MAGIX = GREEDY & STINGY - Follow Up
So, Magix replied to my previous post, that is very nice of you Magix and I see that you kinda care but you still don't.
So their excuse was that the Magix Music Maker is intended for Private Home Use and... AND! Acid Pro was for Commercial Use. Honestly, who are they trying to fool here? If that is true then why sell the Commercial Use loops (Royalty Free) on the Magix Music Maker Platform? I downloaded Acid Pro and guess what? The Loop Packs sold in that store is all Royalty Free but they are also PRICED as such, no deals or discounts and they don't have the NON-Commercial pack option.
So, if you intended to sell one for Private Home Use and the other for Professional Commercial Use then there is something there that doesn't add up. My whole thing about Magix Music Maker is if you have or provide credit towards a purchase, let us use it toward both Commercial and Non-Commercial packs. At least let the customer decide weather they want to pay the difference and get the Commercial use or just get the Freebie and play around at home like a wannabe music producer.
Plain and simple, nothing out of context and everything is out in the open. Two software's that pretty much do the same thing, one is labeled as Private Home Use and the other for Pro Users but the end product is the same.
They brush you off in their reply that they will take my suggestion and pass it on to the relevant department, HAHA, that is something to laugh at. I've been in contact with their sales department and their last reply was what they have posted as a reply for my post. Copy & Paste...
We are not asking for much as customers, you can do that... I just purchased a cheap voucher and applied it towards a pack that is twice the price of the pack and it is for commercial use. Please stop hiding behind the fact that it something not doable... at least know your loyal customer will come back and spend more on your platform and software if they were treated right... What a Shame!

I have been using the tool for years (I upgraded the version a number of times)
It makes it easy to create very nice stories to show on blu ray or USB stick.
It creates nice effects, you can create even travel plans animations.
Last time, I experienced major issues. The application crashed every 5 minutes.
I contacted the support late in the evening via mail. The next morning, I got already some feedback, some information to gather...
Then very soon after that a solution was offered that worked very fine.
So problem resolved within 24 h! (I had to upgrade my video driver).
Nice tool, great support !!

Photostory 2020 freezes on Win11
I've had Photostory since 2018, then upgraded to 2020. Not used it for some time, but decided to try it yesterday only to find that it was pushing for update of the update tool (!) which I did. Then the app itself froze after a couple of minutes, requiring a forced close and restart. Had this happen repeatedly to the point where today I uninstalled it. I then logged into my account to perform a fresh install. That seemed to go ok, but guess what, started freezing again and had the same experience as the day before.
I thought I'd try and contact customer support (which is difficult to find). I eventually found a link to email them (from my 'personal; service area'), which then took me to a login page (bear in mind I'm already logged into my account on another tab?!?!). Entered my login credentials only to be told "Unfortunately you could not be signed in! Please check the email address and password entered." How? I'd just logged into my account with exactly the same credentials and that gave me access to my purchases.
Just seems they want to send you on a wild goose chase, rather than provide working software and good customer support.
It's a pity as the software is good when it works (I also have various versions of Vegas and Music), but I won't be taking them up on any of the offers they keep pushing any time soon.

Magix photostory deluxe freezing
Having used magix for many years with not a single problem, I bought a brand new version of magix photostory deluxe 2019 as my OS will not accept the old software. My pc covers all needs for this version.
Spent all day trying to get this to work but to no avail. Freezes asking for updates but after downloading, won't install. Program constantly freezing and nagging for updates that never finish. After finally getting it shut down each time, my pc is pretty much unresponsive so I have to do emergency shut downs.
Nero is another company I swore by that went down the toilet with its bloated and useless software. What's wrong with these companies? Can't they see that people won't part with their cash when trust is lost?
I've uninstalled magix deluxe and will try a new install without the bloated music program install tomorrow.
Checking online, it seems I'm far from alone with these problems. I Will post updates as I progress.
Update 2nd December 2023.
Tried new install. This software is total garbage. Bloated, Slow, unresponsive, even after the online upgrade. Just having it on my pc is causing major problems opening folders and getting anything done.
Systematically uninstalled travel maps, speed burn and cloud import. Have now only got the bare bones of this software in deluxe photostory and effects and it's working but very slow. Advertisements are set on as default. All in all and IMO, I've been ripped off. WARNING Leave this trash alone. Magix.com have proven they don't care about customers.
Update: 8th December 23. My response to Magix reply...
This reply is simply a corporate bog standard reply. Looking at all the other reviews over time, you'll see it everywhere. I doubt if there's any human input to it apart from clicking send. Magix, at this point in time, and after many complaints regarding this software on many PCs that are more than capable of handling it, shouldn't need feedback. Simply loading it onto any device will show them what's wrong. People are seeing through lame Excuses and now voting with their feet. My advice? Walk away from Magix.com and spend your money on a company that knows what it's doing.

