Lost World experience

We just returned from a family trip to both Peru and Ecuador using Lost World Adventures. We have used them in the past for several trips to Africa and as usual their attention to detail and level of service was excellent. Without fail a cheerful friendly guide would meet us at each transfer point whether at 1 AM at an airport or at 4 PM in a hotel lobby ready to assist us on the next phase of our journey. The staff and guides are knowledgeable and go out of their way to make sure your trip of a lifetime is just that. I highly recommend their services if you are looking for a team to assist you in all the tiny details that make an adventure trip run smoothly.

Peruvian Adventure

My husband and I just returned from Peru and the trip was fantastic! We stayed in five different locations and each hotel/resort was unique and fabulous in its own way. Lima to the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu to Cusco to Lake Titicaca. All of the guides and activities were phenomenal. This is the third trip that Lost World Adventures has planned for us and we could not have been more pleased with each one. Awaiting our next adventure!

Best of Costa Rica

All of our accommodations were outstanding! Our guides were exceptional and thanks to their efforts we saw everything we were supposed to see!
Our guides and modes of transportation were all on time and as scheduled. In some cases we arrived at our next location too early, waiting as much as 2-3.5 hours for the next leg of the trip. Highly recommend the whole adventure!

Overall it was great!

Overall it was great!! The hotels, flights and most of the guides were wonderful. One driver/guide that picked us up at Manaus airport was not at the level of all the others. There was a discrepancy on the itinerary for the Hydrofoil BA to Montevideo where it said we had first class tickets but the actual tickets were not??? We did not like how we had to get up very early for flights but then on arrival to the destination hotel we had to wait to check-in. Why so early to wait to check in? Other than that for a 30 day vacay, it was fantastic!! Thanks Garrett, you did a wonderful job!!!

Patagonia Trip

Overall we had a terrific experience. With the exception of El Calafate, the accommodations were all exceptional. The 5 day cruise from Porto Arenas to Ushuaia, although expensive, was worth it. Exceptional weather for end of March also helped. Highlights were Bariloche, Puerto Natalas and Torres del Paine (Chile postcard peaks), and Glacier Alley on the cruise. Ushuaia showed what 50 mph winds look like but the perpetual rainbow made it a great final stop. Working with Lost World was a pleasure. They were very responsive and followed up on everything including the days of arrival and departure in every city.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LOST WORLD ADVENTURES!

I reached out to Responsible Travel through their website to inquire about a combined Machu Picchu/Galapagos trip. They responded on 2/26/19 saying they were a UK company and had turned over my request for information to Lost World who handles their Machu Picchu/Galapagos vacations. The same day I received an email from Garrett at Lost World and the next day a follow up phone call to discuss our desired vacation. He was to follow up with more detailed information. 2 weeks passed and I hadn't heard back from Lost World, so I emailed Garrett. Another week goes by so I called and left a message. The next day I receive an email apologizing for his delay in responding and promising to have something to me by the following day. 3 more days go by, still nothing! So, on 3/22 I send an email to Rosy at Responsible Travel. In their initial email contact on 2/26 they promise to get back within a week to follow up. 4 weeks had passed and still haven't heard from either company. Today is 3/28 and still haven't heard from either company. Moral to this story: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LOST WORLD ADVENTURES and if somehow you get hooked up with Responsible Travel WALK AWAY! Don't waste your time. If this is the type of service these two companies provide when trying to book a vacation, what's going to happened when you're on vacation? I shudder at the thought.

Thank you for your feedback, and I sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced during the inquiry process.

You are absolutely correct that our follow-up and response time in this instance did not meet the level of service we strive to provide, particularly during the initial planning stages of such an important trip.

At the time, we were experiencing an unusually high inquiry volume combined with staffing limitations, but that is ultimately our responsibility and not the experience we want prospective travelers to have.

While you did not ultimately travel with us, I genuinely regret the poor first impression and the inconvenience caused by the lack of timely communication.

Over the years since this review, we have continued working to improve our responsiveness, communication systems, and overall client experience.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

Champion Chile trip

My wife and I enjoyed the pick up at the airport and hotel. All went smoothly. Only hiccup was as I checked in for our flights the airline had changed our seats and I was unable to sit by my wife. However, Andrew was successful in getting the return seats changed.

Excellent Bolivia trip

I just came back from a 12 day tour of Bolivia, arranged via Lost World Adventures, and it was terrific. Everything went well, without a hitch-- hotels, transfers, local tours, guides, logistics-- allowing me to max out my enjoyment of Bolivia, from chaotic and vibrant La Paz, to the otherworldly Uyuni salt flats (a definite highlight), from dizzying heights of Potosi to stately and elegant Sucre, etc.. Not to mention the excursions to Copacobana and idyllic Isla del Sol on Lake Titicaca and the hike on an Inca trail in Maragua. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, discovering fascinating Bolivia, and its amazing landscapes, history and culture and its people of course--and I thank Lost World for working out a great itinerary and excellent local tours. I have great memories of the trip and would highly recommend the services of Lost World, who tailored a itinerary to suit my requirements in terms of places to see, types of hotels to stay in and my desire for a few free days and preference for private tours. Bolivia is not the easiest of destinations, on account of its high altitude which takes a bit of time to get used to, but the itinerary and local arrangements made on my behalf allowed my full enjoyment of this beautiful country with the minimum of physical discomfort. Bolivia exceeded my expectations and would recommend to people looking for a bit of adventure!

