The world of car leasing is a murky one…
The world of car leasing is a murky one ! My 3 star review I not just based on Lex but car leasing as a way of getting a new car.
On paper it's a much cheaper way of getting into a new car but hey guess what that's on paper.
Any damage beyond the very lightest of everyday wear you will be charged for at a premium rate.
The dealings I had with Lex were OK communication was acceptable and the on line portal is easy to register and use.
You need to make changes it's easy but it will cost you unfairly in my opinion wether it's a decrease or increase in milage or ending your contract early by a few months you will have to pay an unfair price imo.
Before you commit remember you need at least 3 payments in advance to keep the monthly payment down.
Remember to allow at least £500 before it goes back for damage repairs go to a local body shop ask them to check it over a few week before you reture the vehicle.
Weigh up all the costs it's not your car except emwhen something goes wrong then it's your responsibility !
My advice buy a 12 month old car from a dealer with a bank loan if you have good credit history it will work out more cost effective.
LA make it virtually impossible to sell your vehicle to a Third party
Upon agreement they give you the option to sell via Third Party within your lease term or at the end to pay your settlement figure.
HOWEVER, what they don't tell you is the procedure they use to enable you to do so is so flawed that it's verging on criminal!
First - it's extremely difficult to secure a buyer when they find out the vehicle is on finance.
Secondly - When you've actually been lucky enough to agree a sale to a third party, you send Lex the buyers details - LA then send an 'email' with a payment link to potential buyer. This is where you lose your potential buyer.
To note. Webuyanycar won't touch them with a barge pole either - that says a lot!
Nobody in their right mind would pay a substantial amount via a link in an email to a company who they haven't heard of!
Lex are fully aware of this and it enables them to have you tied into their lease payments.
BEWARE - even if you get to the end of your lease and you have your settlement figure, you will Not be able to sell it to a third party!
You're unable to pay the settlement yourself as the vehicle must be sold to third party.
You're left in a situation where you're left leasing an old vehicle at inflated prices or handing back to Lex for them to dispose for you - in other words, send to auction. You as the leaseholder will then have to pay the shortfall in sale price.
In short - DO NOT pay any attention to having the option to sell to a third party. Absolute con artists and should be held accountable with the FCA.
They now have our hands tied & we're having to cancel our new vehicle.
Hats off to them though - they've been clever about it though 'giving you the option to sell via Third party' but then making it impossible via their payment / email system!
FCA have been informed.
poor communication
I have had a terrible experience so far with lex autolease. The first time I tried to order a car they tell me their website prices are wrong and jack up the price. Ok, so I cancel. Several months later I try to order a car again, this time they just don’t progress my order and ignore my emails. They don’t even have any of my money yet and are doing their best to demonstrate incompetence. I will be telling my employer about my experience.
never trust this firm
never trust this firm! Having paid up my monthly payment and handed back the car and having been assured by the office there was nothing more to pay I am still beibg harrrassed by emails asking for payment three months later .
DO NOT USE THIS FIRM THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!
If it were possible to give 0 stars
If it were possible to give 0 stars, that's what I would have given. I've had a Kia Niro with a fault for over 6 months. Kia are still unable to even diagnose the fault and Lex Autolease are unwilling to apply any pressure, allow me to return the car early without penalty or help in any way really! I've been sent a £200 cheque for 'loss of enjoyment' but this really is not what I wanted at all. I just wanted them to help me either get my faulty car repaired or rejected. Now I'm stuck with it for another 18 months and they could not care less. Their attitude on the phone is absolutely appalling and it's very much a 'can't do' attitude - they literally couldn't care less. I really did think Arval were bad until I was unlucky enough to lease a car from Lex Autolease.
Perfect 3 year personal lease
Perfect 3 year personal lease, not sure why they have so many 1 star reviews!
Had a personal 3 year lease car. Everything available to do online via account. Arranged an early termination and sent back with no issues at all. Car collected by BCA and not only were end of lease charges very fair, but Lex actually wrote off some of the damage charges without us even asking.
Very easy to reach on the phone and polite and helpful when I had a few queries.
Excess mileage charged as expected and paid, no bother.
Overall very positive and would be very happy to take another lease with these guys!
Our next one is Santander, so we see how that goes
Don't get maintenance for lease cars
Lease car with maintenance as part of the contract, so if you have a flat you have to use Kwik Fit. With one front tyre just below limit and the other just above, Lex only authorise the replacement of one tyre.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Awful company. Lease a car from anyone but these absolute chancers!!!
