Have been using Localphone for years..usually excellent, but havent been able to connect with family phones in UK. Contacted LP twice to be told there is an issue with the UK providers. However was miffed that there has not been any notification of this issue on their website etc and have not been given a 'fix by' date

This is a total scam. when you use voip to call a number, you never get connected. But when you use your phone to call the so called local numbers, then you are charged twice first by both your sim providers and also localphone. This is total ridiculous

I have been a customer for years and 99.9% have had great service.But just recently everytime i phoned my local numbers i would either not get through or get someone random.contacted localphone and within a couple of days all sorted by Mark..with a few tweeks..thankyou would be at quite a loss without localphone in Christchurch NZ..cheers

I am a Local Phone customer since the year 2011. The call quality is very good and the local phone calls work perfectly. Low prices for making international calls. Also their local phone virtual number service helps to receive calls from the regional callers (friends, family or business customers). Their customer service is very excellent and prompt and even they reply promptly over the weekends too.

One of the best and cost effective calling services that I have ever used.

Still no SIP connection and no refund. Despite their reply to my previous review and that I contacted them as suggested, Localphone has still refused to reply to all attempts to reach them.
I can only think of two possible explanations:
1) They are a rogue company that takes payments on their website but is no longer able to provide SIP services.
2) They blocked access on my account to the SIP server once they learned that I am a foreigner living in the UK.. go guess why,but xenophobia in on the rise here.
Whichever the case, I strongly advice to stay away from this company.
I signed up because I needed a foreign number to receive calls. After toping up my account they required me to send my passport and proof of address, so I opted to use my credit on PSTN termination although that's not what I wanted. No sip provider in the world requires passport scans for PSTN termination, so my account should have been working as expected, however it seems disabled.
In conclusion, Localphone is bad for hiding the fact that they require passport scans for incoming numbers (this sort of cheating should be illegal), bad for not having sip connection working on my account, and finally bad for not replying to tickets and emails and only come to trustpilot to pretend they do.

SMS doesn't get sent many times. Right after sending it, they tell you that it has been successfully sent, however, if you check the SMS history you will be shocked to find out that it really was the contrary. At times, it seems it's successfully delivered but a few days or a week after (granted you have the luxury of time to check) it turns out to be the other way around. It definitely is not a reliable way to communicate via SMS with your loved ones. The calls, if I remember it right, were not bad. But I use their service just to send my mother SMS apart from using unlimited Rebtel calls to her.

A couple of times, I sent a message to Customer Service and they always say, "I don't know what's going on or we're still waiting for them to fix it, etc., etc." As a customer, I don't really care about these third parties, I just want to get my money's worth and not waste my time sending and resending. Perhaps instead of always blaming someone else, why not take the responsibility?

Great service and excellent technical support. The phone lines can sometimes be a little patchy: I had mine drop several times while trying to reach a UK customer service line, but this might not have been Localphone's fault per se, as they rely on local phone companies for connections and inherit local providers glitches. All in all, given the cheap rates, it's a great solution to extortionate mobile phone bills!

I don't usually write reviews, but having seen some of the other reviews here, I felt the need to leave one.

Localphone provide a fantastic service. Whenever I have contacted them, I have received a polite and prompt reply.

I have a girlfriend who has family from outside the UK and who grew up there. Localphone enables her to have a local phone number in her home country to give to her friends/family (particularly useful for family members that don't have a smartphone). Using VOIP, receiving calls through her phone is practically free. Making calls is super cheap. Overall, to rent a phone number, receive multiple calls a day and call home a few times a week, we spend a few pounds a month.

Anyone who complains, simply doesn't know how the service works and has not spent enough time trying to work this out. I've yet to find a company able to offer what localphone does. During this pandemic they have been a lifeline.

I am using Localphone since 2009 and found it a very useful service. I am using it with a Siemens Gigaset and it works perfectly fine. Android app is bit lousy but from mobile I use their local calling numbers, which is a great feature. I also avail their incoming number option and it works without any problem. Localphone support service responds within a day time, which is acceptable in my opinion.

I tried to make this service work in 4 methods: 2 of them were on their website, didn't work properly . Their windows app - doesn't work properly. This android app - doesn't work properly. Most of the time the call goes through and you can only hear the person for like 1 minute and then the call hangs up on the other end but not on your end and all you can hear is a loop of what the other person said.

Ridiculous

Works faultlessly for us. Nice feature to be allocated specific numbers for regular contacts. I can only imagine that people who have not given ***** reviews have failed to understand how to use the service.

I make calls all over the world, many free due to WiFi, those charged are pence few a pound - err usually less then all the others I have used in the past -

Have been using it for many years without a problem. Easy to use app. Transparent costs. Would Recommend.

Have been using local phone for many years however recently noticed they have default 60min call limit whereby the call ends automatically without any warning. This is normally not a problem however when I contacted India support line the call time exceeded 60min and on these occasions i could not close the query. There is no support contact number to solve this urgently. I need to now shift on alternate modes to make international calls

Garbage. First call was fine. Repeated the process to make another call (both to UK landlines from Asia) and nothing happened. No decent support pages. No diagnostics.
Pay cheap = get unreliability

I have been using Localphone for as long as I can remember. No call setup fee and very cheap rates for uk and abroad. Don’t know how they haven’t gone out of business for these prices but hey, this is the way to get new customers and keep old. I use the service with Gigaset and Fritzbox hardware with no problems whatsoever. I found using a STUN server helps with connectivity longevity.

Wish i could port my BT phone number to localphone but believe this is not possible.

Added credit hours ago and still not reflected in my account and I need to make an urgent call to the US. Also kept getting cut off. Terrible service.

Been using this for years. A call to a mobile in Alaska just cast 7p for 18 minutes. That's amazing, and quality was crystal clear. We had a local number in Spain so my grandson could call home. that worked great too.

Fake, scam company! i charge 1$ to try their call back service! they never call me back and take away my credit! Big scam ever!!!
