Best raw food for dogs

Best raw food for dogs. I order the boxes of patties that come in various flavours. My two wire haired dachshunds love it and I’ve noticed their coats are healthier since switching to Luna & Me. The delivery service is always reliable. Highly recommend.

Our little cats’ favourite food.

We’ve had two little cats slowly and timidly join our family in the past year, firstly sleeping in our garden, then moving into the cold frame and finally into the house. We didn’t know what they were eating previously but they have taken to Luna & Me food straightaway and are now happy and contented creatures. We trust that what goes into the food is the best thing for cats and that’s why we use it, and also because, even with cats being notoriously fickle, they haven't once decided that they no longer like it. I would highly recommend this food to family and friends - and cats, of course.

My girls absolutely love Luna & Me.

I starting buying luna and me when we brought our british short hair kitten home. She is now a year old and has grown beautifully on the food. I was surprised at how affordable feeding raw actually is compared to supermarkets packaged cat food. It’s so easy to store in our freezer. Delivery is so straightforward, we have never had any issues with receiving our package. We love luna and me so much, we transitioned our new ragdoll kitten on to it, and she is thriving. Both girls coats are glossy, they are a nice healthy weight. They have great tummy’s, and most importantly they love dinner time.

Patties changed consistency?

Have been feeding my dog the chicken patties for sometime (years) now as it’s the only thing we found that works for his delicate digestion. However the last 2 value boxes we’ve purchased, the consistency has changed and once thawed turns to a sloppy mess where as before it would retain its pattie shape. As my boy is very fussy he is refusing to eat the current defrosted patties. I am trying on my next order the duck patties instead but if they also go sloppy I think I’ll need to rethink future orders.

Avoid like the plague

if you live in a split house or flats don't bother, my neighbor recommended them, i ordered the trial pack but because theyd delivered the one time only deal to our address they didnt send it, id taken the day off work to take the delivery in, they wasted my time, i had to email and messaged them 4 times before theyd reply saying that theyd refund my order. dont waste your time with them, customer service is atrocious, before id even received the first order.

Its the first box I ordered that you cancelled and refunded, not the second. If youd have actually taken a moment to read any of my messages to you, or the former part of this review you could've worked that out, but thanks for clarifying how much you care about customer service.

To clarify, our system can only work with the details entered at checkout. In this case, the surname on the new order matched the name linked to the email address of the earlier account, and both were placed to the same household address. For that reason, the order was flagged as a duplicate Welcome Box.

Because our Welcome Box is a special one-time offer for new households, the order couldn’t be fulfilled. A full refund was issued straight away so no payment was ever held.

Ive finally found my brand after a sea of horrible experience

I’ve tried a number of the newer, popular cat food brands over the years, but Luna & Me far surpasses them in both quality and value.
It’s not sloppy like Katkin, nor wet and bony like Bella & Duke — and it’s significantly more affordable too.

The patties are brilliantly packaged, making them easy to store and portion out for my cats.
You can tell the meat is of a genuinely high quality — the patties are almost odourless, so you avoid that unpleasant lingering smell that often comes with other brands.

Best of all, my cats absolutely love it.
I’ll definitely continue using Luna & Me, and I’m so pleased to have finally found the perfect food after countless trial-and-error experiences with other brands.

Very Unlucky Experience with Luna & Me

Unfortunately, I had a very unlucky experience after ordering from Luna & Me for my puppy, Teddo.

First, there was an issue with the delivery. I received an email on 30th June saying “we’ve sent your order”, which led me to believe it would be delivered that same day. I waited all day, but nothing arrived. I emailed the company and got a call the next day explaining the actual delivery would be on 1st July. This was confusing — especially with raw food — as timing is crucial to ensure proper storage and food safety.

The bigger issue, however, came after feeding my puppy the food. Within a few days of starting the Luna & Me raw patties, he developed serious tummy problems, including diarrhoea and, eventually, blood in his stool. We ended up at the vet multiple times, doing tests, and finally he was diagnosed with campylobacter — a harmful bacteria. The vet strongly advised us to stop raw feeding immediately.

This whole experience resulted in my puppy having to stay overnight in the vet hospital and left us with a huge vet bill — not to mention the stress and worry it caused.

When I contacted Luna & Me, they responded politely and said it could be a “detox” period, and suggested giving yogurt. While I appreciated the communication, it didn’t match the severity of the situation we faced.

I’m sharing this review not out of anger, but to warn other pet owners to be very cautious — especially when switching to raw food. What works for some may not work for all, and sadly, it didn’t work for us.

All of our meals are handcrafted in our own kitchen, then independently tested through a positive release process, meaning no food ever leaves us without first being approved by an external laboratory. We are currently the only raw pet food company in the UK to use this method.

We’ve reviewed your batch records, and there have been no other reported issues associated with the recipes you received. Thousands of pets, including our own, are enjoying the same food from the same production runs without concern. From sourcing through to dispatch, our meals are kept at, -20°C or colder to protect both safety and nutrition.

