I signed up 12 years ago but since then the first platform has been taken over twice. If I have to be honest I think it’s a pity that the point system has given it an ‘Airbnb’ vibe. Some members have moved away from the original idea of classical swaps. In the long run I think that is a mistake.

I’m out of Lovehomeswap. The first exchange was in Paris, the apartment was a rathole, I exchanged with my luxury apartment in Marbella. The owner of the apartment in Paris was supposed to come with her daughter, she came with 5 people. Needless to say she left my apartment like a rathole, where she is used to live. When I tried to write a review on her apartment , she had disappeared from the platform, I suspect she used the 3 weeks free to make an exchange. I was in contact with my cleaning lady who took her in her car to buy food. My cleaning lady had to clean 10 hours to put the apartment in nice shape again. This lady tipped her 5 euros. Shameful.
We had an exchange with Bologna which was nice, and one with Pezenas , South of France, also nice. Another one with Paris in a soso area and not very fresh.
So this money that I pay to Love Home Swap I’ll use it to go to a nice hotel next time.

Just spent a few weeks in New Orleans in 3 different swaps. All fabulous and all hosted by wonderful people. In each case the communication was excellent and everyone went out of their way to be as helpful and accommodating as possible. Though they were all points swaps all three would like to come and visit our homes in Spain and England. We have made good friends, had the most amazing time in America's friendliest city and really enjoyed the jazz festival while we were there. In one case there was some confusion about how the site works, as it was the host's first swap and LHS was very helpful and supportive in sorting it out.

Don't like that you require $100 USD for every transaction. It's needless and greedy. I already paid for a membership.

We found Love Home Swap on the internet and it looked quite good so we signed up. Within a couple of hours we had actually sorted out our first home swap on the other side of the world and it all worked out amazingly well. We swapped houses and cars and were totally satisfied - more than satisfied, it was fantastic.

Had a wonderful holiday in David's home, arranged via lovehomeswap. Property was as described, well located near Oistins and having arranged a car for us, we explored the island. The house was well equipped, clean and in a quiet side street, only the occasion monkey visitors to keep an eye on...,

Everything went very smoothly.

We had very good interactions with our co-swappers and found their house to be super comfortable. This was a non-simultaneous swap and was easy.

I just think the points system is not working very well. It encourages people to want to come for a few days which is not really convenient.

Easy to reserve place on Love home swap and all communication went well. Location and facilities were high class.

We had a wonderful time. Couldn’t be better. Port Macquarie was a beachy town where the dog could walk the beach and we could explore.

I have just finished a great swap, however being charged for using points was not part of the deal when I joined. I will be leaving this group and only using Home exchange. I know that Home exchange have just bought out Love Home Swap but I won't renew my membership in September.

We are doing a delayed swap and Michel and his family were perfect guests and excellent communicators..

We have just had a fabulous swap to Bruny Island, Tasmania, Australia. There was a cleaner with this property who did the linen as well as cleaning. At this time we had some points swappers in our home. They were great and left the house very clean and tidy.
We are new to LHS I’m wondering if there is a protocol about washing sheets, towels etc on departure ? Usually the swappers do not have time to do all this laundry before they leave (planes to catch etc) and this is completely understandable. Are there any tips you can give us regarding the linen situation. I have come home to heaps of sheets etc as i said not to worry about washing them but there is always so much.
We are loving the LHS experience and are hoping to improve our service over time. Many thanks for your ideas.

Generally I am very pleased with the operation of Lovehomeswap.I like the personal aspect of swapping and the mutual trust involved, compared with the impersonal feel to hotels. It is interesting to feel part of a neighbourhood.
I do not find the website easy to navigate at times but I have been able to easily contact one person who has patiently guided me.
There is a handy reminder of my upcoming swaps but no record of swaps to my place and I find that disconcerting.
It would be handy to know what houses are available for swap in a last minute type situation. Not easily possible at the moment because of time it takes to get a response. Could be country wide.
We have met lovely people around the world, and stayed in amazing locations.

Overall, it’s great, and we’ve done 2 successful swaps since joining last year.

I would say that I don’t find the platform particularly smooth/easy to use…the layout isn’t amazingly functional, or makes sense.

We have been with LHS for several years now and have had a number of experiences both receiving other families/couples and being guests in their homes.
What we particularly enjoyed has been the quality of these exchanges. Always interesting and very courteous people, as well as lovely homes. The diversity of settings and the quality of the exchanges is what have impressed us most.
When selecting a home exchange site of this sort, I would be careful to look at the density of choices in the parts of the world you are most interested in. For instance, there doesn't seem to be an abundance of offerings in the central United States.
Sometimes we have been a bit put off by the number of refusals and the lack of explanation. As we are most interested in a for-points exchange; that may be due to the fact that many homeowners can only do direct swaps, which would be mostly at the time of vacations. What's more, for some strange reason, not everybody is interested in traveling to the south of France.

My family has had the best experiences using love home swap. We have had trips that wouldn’t have been possible without the house swap element. From short getaways in our local area to a two month stint at Lake Tahoe, California. I can’t recommend this concept and this particular website enough.