Bad experience with Music Maker Premium.
....I have been using Magix Music Maker since 2021, I really appreciate it, quite competitive.....But unfortunately like many users, (Many), the program works badly and is constantly crashing, consequently projects and backups are burned. I have contacted technical support several times but their response only says that my PC has an obsolete BIOS. But reading many Italian and German forums they all have the same crash problem.....This means that all people's PCs who makes productions are obsolete?......Dear developers, many users have problems so it's "your" problem if the program crashes for thousands of users and not just me. It's been happening for several years and still in 2023 you didn't give the program "any improvements". My PC is powerful enough, suitable for creating music, assembled in November 2021 and I can guarantee you that "no program" has ever crashed, never any program..... Magix Music Maker is the only program ever that constantly crashes and I remind you again that currently, in 2023, it still happens to many users and not just me.
97% of the negative reviews speak for themselves.....Users really disappointed!!

Magix movie maker is one of the worst…
Magix movie maker is one of the worst programs out there. I bought a powerful new laptop with the hope this would improve Magix Movie performance but it crashes just as often, has special effects that can't even compete with a basic mobile phone and even when I add effects in it distorts or changes other parts of the video. If you have one or two clips to piece together it will probably be OK to use, anything more, don't bother. I'm literally looking at another frozen screen as I write this. No doubt Magix would say user error, but it's program fatal error, the user error was buying it...

Sent an email to Magix explaining my disappointment and loyalty after 18 years but just an email
"You've Been Refunded" with no explanation or trying to keep me as a customer.
Each upgrade also got more and more BUGGY with previous problems from past years not fixed even problems installing the 2024 version needed a work-a-round to install properly.
Awful customer service. Use to be a good company many years ago but not anymore it seems.
If Magix does not want my money for new and future upgrades plenty of other Video Software Companys will. Looks like time to move on and try something new.
UPDATE: In Response to your reply below it clearly shows your NON attempt to keep customers and produce a quality product. Why pay £69.99 for an upgrade that DOESN'T Allow you to use the upgraded features.....BEWARE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS

Customer service and subscription model

This is not a new purchase requiring a refund. This is a long existing customer who has experienced the decline in Magix as a company. Heck, if it was a new purchase taking weeks for response and resolution, I would have disputed it with my credit card.
Your comment as an excuse that it takes days to a week for a response is because you are in Germany and I am in the USA is laughable. An email takes seconds to travel across the world. Not a week! When Sony owned it before you bought it, we could get live phone support the same day and email responses within hours and Live Chat, as well.
Your refund offer is also insincere and baloney! I have sent emails to that email you said in your response, info@magix and it is as bad and slow as response time and resolution in contacting tech support. NO EXCUSE.
You knew when you bought the products from Sony that your customers were global and not just in Germany. You have a customer base around the world and an obligation to provide world class support to all your customers or don't sell the product to anyone except in Germany. Laughable!
BMW and Mercedes provide world class support to all their customers around the world. You should sell your pro line of audio and video software to another company.
On average, it takes a week for any response when you start a case. Then, the back and forth email replies take forever. My case is on it's 3rd week. Unacceptable.
In my case, you should be able to fix what is corrupt in your activation code by issuing a new one immediately to give me access to my paid for software, so, I can simply install it on my new computer. If necessary, if it is not resolved in 1 or 2 emails, it should be escalated to someone else for speedy fast resolution.
Sony is a global company. Before you bought out Sony, the support was USA based and you could speak to a person on the phone and get a response to an email the same day within hours. Plus, live chat.
As a global company with a large worldwide customer base and premium product pro pricing, you need to support all customers in a reasonable time frame.