Had absolutely no problems at all with…
Had absolutely no problems at all with Lex . Recently returned car after 4 years, with a small charge of £133 for damaged alloys.
Smooth transaction from star to finish.
Would use again
FCA Regulated company - In touch with the Financial Ombudsman Service - Avoid
If it was possible to offer zero stars, this would be too much. Impossible to get a hold of throughout the lease, they have now made an error on my credit file with no reason, explanations or warning. Trying to get through to them to find out why, and this continues to be impossible. Please, please reconsider if you come across this company. Currently in touch with the ombudsman, who are ironically easier to get in touch with, to have them held to account. They are an FCA regulated company that appear to be getting away with activities in breach of their responsibilities. Please avoid at all costs, do not risk dealing with this business, it is simply not worth it. cc
Stay clear of this company
If there were 0 stars for this company I would give it
Bad communication from agents
The list is endless
Excellent E-Ordering Process
This review relates to the e-ordering process via a Leasing Broker.
The process was excellent and efficient.
I hope the experience will continue throughout the leasing agreement.
Horrendous company
I had a horrendous experience with Lex Auto. Despite my numerous attempts to pay what I owed, they wrote off my debt as a bad debt. I suspect they benefit from this by claiming VAT back or something similar. Consequently, my credit score has plummeted from 960 to 410. As a homeowner with no previous defaults and a business owner, this has severely impacted my financial standing and position as a director. Do not use this company.
The highway men of leasing companies!
As with most of the reviews on here just a horrible experience with this bunch of thieves, who just because they have the power of a bank behind them think they have free license to do what they want!
I signed up for a three year lease on a commercial vehicle through Vanarama, obviously at the time LEX were giving them the best deal on financing the van. A year into the lease and I receive an invoice from LEX for £15 plus £3 for VAT for the ‘adjustment in the road fund license’? When signing up with Vanarama they list on the website as ‘Road fund license included in the rental’.
I contacted LEX straight away and asked what the invoice was for and was told as the RFL had gone up by £15 from when I took out the lease and I was liable for the increase. I also asked why they were adding VAT to the road fund license which is a TAX and not subject to value added tax being applied and was informed the VAT was for their ‘services’ no explanation on the invoice apart from ‘RFL’ the cost of the additional increase and VAT added to it.
Lex emailed me with their so called resolution, basically my complaint has not be upheld, the money was due and if I didn’t like it go to the Financial Ombudsman and they took the money the next day. As I could not find the passage they quoted in the email from the original contract I emailed them back to provide me with the applicable section they were quoting and also asked why they had just RFL on the invoice and not services.
I know this is only a small amount but when you are paying a set amount of £553 a month and was informed that the RFL was included you don’t expect to have to pay extra every year when the RFL is due.
I am in a position where I am scared of using the vehicle just in case it sustains the slightest damage that LEX will obviously overcharge me for so called repairing. I just really want to offload the van to this bunch daylight robbers!
Quick, Easy and Smooth process
A lot of people seem unhappy but I can't fault them for the good experience I had. Lease started in July 2020 and Ended just yesterday. Smooth process from start to finish, easy to view invoices and anything else I needed online like documents etc. Arranging vehicle return was easy and a quick process. I was aware my car had some damage but knew it'd be cheaper to let them charge me for it than to repair it myself. The online estimation tool was pretty close to accurate and I paid much less through Lex than I would have if I repaired it myself. Quick, Easy and Smooth process and very happy with Lex overall.
They have pushed my order back 8 times…
They have pushed my order back 8 times despite the manufacturer telling me that the order was ready for delivery
If you are lucky enough to actually get through to a real person they will be very helpful and promise to call you back, be aware that they won’t. They have no regard for their customers and their customer service is non existent
My order is through my company, if it was my own I would cancel and start again with anyone but Lex
If they had any regard to how they are viewed then they would be doing their best to get their ratings up but I see no evidence of this
Stay away or you will regret it
Left hand not knowing what right hand is doing.
Email from Lex Autolease says a new invoice is available for me to view. Please log in to view your invoice, thank you. I logged in and there is not an invoice to view. They do state that the money will be taken by DD, but what is the payment for for?
A complete rip off
A complete rip off. When our lease was about to finish, we sent the car to Mini to fix minor damage. When we returned it to Lex they then charged us over £500 for minor marks on alloy wheels and dents that were completely imperceptible (clearly Mini had also missed them). Would never ever use again.
Never Again
Faulty car that has been into the garage 18 times since new and Lex opened a complaint when I put in writing I wanted to cancel the contact and then decided that having an lemon that is unsafe to drive does not warrant a cancellation of contract.
