Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 51 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently encountered chaotic and unhelpful customer service, often finding it difficult to reach a human and noting a lack of responsibility for issues. Many also reported significant problems with the vehicles themselves, including faulty products, unexpected breakdowns, and safety concerns. Reviewers were often frustrated by unjustified charges for excess mileage, non-existent damages, or various administrative fees and errors. However, some customers also noted positive experiences. A few people found the customer service friendly and helpful, with some reporting no issues during their lease and willingness to use the company again.

What exactly do lex autoease do? Nothing by the looks of it

I had the unfortunate luck that is the company Tesla put me through to organise a lease. Just another middleman trying to get their commission for doing absolutely nothing. They corrected my address in the application (I know my own address). And then just proceeded to knock back my application three times because the street name was in the wrong box (even though it was in the right box each time.) Genuinely shocked my application is being held up for no reason whatsoever. Can’f even call them to tell them how this is nonsense- have to go back through Tesla. They put the application through to Black Horse which I could have done myself and also they are in the midst of a controversy of commissions pre dating 2021. All seems very weird. Shame Tesla is associated with them - should be excited by my new car but this is just ruining it.

I had a Isuzu dmax on contract hire with lex and when it came to return it BCA logistics came to pick it up and did all the checks and no problem as I had it valeted, new MOT, New front tyres, all serviced and now they are saying that they want over £900 for paint work that has not been done as I have an account with BCA and it was taken straight there so I printed the appraisal off and no damage was on the vehicle as BCA grade was a grade 2 .
So a warning to everyone don't deal with this company as they try to rip you off after the contract ends as according to there t/c the vehicle must be returned as good as new after 3 years.

Beware second hand EVs that are out of manufacturers warranty

Initially I have been very happy with the process of ordering the car and taking delivery etc.,
I decided to lease an Audi e-tron 50. I have had Audi's in the past, so trusted them as a solid manufacturer.
However within a month and a half my experience has been soured.
Driving to work, a red warning light popped up on the dash "Electric Error: Contact Workshop". Called out the AA who then followed me to the Audi garage (as electric cars are too weighty to tow), and that was on the 30th April.

It's important to note here that although the contract with with Loveelectric, the actual company who leases the car is Lex Autolease which is where the problem lies. Lex Autolease said they could provide me with a courtesy car for 2 days maximum. The Audi garage were unable to supply a courtesy car as the Audi is out of warranty. Even if this was not effected by the warranty, they still would not be able to supply me with one as every single one of their courtesy cars are out with other clients thanks to a major Audi recall on batteries.

Turns out my local Audi dealership are the only ones that can repair their electric cars from between Lands End in Cornwall and Bristol - so it's a massive area.

I raised an official complaint with Lex Autolease who said it could be up to 8 weeks before I receive a resolution to my complaint!

So despite the fact I am paying for one, I am without a car... very difficult in an area that has very limited public transport.

Feeling very ignored, I raised my complaint with Lex Autolease to the highest level - but it seems all the help they can give is "can't the garage offer you a courtesy car?"

I have escalated the complaint to the highest level I can at Audi as well who seem very unwilling to supply me with a courtesy car what with the car being out of warranty. I did say to Audi that surely as it's a battery issue, that is covered under their 8 year warranty - however, apparently the problem has to be diagnosed by the garage before they can definitely agree to it being a battery issue.

Meanwhile the car is still sitting on the Audi forecourt over two weeks later not even having been looked at because Audi have been too busy with their recall.

Consequently, over two weeks later, I STILL do not have a car, and this means that travelling anywhere is massively delayed (including my normal commute), if not impossible thanks to the rural area I live and lack of public transport. The car has not even moved on Audi's forecourt in that time. They tell me they should be able to 'look' at it by the end of the week, but are unable to tell me how long the repairs may take.

I have been left high and dry by Audi and Lex Autolease who do not seem to care at all about good customer service once the vehicle is out of warranty. I would not mind so much, but as it is an electric Audi, I have NO choice but to have it repaired at the Audi dealership, whereas a standard ICE car I could have taken anywhere, and it would have been repaired by now.

The reason I am leaving the review here with Loveelectric is because my contract is with them, and yet throughout this whole process, whilst being apologetic have been about as useful as a chocolate teapot - and have not actually brought any help to the party. I even asked about changing vehicles, but was sent the usual blurb about what rights I have over cancelling the contract, which is not what I asked for.