That said, every dog is an individual. Puppies in particular can experience digestive upset for many different reasons, stress, sensitivity, dietary transitions, even environmental factors like worming or changes in routine. Much better quality than Bella & Duke…

Much better quality than Bella & Duke which I switched from as their meat smelt very bad and the colour looked unhealthy. Luna & Me barely has a smell to it. My 3 cats usually love it but also have spells where they go off it.. I think maybe they just get bored and want something new to try. My only gripe is the packaging, I hate hate hate polystyrene!!! I can’t recycle it anywhere near me and the small bits break off and go everywhere and it’s so bad for the environment. Please consider removing this packaging and just double box it like Bella and Duke do and their stuff always arrived still frozen.

Laughable customer service and dangerous advice.

My first frozen raw food delivery for my nine-week old puppy arrived thawed on a very hot day, I contacted Customer Services who said to refreeze the food and that it would be would still be perfectly safe for the puppy. I have fed raw meat to my dogs for years but not come across this, so I said I would double check with my vet. My vet advised that this was a very unsafe practise, particularly with a young puppy. I updated the company helpline and was escalated to a person who kept stressing that the owner is a qualified nutritionist, the inference being they knew better than my vet. When I asked what nutritional qualification the owner holds, as it's not on the website, the person couldn't tell me. We had clearly reached an impasse so I requested a refund on the grounds that the food was defrosted when it arrived, this was refused on the grounds that the owner knows what she is talking about, the inference being that my vet doesn't. My vet is very clear that defrosted raw meat should not be refrozen and then defrosted for a second time and fed raw to puppies.

Edited to say that after reading the feedback from this company to other customers experiences with the quality of the food, I am fully expecting a negative response and if this is the case I will be contacting my bank, disputing the payment and recovering the payment via them.

Uses Luna and me for years

Uses Luna and me for years, however on my last order I noticed the food going untouched, not by just one of my cats as then I would understand they can be fussy but all three of them? It was all dishes with chicken in them they walk over sniff and walk away, doesn't matter if I left out longer or tried again at dinner time. Changed the meal Beef and they all ate. My 5 month old sphynx will not touch the kitten patties as they are chicken. I reached out as this is first time I've ever had an issue in years and was hit with the generic reply of the hot weather affecting cats appetites etc I have had to order from Purrform and all three are eating everything inc chicken dishes. The fact all
Three turned nose up at chicken from Luna makes me wonder if the batch had an issue but there is definitely something going on. I've got a big order here that will all have to be binned and I'm really not happy about response and the fact it's unusable to me!

Of course, they’ll eat the alternative. That’s what cats do, one day they refuse a favourite, the next they clear the bowl. It doesn’t indicate anything wrong with the food, just a change in preference at that moment.

Our advice isn’t generic, it’s grounded in nutritional expertise and real-world experience. As pet nutritionists, we only offer recommendations we fully stand behind. Every batch of food is handcrafted in our DEFRA-approved kitchen, and we operate under a strict positive release system. That means nothing leaves our kitchen unless it meets our highest standards, so there’s no scenario where a faulty batch would ever be sent out.

We absolutely understand how disappointing it is to have meals go untouched, especially when you’ve placed a large order. While we can’t offer refunds when no issue is found, we’re more than happy to help adjust your next box to better suit your cats’ current preferences and avoid waste.

Poor Customer Service and Poorly Kitten

4TH EDIT: Still no response to emails requested my data (email addresses, home address, credit cards etc) be removed.

3RD EDIT- Luna and Me are now completely ignoring my requests for my data to be removed and for a refund. I have now asked 4 times for them to delete my data, credit card information and addresses. This has not been done. I shall continue to email and update my review until I receive a substantial response. Horrific customer service- avoid.

2ND EDIT- I have just received an email from Trustpilot saying Luna and Me had tried to have my review removed for ‘containing harmful or illegal content’. Trust pilot have now confirmed that my review is perfectly fine- quite from trust pilots email- ‘The decision

EDIT IN RESPONSE TO LUNA-
If you had read my emails and reviews correctly, you would see he was only on boiled chicken for a few days to settle his stomach. Your attempt to diminish my extremely qualified vets advice is appauling and shows the type of company you are.

The fact that anyone who comes to you with an issue with the food is met with aggression and lack of care is horrific.

I’ve been using Luna and Me for a few years now for multiple cats and generally been happy- had a few cracked boxes here and there or some very off-smelling food so had to throw away food but never been a huge issue for us.

What is a huge issue is how incredibly sick the food has made our new kitten and I strongly believe it should be noted on the kitten food to consult with vets before feeding as, what I hadn’t realised, is most vets do not advise feeding KITTENS raw food due to their immune systems and risk of dificiencies.

