This company sells phone numbers to scammers.
They also sell lists of numbers to call.
If you get a call from a number sold by them it will be a scam.

Every few days I get a call from a number sold by this company. Not a false statement.

Got a call from 01202281299 sold by Localphone as they own all 01202 281 numbers.

I suggest if it is a "spoofed" number that you have a lot of scammers spoofing your numbers and that you contact OFCOM.

Bought their incoming number service which doesn't work. Tried to make a test call but they almost always fail. On one occasion I was connected to a random person. On no occasion did the target phone ring.

Their technical support is completely useless. The support guy just checked that his test server can make the call, and kept on sending a one liner that everything is okay. He didn't give a toss what I was actually complaining about and wasn't bothered to check the actual issue and attempt to fix it.

Given I was not paying for this service so it can only work from their test server, I have asked for full refund. Let's see if they would actually bother with it, otherwise I will raise a chargeback claim with my credit card company.

Shame as I have been using them for over 10 years for making international calls, this is the first time I had to contact customer service and they are just dreadful. I'll look for alternative service now.

If you block your caller ID when using VoIP including their app one of two things will happen when I called a Mobile phone that I can see was connected to the network the call went to voicemail I even called the phone from another and the phone rang. when I tried calling a landline the connection would fail for no reason

I Have been with local phone for many years and a few months ago I signed up for a subscription. Their terms and conditions were extremely misleading and it ended up costing me a lot of unnecessary money. Customer service was a waste of time and would not help me. I plan to leave them and I am searching for a better company. Shame they lost a loyal customer.

I signed up a few days ago. I got an incoming number and added $10 of credit to make calls. I downloaded their internet phone to my desktop. I cannot make or receive calls. When you call my incoming number it's just dead air. I've contacted customer support and put in a ticket twice and it's been almost a week and nobody has contacted me. Terrible customer service. I just hope I can get my money back.

I have not had only minor issues.

Today as of around 12:00 UK time I am not able to access web site on any browser.

Junk, Been with them for years. No way to port your number. Many Many emails to support to get port out pin goes with no response. STAY AWAY

Old application, that is not working on PC or on Phone as told by some customers in the review. Many crashes on standard Win10 PC. Money wasted. I used Skype instead, more expensive but reliable.

Charged total of 56 cents from balance for calls made under subscription.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that this has happened.

Received refund

I am using Local phone since 2014, but since the a week ago most of their incoming number stoppend working.

There is no way to contact them by phone, and when contacting them via their online website it takes them extremely long to get back with a unusual answer.

Following was their response [#UUJ-172-91525] on yesterday: "We had a system outage, all systems should now be up & running as normal please attempt your calls again, we apologise for any inconvenience".

But i answered them that most of my incoming number are still not working... but i never got back a response.

I would not recommend them anymore, and i am looking now to get a new company to serve our needs.

Have been using Localphone for years without any problems, excellent service, and usually great line quality but for the past week been having problems with their incoming number service. They have replied to emails quickly but have not fixed the problem.

Cannot fault them. They are excellent. I am using them for the last 15 years or so. Never had any problem.

Absolutely appalling service. Our phone re-direct ceased functioning and I’ve sent five emails over four days with ZERO response. There’s no number to call for support. My advice, look for an alternative service provider. Localphone is far from reliable.

I signed up this morning paid for a subscription and I am still waiting for service. Hours later the message "We’re processing your payment. We’ll send you an email as soon as your credit is ready to spend." I see the CEO is also CEO of Voxbeam Telecommunications Inc. so I tried calling them but the mailbox is full.

Someone else answered and spoke in hindi when I tried to call. She did not understand what I was saying so had to disconnect and email support team. It didn't happen since BUT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHY DID MY CALL CONNECT TO SOMEWHERE ELSE NOT MY FAMILY?

I have been receiving calls from a company I Kent supposedly who make verbal threats and put the phone down it appears that you own this number

My account with credit in it was removed and i cant login to my account

I cannot send an email to support on my contact form because , i cant input/ know my account number ..

No better than the scammers them selves.

Whilst this company may not be scammers by design it is recorded as the hosting system for scammers and callers of serious nuisance to UK called persons in a potentially illegal, abusive and repetitive manner. There may well be reason for legitimate users, global or local, to hide behind spoofed numbers (which apparently Localphone facilitates) but it may be aiding and abetting criminal services (in the UK or parts of EU) in doing this. There appears to be no general contact number for complaints of such abuse and I think it would be useful for their own business to disown such use, and show an interest in preventing it for these purposes.

I should point out that I do not review this company on a single instance of abusive call, but the repetitive nature of scam calls masked via Localphone raises the question of whether the company is making any effort to prevent illegitimate use via intent or trickery, or operates any applicant scrutiny. The nuisance numbers can easily be identified through websites such as whocalledme and who-calls-me. These callers can not be blocked by (e.g. BT) because it appears that Localphone allows random calling numbers to mask the source. This appears to me to be supporting suspicious and potentially fraudulent activities. Why would a caller want this feature if not to hide from and frustrate their target 'customer', and refuse to give details of their business, the purpose of the call, and the source of their information?

Come on Localphone, show an interest in the scammers you may be facilitating, and provide a problem reporting facility for targeted recipients? Is there money in aiding and abetting?

Have been using Localphone since 2018, very good service and call quality, we have a second home in France and using the mobile phone app we can make calls to the UK at a low cost from France. Over the years we have had one or two technical problems but the help desk was quick and efficient fixing the issue. The only thing I would like to see is the ablity to dial 999 from our VOIP phone in the UK.
