Cowboys!

The car broke down within an hour. The delightful man from the recovery company spoke no English, but tried to be very helpful. He booked us a hotel etc. Maggiore have not refunded any incurred costs, and have refused to communicate - they don't reply to emails and, when I rang them, they told me the policy was that I should contact the recovery firm. Profoundly unimpressed

Unprofessional and illegal

Terrible company
beware, they handed me a vehicle and told me it had only 3 minor scratches, upon inspection which had to be done late nigh when i collected the car, they told me i needed to check the car because anything else found will be charged, had to use my phone torch and i found over 10 scratches clearly visible but they hid this information from me. i had to video it and send it to them.
upon returning from my trip, they collected almost £150 from my credit card without my consent or explaining why, now nobody responds to emails and easyjet washed their hands by saying they were only intermediaries.

Rented a car from Maggiore for collection at Bari Airport, pain in full in June this year, due to flight cancellations on the 19th of July we had to Fly into Naples on the 21st, I got in touch to arrange the pickup which was fine after paying the one way drop off.
On my return to the UK the company charged me another almost £400 for this rental, when I say charged me they just took it off my card without me knowing..Double payment with an absolute terrible service trying to get some kind of explanation for this, please avoid using Maggiore at all costs, just a fraudulent disgusting company!

Poor experience, debited more than expected, avoid !

Hello, I've rent a car for 2 weeks from Bari airport this summer.
The car was ok, it was a T-cross from Volkswagen.
Yet at the end of the rental I was debited more than expected from my account, with an invoice that has no link to my experience with the car.
They debited me for the gas while I turn back the car with full tank, and also for an "upgrade" which I've not benefited from.
I went through rentalcars.com which was totally useless to help me on the matter, the only thing they did after making me wait for 2 weeks was to say "it's written on the invoice so it's like that".
Avoid this rental company if you can because I feel there is a lot of randomness in how much you'll pay at the end.
I've rent many cars in counties like Greece, Turkey, Spain etc. without issues, and Maggiore is really the worst experience I had, and when I read the reviews I wonder how this company can still be in business.

total fraud

Unfortunately, we did not check the comments prior to rental. What a mistake. Apparently, they are a fraud. They never returned the deposit and they took our rental document when we returned the car. It is my mistake I gave it to them but probably they are pro at this, so they were so confident that I did not question. Now we cannot get our money back.

They are absolute fraudsters. I booked via a uk agent and paid for full insurance. When I collected the car was told I had to take their insurance to cover the excess of €2,500 which cost a fortune. Plus haven’t received my deposit back, no explanation and no response to my emails. They are totally ripping off their customers.

They rent cars with very bad…

They rent cars with very bad navigation. When the car went in service , Maggiore did not answer to any call or mail so we coukd use tge 2 days out of 7 days for which we paied.
Maggiore works with Econony car rentals but do not recognized the fees we payed to ECR.
So there is scam with both companies.
Avoid Maggiore and avoid Economy car rentals.

Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong

I rented an electric fiat with a battery that runs ~150km on full charge, and I was not warned or given advice on what I need in order to charge it (turns out regular credit cards don't work at most charging stations in Rome/Naples, and the apps were not working successfully, some saying that they "are not available in your country." We ended up having the car towed without getting to our destination since we could not charge it (after over 6h of trying), and all attempts to contact Maggiore for help were not successful (at one point it said the number you have dialed is unreachable, which I assume meant they were closed for the day? This was me contacting Maggiore Rome AND Napoli). We had FULL insurance on the car and we ended up taking a taxi from Naples to Rome (we had missed the last bus and train back and needed to catch flights at 5am in Rome), and this should be covered by our insurance but attempts to get reimbursed have gone unanswered. So no, I will not be recommending Maggiore to anyone

Do not rent from them if you don't have to

I've rent a car online from second party and collected car from Olbia airport in May 2024, with full insurance( insurance wasn't from Maggiore) and small deposit blocked on credit card about £200. Car was OK, but with so many scratches and bumps. Guy from Maggiore was very nice and he advised us to check the car and to take a photo of all defects. Thanks God we did it !!! We returned a car back to deferent airport Cagliari very early morning, so office was closed and again collected all evidence ( we returned car with no new damages). After month I've discovered that from my credit card someone took around £600. After contacting my Bank I was advised to contact Maggiore, I didn't have any emails from them about the car at all. After a week of trying finally they respond telling me that I had returned the car with damage on the door. Because I have had pictures, I could prove it that this damage was there when I've rented a car. So Maggiore said there was an error and they refund the money back within 15 days. They never returned the money to my credit card, but on the day 18 I contacted my bank and the and the Bank returned all money to my card and open dispute with Maggiore.