With all this, I am still paying the salary sacrifice scheme, so do not have enough finance left to even rent out a vehicle myself, let alone pay for the fuel, insurance etc.

I hope that Loveelectric will listen, and add in insurance that offers a courtesy car for the duration of a break down as I have had received no help from anyway, and am now wishing I had not sold my 14 year old VW Polo that gave me no problems at all.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is a stress free process like I was. It most certainly isn't!

STAY WELL AWAY !

UPDATE STAY WELL AWAY !! I am reporting to the ombudsman and FCA. Totally unreasonable company that are a total nightmare to deal with. Very nasty staff that relish in trying to make life extremely difficult. All the 1 star reviews are TRUE.

Avoid at all cost

After the financial ombudsman concluded their investigation into the final settlement and determined that Lex had overcharged me, Lex graciously deducted £1.5k from the settlement amount. However, during the investigation, Lex unjustly placed a default on my credit report. Following the ombudsman's verdict and request for removal, Lex complied. Despite this, I am now burdened with a £2.5k bill that I am still struggling to pay them as they do not answer the phone or take payments when I do get through to anyone and fail to call back. To exacerbate matters, Lex has once again placed a default on my credit account.

Attempts to contact them have been futile, and even when I manage to reach them, they refuse to accept payment over the phone, leaving me wary of conducting transactions via BACS. Upon raising a complaint to resolve the outstanding bill, Lex has reopened a complaint on my behalf, only to close it without informing me of the outcome.

This level of unscrupulous behaviour is unprecedented in my experience, and I am deeply troubled by Lex's actions. I would not recommend anyone to use this company ever.

Poor Customer Service Experience

I recently attempted to contactLEX autolease both by phone and email, and unfortunately, my experience was highly unsatisfactory. Despite numerous attempts, I was unable to reach them via phone, encountering long wait times and eventually being disconnected. Additionally, my emails went unanswered, leaving me feeling frustrated and ignored.

As a customer, I value responsive and attentive service, especially when encountering issues or needing assistance. However, my attempts to communicate with Lex Auto lease were met with silence and indifference. This lack of responsiveness reflects poorly on their customer service practices and undermines trust in their ability to address customer concerns.

In today's competitive market, where customer experience plays a significant role in brand loyalty, it's disappointing to encounter such neglectful behaviour from a company. I hope that Lex takes steps to improve their communication channels and prioritize customer inquiries in the future. Until then, I cannot recommend their services to others based on my unfortunate experience.

If I could do less than 1 star I would…

If I could do less than 1 star I would do ! Do not get a car through this company ! My brand new car was delivered with a warning light on , phoned them they told me to phone AA , AA man said it was the 1st just delivered car he had ever been called too , couldn’t fix it so Lex said it had to be taken to the Skoda garage 20miles away! Given a hire car!
Car came back eventually & then all sorts of fault lights came on Lex weren’t interested just said take back to garage , lost total faith in the car as lights came on all the time & alarms when driving , Lex then said if there is a problem contact Skoda , who said Lex needed to sort! But they didn’t care . I had the car for just under 3years! The final straw was when we were on holiday in France , after just having the car repaired again , when all the lights came on & car stopped in the middle of the motorway , it was really scary! Managed to get it started again , but no sat nav or anything, even my phone stopped working as it was plugged into the car ! In a foreign country with no maps to get to destination! When we came back through France a friend took our phone number just incase it happened again we still had no info system , car then went back to garage when we got home for 4 weeks ! THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE , MY CAR WAS DANGEROUS & THEY DIDNT WANT TO KNOW DO NOT USE

Email to the complaints department…

Email to the complaints department 26.3.24
This explains the context. My father passed away 4 months ago and he had an Isuzu pick up truck on lease with Lex Autolease. They inspected the truck on 5th January. I had to sign a document regarding the inspection and all appear fine with no exterior damage. 47 days later, we received a letter saying we owe 800 pounds for damages. After complaining, it came to 318 pounds. Amongst this process they gave us 99 pounds compensation regarding the complaint. The email will explain more. It is utterly unbelievable and disgusting. See email below:

Dear madam,

As a family, we are going to launch an official complaint about the conversation we had and we have already reported to the financial ombudsmen. I have copied in your company's CEO regarding the disgusting treatment we faced this morning. I did not appreciate having the phone put down on me when I was expressing my point of view and the lack of compassion and empathy was very upsetting. My mum was extremely upset about your tone. You had her in tears so I hope you feel proud of yourself. It made me extremely angry that you dismissed everything I was saying and I won't be bullied by someone like you! You provided no answers to anything. There were no answers of a breakdown of costs equating to £318, a lack of a response to 47 days difference in time between the vehicle going and inspected, a lack of response about why my signature didn't count on the document. I have dealt with people about complaints before and they have been very amicable and had compassion. They were human! Your conversation was the worst experience I have dealt with, with how you dismissed my dad's death. That is totally out of order and disgusting! The attitude towards me was unacceptable. Your apology means nothing to me but I want a written apology to my mum because I don't think you realise how you made her feel, let alone me. Her email address is: ***********@hotmail.co.uk. That is the least she deserves. She has been through a great deal. This could have been resolved very easily but you have deliberately decided to make things very difficult for us here. I just hope one day when something like what has happened to us happens to you that you get treated the same! I am writing to BBC Watchdog and I have written on Trustpilot already, looking at your 1 star service.

AVOID THE SCAMMERS

If i could give zero stars then i would!!

I handed back a car in near perfect condition both inside and out and used very little mileage, way below what I had been paying for yet they charged me for some little scuffs on the wheels. The gentleman collecting the car even said he rarely gets a car back in such good condition. Con men!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If I could give them zero stars I would. Avoid this company at ALL costs! Inconsistent advice between departments, a number of company ‘strategies’ they like to talk about but can’t define, an inept complaints department, zero customer service skills, no common sense, no empathy, no logical approach to out of box situations…no logical anything!! Without going into detail (we’d be here all day!) dealing with these clowns was honestly the worst experience of my life - you would be mad to even consider them!

I was ripped off when I returned the car. The car was inspected thoroughly and only a few minor damages were marked as wear and tear. 2 weeks later I received a bill for the damage. It seems that the company is trying to get money from customers at all costs, because the car went to auction immediately after being picked up and was sold. If this is the policy of this company, then I wish them good luck

You would be bonkers to trust Lex

You would be bonkers to trust Lex. You will be ripped off when you return your car. My car was inspected for a full hour with a magnifying glass. You cannot challenge the decision no matter how outrageous the claim is. I refused to pay for the so called damage and it resulted in my credit score being lowered. I wish I could share a photo of the scratch to show how ridiculous the claim was. Its companies like this that give leasing a bad name. Do not Trust.

Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking. Returned my car and was hit with a massive bill for a scratch!! complained and absolutely no movement what so ever. I had the bill checked by a body work specialist and he told me that i was being "robbed Blind". Car cant be rechecked as not there. I cant get my body work specialist to do it now as its already at auction!! They arent even getting the work done in it - its already sold
Avoid at all costs - they will sting you massively!!!
Should of read the reviews before i took the lease and i would of been warned.

Bizarre company

Bizarre company. I have a car on lease with them. Original term ended in Sept 2023 for 18K contracted miles. I then extend in October for an additional 6 months for 5K miles for the full year, so 2.5K pro rata. Now they tell me, in Feb that my total contracted miles is 17500 ie 5K for the whole lease period, yet I've paid rentals up to last Sept for 18K miles. Why on earth would I extend and pay 6 extra rentals in that case??

Never come across such a poorly thought out customer experience in my life. Shocking to see that a large organisation like this, and a regulated one, can still try to fleece customers this way.

Abysmal service

The Company are simply impossible to contact with any genuine enquiry and clearly have no concept of customer service. I was given no opportunity to carry out a delivery inspection, and the vehicle was simply handed over to me, with two sets of keys, no manual, and a virtually empty fuel tank. No phone numbers or email addresses were provided. Lex failed to register the vehicle with the DVLA which left me driving around in an unregistered and potentially untaxed vehicle for more than a month, exposing me to being stopped by the Police and potentially fined.
Due to their error, Lex did not take the initial months payment from my bank account, but then decided to take two months rent on the same day leaving me with the potential to becoming overdrawn with an unagreed overdraft. Even now I am unable to get onto their Manage My Vehicle Website, and have no way of contacting them other than through a lengthy wait on a premium rate phone line. Avoid this business at all costs.