Every bad review of the basically non-existent customer service at Magix is 100% correct. It is beyond unacceptable. The professional grade software is premium priced and there is basically no support and they do everything to discourage any kind of attempt to contact them for anything. I have an activation issue to install the software and after two weeks it has not been resolved.
To begin with, I had to hunt down a way to contact them. Took about 30-minutes to find a way to send an email and create a ticket which is supposed to be answered in 2-4 days. Baloney. Most reputable companies have a simple support link at the bottom of their home page or inside the account when you log in. With Magix, you log in and click support and you go through an endless amount of click here and click there and you go to search and nothing leads to a form to submit a ticket, live chat or anything.
You have to figure out on your own while you are frustrated to try and log in a 2nd time to the community forum. You get to the community forum, you post your concern and then a day later, an end user responds to tell me that Magix doesn't even pay for a moderator to monitor posts regularly to step in and help. It is completely a user forum. One of the users pointed me to a link to the carefully hidden way to create a ticket. So, you think your ticket is now in progress? Hell, no. Eventually, you get an automated robo email in your inbox that scanned the problem and provides links to their knowledgebase and you have to reply back to the email to finally start a ticket to tell them that the automated suggestions didn't work. This is after you went through those suggestions days ago. NOW, ALL YOU CAN DO IS WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT.
Then, after almost a week, I get an email reply asking me for additional information like more screenshots when I sent them the screenshots and the popup Error Code 24. Now, I have to reply and wait days more for a response and we go through these entry level steps to problem solving a 2nd time and it's now been 2-weeks and I can't use my software.
I was an old Sony Sound Forge customer. I'm done. This is unacceptable. Nobody to call on the phone. No Live Chat and a week between replies. I spotted in their community forum, unhappy users about crashing software asking for refunds, waiting for weeks for someone to respond. All they can do is put a dispute in with their credit card.
If you go to the user forum, it all matches the Trust Pilot comments. Software that crashes a lot, bad customer service and if you aren't already stuck from buying from them already, STAY AWAY! If you have a version of Magix software- DO NOT BUY AN UPGRADE. JUST STAY AWAY! MAGIX IS BAD NEWS!!

Absolute garbage
Absolute garbage! I bought Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium and wish I had not done so. The program rarely worked and when I bought a codec so that I could edit .MOV files, they would not display properly. Support was absolutely no help either. Will not ever be buying from this company again.
Furthermore, I have another program that is from this company which I have owned for a long time, Sound Forge Audio Studio 15 which they bought from Sony when it was discontinued. The program while functioning well enough, is never able to update.

Perfect software for the beginner producer and mixer. The free version gives you a head start and more loops packages can be purchased. Well worth it!! I have previously bought an older version and fully satisfied with what I achieved. Enjoy!

Once Great Software; Ruined by Magix
I've been using Sound Forge, ACID, and Vegas for 20+ years; as far back as when the software was made by Sonic Foundry. Back then, the programs were professional in terms of workflow, they were reliable, and they were rock-solid stable. The same can be said for when they were owned by Sony. But things changed after being purchased by Magix.
Since then, the programs have become buggy, unstable, and unreliable. And the problems get worse with each new version.
Furthermore, important & practical features have been removed; having been replaced with silly "bells & whistles" fluff features. The programs are no longer professional in scope & workflow. They're dumbed down, unstable messes; geared towards the general consumer market. Even the current UIs look childish.
Bottom Line: These programs are no longer a good option from a professional standpoint, and my recent upgrades of these programs was my last. I've already begun looking elsewhere. Those of you considering a purchase of any of these programs should definitely look elsewhere as well. Magix has somehow managed to ruin all 3. Nowadays, these once great programs have become nothing more than buggy, consumer-based trash.
