Extremely disappointing experience

Extremely disappointing experience. I paid for a one-month subscription but never received access at the email I used to sign up. I contacted customer support and, after providing all requested information, received no follow-up for four days. The lack of timely assistance shows they do not prioritize resolving customer issues. I feel I wasted $12 on a service that failed to deliver what was promised.

Worst app ever!

If I could rate it a negative star review, I would. The games are a joke. I ended up with mild cognitive impairment following a hit and run accident with 18-wheeler. I was told to do brain training like Lumosity.com. The games are not brain training at all. Then they automatically renewed my account twice because I changed email addresses. They refuse to refund the double charge.

Beware—you may not be getting all the content

Lumosity’s site lauds their newer games, but I couldn’t locate any of them on their website. I sent an email asking how to access them and again received links, but they don’t work for me. This is pretty crappy—I’m paying for content I can’t access and plan to cancel my membership.

The user experience is poor with the…

The user experience is poor with the application. It's clear they hire coders with no experience that don't know how to make a good interface; and the scoring is unfathomable. For the first issue, an example is Top That; if you go through it one time and the warning audience sound comes in, it won't again and the game just STOPS. What happened to clear the cache??? They are telling me I have to do that. Seriously? This is not supposed to be like work. For the other issue, an example is a memory game where it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a good score unless you have enough time but 19 out of 20 turns the time is too short to get anywhere and so your score goes down. Scores go down quickly once you play a game often; it takes forever to move the needle if you have done that. They say it's not about the score then why keep one? I have complained numerous times but nothing changs.

We were just billed $180 for a year

We were just billed $180 for a year. I used to like this site and the games but started to have problems last year with billing. I turned OFF the auto-renewal and yet the pmt (more than double what it was last year) still went through! This must be illegal. There is no way to cancel your subscription. It even says on their website that you don't need to cancel, just turn off the auto renewal. Well if that isn't even honored why bother? How do companies get away with this bad behavior?? It's infuriating!!! Slimeballs

I signed up for Lumosity for my husband…

I signed up for Lumosity for my husband after his stroke. It was too much for him and I did not cancel my subscription at that time thinking it would automatically time out after one year. I was wrong. I have continued to be billed for the last 5 years. They are impossible to get hold of to get any results for cancellation and once again this year I have been billed.

Be very careful with this company. They bank on you forgetting to cancel and make cancelling very difficult. As a result I will never use this site again and still have not been successful in cancelling my subscription, that has never been used.

Try to unsubscribe from this App and you will be on a Merry go round! My sister has been a client for 10 years and has tried to unsubscribe and stop direct debit payment. A nightmare. You go on their website click an area to unsubscribe, you get a message that they have sent you an email with a link. The email does not have a link it has an orange LOG IN spot, tap on that and you're back to their website asking you to log in, you log in, again you're told they have sent you an email, again with the orange LOG IN. This is a continuous circle they have you on. She has sent them 2 emails explaining she's in ill health and this is very upsetting for her. No response. Still no action. My sister asked me to write this for her as she's too stressed to talk about it anymore. Stay well away from Lumosity they are not to trusted. Very shoddy company.

The site is "down" as often as it is working. In the middle of a game, it will shut off. Even trying to access the site requires multiple times to access it. The support staff is of NO assistance. I've shared the problem multiple times and all they do is give excuses, but no assistance in correcting the concern.

Singing the praise for Lumosity

Singing the praise for Lumosity!
I was in a serious car accident that gave me a concussion and left me unable to put sentences together or find my way around my neighborhood grocery store. It was mortifying and truly humbling. My daughter said, "It's like you're a kid again, Mom," which brought tears of self-pity to my eyes. Anyway, my doctor recommended Lumosity Brain Training. Desperate to get back to my old cognitive self, I signed up and did Lumosity 3 or 4 days a week. The games were fun, but most importantly they worked. That accident was 12 years ago and the concussion has long since resolved. I'm not only back to my old cognitive self, but I'm BETTER (and friends & relatives have noticed). I absolutely astound myself with the stuff I can recall and how quickly. Truly astounding. I'll stick with Lumosity because it works and has made me better than ever. Grateful!!

Greed. Greed ruins all.

So I used this before in school, when I was around 12-16. I am now 24 it is saddening to see this whole site get greedy. Things that used to be free are now mostly things you need to pay for. Greed really does affect everything.

I love the games

I love the games! They are quick and quite varied and inventive. They seem to have strength in working memory games - something I need. I do also play games in several other 'brain builder' programs but this is one of my faves. I play it every day.

I have decided not to pay for Lumosity…

I have decided not to pay for Lumosity because there are very few games that are fun to play. I just love Train of Thought and enjoy a few such as remembering where the blocks were in the square, or matching the colour to the word. Some of the games seem so mindless. Filling the coffee cups for example, is literally a game that a two year old would enjoy. I got an invitation to play a game for two days that’s similar to TextTwist which I love. By the time I found the email half an hour later I was told I missed the chance. I probably would have bought the app if I had that and the train game but that was one too many annoyances so I’m done.

Unethical, don’t fall for their “lifetime” membership, it’s worthless when they lock you out!

I first tried this as a free short term service, Found it quite fun to use so signed up for a “Lifetime” subscription.
That was around nine or ten years ago. Now I find their meaning of “Lifetime” is that of a Gnat! - as I am locked out and asked to send full details of the payment used some ten years ago. Give me a break, who has access to that after a decade

If they updated their systems it is surely their responsibility to ensure existing contracts are honoured!

Very underhand and unethical treatment..avoid!

Unethical

Fifteen years ago there was a special, with Lumosty, where you could pay $200 for a lifetime subscription to Lumosity. This has suddenly been removed and I’m asked to show proof of payment to reinstate use of the app (hard to find after such a long time frame). A poor show on top of a company who has already received publicity about its unethical claims.

Since using Lumosity for around 10 years, I became a better speaker than ever, my memory improved, my attention improved, and it has been life changing. I began using when I broke an ankle. At first I was only good in the flexibility games, and now I have top scores in all areas.

Good variety of games and after using for 6 months I can see the improvement in my memory and recall - very happy with the program. All the kids enjoy the games as well which makes it easy to get them to have a go and challenge themselves.