THANK YOU!!!

We were extremely happy with how each and every minor/major logistics were taken care of during our entire trip to Peru. Starting from the planning phase, Andrew and Garvey of Lost World were with us revising the itinerary multiple times until it met with our comfort level. This was our very first time of hiring a professional travel agency for organizing our vacation at the international location, so you can imagine the degree of anxiety we had about our trip at the beginning. Andrew kept assuring us that you will know as soon as you reach there that you are in good hands. That turned out to be true word-by-word. At every airport we were met with someone who was assigned to take us to the hotels, and each time the individual left only after making sure that we were all set. Throughout our trip we always find the people attending us (the guides, transfer and drivers) very prompt, professional and courteous. One problem we experienced though that many a times the individuals assigned to us were not very proficient in English. This was quite limiting but nevertheless was countered with the help of google translator and very enthusiastic personnel who were genuinely eager to help. The guides (Natalie in Sacred valley and Cusco; Sergio at the Matchu Pitchu) who went with us to various excursion tours were knowledgeable, entertaining and very very friendly. The cars were in really great conditions, roomy and very clean - in fact one of the drivers used to keep the black synthetic floors spotless by wiping our dusty footprints every single time we stepped out. The location of each hotel was prime, which was truly important for us particularly when we were on tight schedule and has no clue about the orientation of touristy hot spots and down town plazas. Perhaps this is unique to the south american setting, but we struggled a little with the 'Vouchers' - something that you paid for that does not go in to the system automatically when you check-in at the hotels. However, our escorts/hotel front desk people were very much aware of it and they helped us almost all of those time. All of the city tour tickets were booked and given to us as soon as we landed in Peru. I want to mention that we were moved by Carlos, our transfer guy in Cusco, who went over on each single thing included in our itinerary while we were driving from the airport to the hotel on our first day. He did that so sincerely while also telling us about the people/history and geography of Peru. I also remember, he wanted to accompany us up to the Vistadome train, but was stopped at the gate (and desperately argued with them to let him do that). Our food restrictions were varied -from nothing to vegan- it was addressed meticulously at the lodge in Amazon Forests, without us reminding them about it. Other places already had appropriate options in their menus. Our itinerary was not overwhelmingly busy - it had some leisure times and times for shopping or just walking around on our own carefully planted, which we liked the most. At one point, we needed to cancel one of the excursion while there at Matchu Pitchu pretty late in the night (due to some health issues; we were supposed to be at the bus stop terribly early AM), we reached out to the emergency contact number of Lost World and they promptly and rapidly helped us with it. We can go on and on to tell you how much we enjoyed the excellent services provided by Lost World - it only enhanced our appreciation of Peru in its entirety.
Thank you so much, we appreciate all your help and look forward to go on to the next vacation with you.

Everything was great, except the checkin.

I really liked Everything Mr. Andrew did for me and my wife. The Tierra Atacama was wonderful, the tours and guides were perfect. Special attention to two guides, Felipe and Carolina, they were perfect end different from the others. I had a Very bad experience with the flight from Calama do Santiago, it really bored me. I Know it probably were caused by Latam, but that was the worst part of my trip.

Great service!

I was introduced to Lost World Adventures via Responsible Travel and had no prior experience of this company. I liaised with Andrew Gilchrist via email, going through various iterations of my proposed itinerary, combining his advice and my requirements. He was very helpful and responsive. I checked with other suppliers as well and the price quoted was competitive. I chose Lost World because Andrew tried to give me the best combination of price and itinerary.

After I paid the initial deposit there was a little delay in making the bookings, but Andrew stayed in contact throughout. I also made a late change to one of our hotels and this was accommodated. The service throughout the holiday was fantastic with no issues at all. Andrew stayed in contact even once we were on holiday just to check that everything was going to plan.

I would highly recommend this company and will definitely be contacting them if i travel to Brazil again.

Peru: Amazon and Sacred Valley family tour

We just returned from a 10 day adventure to Peru. Everything was completely and perfectly planned by Andrew, Garrett and the entire LWA staff. All guides and transportation were on time and with excellent vehicles. The itinerary itself was busy with a lot of activities like I prefer. The hotel choices were excellent as were the tours. A highlight of the trip were the Colorado and Chuncho Clay Licks and the Machu Picchu mountain hike.
Highly recommend LWA for all of your Central and South American travel needs.

I have always done my own trip planning but was slightly overwhelmed by organizing a trip to South America given the stress between time limitations and a desire to see as much as possible, so turned to Lost World Adventures. Andrew helped develop an itinerary with a good balance of countries and activities. The in-country guides were uniformly excellent and the accomodations were a good mix of eco-lodges and hotels. I highly recommend Lost World Adventures to help you plan a trip to South America.