Disgraceful company

This company is an absolute disgrace! We hired a car which broke down after 3 days, it took a day for it to be recovered and then I was told I would have to do a 3 hour round trip to pick up a replacement, which was totally unreasonable and given that it was a mechanical fault with the car I would’ve expected them to deliver a car to me. I declined a replacement car and relied on other means of transport instead. Upon returning to the UK I requested a refund for the unused days but was told that “as I returned the car early” I was not entitled to any reimbursement. Three weeks later I was then invoiced 70 euros for a quarter of a tank of fuel that was not only disproportionate but I could not have possibly refuelled as the car had broken down. All of the emails sent to me I could not reply to and the phone numbers were automated Italian answerphones. It’s worth noting that this company is part of Avis, so I recommend not dealing with either of them.

Do not use this car rental company!!

Do not use this car rental company!!! They just leave you without a rental car at a deserted airport at 00.00. They say the ICS credit card doesn't work. The real reason is that they have not joined 3D Secure (3DS). It is a protocol that adds extra security to online credit and debit card payments. It ensures that a form of online identification is added to the authorisation of a financial transaction with a credit card. You have been warned; they'll just leave you standing at night in a deserted airport!

Smooth

We were a group of 5 and were visiting friends in the mountains. Alps, I think it's called...? Eh, eh, anyway, it worked out to be just about cheaper to rent a car for the trip. I chose Maggiore because of their competitive booking fee, comparatively low deposit, and their car choices (everyone in my group wanted a big car!).

The pick up was from Milan Bergamo airport. The desk is in the terminal but the cars are in a nearby car park accessible by shuttle. Shuttle buses are frequent so we didn't have to wait long, maybe a few minutes. The lady at the desk offered insurance but I didn't feel pressurized into buying. I bought insurance from them for peace of mind, although I could've got insurance from another provider. I'd booked a group K car which in the pic on their website was for a Jeep Compass hybrid or similar. They gave us an MG HS, a mid-size SUV which is comparable, if not, a little less economical on fuel. But that was ok as we drove mostly on the motorway.

Returning the car was easy, just park it back in the same spot and return the keys to one of the staff. Maggiore then returned me the full deposit after 4/5 days.

Overall, an easy and stress-free experience. I'd recommend them to anyone. Grazie!

Maggiore AirPort Veneza don’t take cals or email ir you have problem in the flight and close ofice

This is a serious warning: NEVER book a car with Maggiore!

I booked and paid for a car, and I even contacted them during the day to confirm my arrival time. They assured me there would be no problem, but when I arrived, the rental office was CLOSED! Despite their promises, I was left stranded, without a car, and with no one to help!

The next day, I was told that my reservation was GONE and that I would get NOTHING! Maggiore did NOTHING to fix this mess. I was left without a car for the remaining days of my trip, with no refund, and no way to continue. This company is a COMPLETE SCAM!

If you don’t want to be stranded, ripped off, and left with your plans ruined, AVOID Maggiore at all costs. They will destroy your trip and leave you with NOTHING!

We rented a car with this joke of a…

We rented a car with this joke of a company a couple of weeks ago in Milan Malpensa and returned it at Rome Fiumicino yesterday, when we booked it stated that they did not charge the one way fee, when we got there not only did they give us a different (smaller) car than what we booked, they also charged us €120 for one way fee, when we asked why we were given a different car their excuse was that it was in the same category as the one we booked, NO IT'S NOT!! We had a horrible experience with them and the staff in Milan Malpensa were so unhelpful and so rude especially the guy that we encountered at the car park, he was horrible to deal with. Never again!

Forced to pay on car damage wasn't done by us

Falsely accused us of damage to the car that was already there and charged us without any notice nor without telling us a huge amount of money (1140 euros!!).
Only when we called the client service we heard that there is a charge due to car damage and we were shocked since we returned the car in the same shape we got it.
Other than that the client service doesn't help since the only way to communicate on this damage is via emails which they do not answer in a systematic way.
Very Very annoying! Feels like a scam and in addition to all that they are not providing any proof of damage. We are a young couple with 2 kids and we drove safely and secure and nothing happened to the car while we had it.

Do not rent from this firm, total scam

Do not rent from this firm. The will add costs to your bill and withdraw money without any information, even if you have a full insurance. It is impossible to communicate with them and they do no randomly answer emails. Much cheaper to rent from well know rental firm instead, even if they initially seem to be more expensive then Maggiore.