I would like to add that our kitten was weaned correctly onto the food but throws up every single meal without fail about an hour after eating Luna and Me. We have vet confirmation that he has no digestive issues issues, kidney problems etc) and we have been told to stop the Luna and Me food which we have. He then had to go on a short diet of boiled chicken to settle his stomach and has now been switched to an alternative brand as is doing great- no sick since stopping Luna & Me.

Also to add this has been over the span of a month as wanted to really be sure before I left a review. Not only was our poor boy very sick, but I have now had to throw away £50 worth of cat food, and spend even more to get something more suitable.

Again, with our two older boys weve generally had no issues. After our next delivery arrives, I will not be buying from them anymore.

I reached out to Luna and incredibly politely expressed my concerns. They took no blame in this and do not feel any additional information needs to be added to the website. I was, rather insultingly, offered a £5 voucher toward my next order. To which I have asked them to remove my details. Family and friends who I have also referred will also be going elsewhere.

Please consult yours vets before feeding- specifically for kittens.

Honestly incredibly disappointed and will now be finding a new brand for all of our current and future animals.

Our kitten recipes are developed by qualified animal nutritionists, made with responsibly sourced ingredients, and formulated to meet FEDIAF nutritional standards. Every batch is rigorously tested for safety and nutritional completeness. In this case, we found no fault with the food provided.

As with any diet, fresh or processed, individual sensitivities can occur, even when a food is expertly formulated. These cases are rare, but we take them seriously when they arise.
You mentioned veterinary advice as the reason for stopping the food. While we always encourage open dialogue with vets, it’s important to note this recommendation was made without diagnostic testing, following a brief consultation.

We were particularly concerned by the advice to switch to plain boiled chicken. While this can be helpful short term, it is not a complete or balanced diet for a growing kitten. Prolonged feeding may result in nutritional deficiencies, especially in calcium, taurine, and essential fatty acids, during a critical stage of development.

Some veterinary professionals may be cautious about raw feeding, often due to limited formal training in biologically appropriate diets. Most veterinary curricula focus on processed, commercial nutrition. At LUNA & me, we take an evidence-based, species-appropriate approach, grounded in over a decade of real-world success. Our focus is long-term health, nutritional integrity, and honest, expertly crafted food.

Bad batch, big vet bill.

My cats have been on raw since we got them, they are just over a year old and all had been going well. We changed over to luna and me and that also went well for months until we got a bad batch, both cats ended up with bacterial infections in their digestive system and a four figure vet bill needing iv fluids and overnight stay, out of hours too. The vet said it was probably the food, kept them on cooked until their treatment was over, they did well on this. After a couple of weeks I started to reintroduce raw, same lamb and chicken batch, but a new packet, within a couple of days we are back to fighting the bacterial infection they had been completely over for some time, I won't be feeding raw again. It's unfortunate we just happened to get a bad batch as raw feeding had been going great, and we are meticulous with hygiene when defrosting and serving so it was not user error. 2 stars because until this happened the cats liked the food and we had no issues.

Having looked through other reviews with replies I'm fully expecting a gas lighting reply about how it must be my end because this business is clearly immune to fault, definitely won't be recommending, and won't be trying again, shady business in my personal opinion, therefore I won't ever be trusting my pets health to them in the future. They are not rawsafe accredited either.

They've now asked me for my personal details, probably trying to get my review taken down, they won't find my purchase in any case as they supply my local raw dog food shop for working dogs which is where I made the purchase - since they started stocking raw cat food as well. They have not requested my bank statement, so no doubt my review will conveniently disappear (since writing this the company have done everything in their power to get this taken down but I have all documentation.)

I want to give my boy D’Jango the very best & I am confident that Luna & Me ticks all the boxes for quality products, good consistency protein, varied flavours & value. D’Jango loves all the proteins but is super keen to dive into the beefy beef & rabbit, rabbit, rabbit!

I buy a mix of mince and patties for variation, but find the patties very convenient.

My cat absolutely loves Luna & Me

My cat absolutely loves Luna & Me, and I love knowing she’s getting a balanced, high-quality raw diet with ingredients I can trust. Her digestion has improved so much since switching, after she had constipation issues, but this has now completely cleared up thanks to Luna & Me. The food is well packaged and easy to portion - i love the little patties. It feels great to support a company that clearly cares about pet health and sustainability. I’ll definitely keep buying from Luna & Me – it’s made such a positive difference in my cat’s life!

We swapped to Luna & Me from another…

We swapped to Luna & Me from another brand of raw food for cats whose quality we noticed had declined, and the price was far dearer for the amount we were ordering. We’ve been using solely Luna & Me for our cats for the last couple of years and, aside from the odd flavour that our fussier two don’t like, their bowls are always empty! My family always comment on how glossy our cats coats have become too. The dried snacks are great, we crush them up into smaller pieces and use them as a food topper still with some crunch for their tooth health!

100g pates are perfect size

100g pates are perfect for my smaller cat as I don't have to divide and weigh them, and can simply defrost one each evening for the following day.
