Huge credit consumption with unclear Video Upscaler confirmation
I had a very disappointing experience with Magnific/Freepik, especially regarding the credit management of the Video Upscaler.
I had been a customer for several years with another account, back when the service was still Freepik, and I had always been very satisfied. For this reason, this experience was even more disappointing, as I expected much more transparency and better support for a long-time customer.
I purchased a Premium+ Annual subscription with 500,000 credits per year. While using the Video Upscaler, two executions consumed a total of 137,126 credits, which is more than 27% of my entire annual plan. Converted into monetary value, this represents more than €100 worth of credits used in a very short amount of time.
The main issue is not that the Video Upscaler consumes credits, but the lack of a clear and truly visible confirmation before starting such an expensive operation. In other tools on the platform, the credit consumption is clearly displayed and often requires a confirmation step. In my case, simply clicking the “Run” button was enough to immediately start a process that consumed tens of thousands of credits.
The worst part is that a second execution was triggered accidentally due to a misclick. Even though I stopped it immediately, it was still counted as a separate execution and contributed to the total credit consumption.
I contacted support several times and also sent a screen recording showing that, in my interface, there was no clear cost warning before starting the operation. At first, support replied by talking about a Seedance 2.0 Mini promotion, which had absolutely nothing to do with the issue I had reported. Later, they acknowledged that the consumption was related to the Video Upscaler and refunded only 20,000 credits as a “goodwill gesture.”
When I asked them to point out the exact moment in my recording where the estimated cost or protection toggle was supposedly visible, they replied that they could not provide a specific timestamp, because their review was based on how the feature is designed to work across the platform in general, not on a detailed analysis of my actual session.
In practice, the case was closed without a proper review of the video evidence I had provided.
I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the interface itself is very functional and, with the right prompts, the generation quality can be very high. However, all of this is ruined by unclear credit management and disappointing customer support, which in my case did not properly address the main issue.
In my opinion, for operations that can consume tens of thousands of credits with a single click, there should be a much clearer warning and a mandatory confirmation step before starting. This is especially important when dealing with credits purchased through an expensive annual subscription.
In the end, I lost 137,126 credits for two executions, one of which was accidental, and received a support response that did not truly address the lack of transparency around the cost before the operation.
After this experience, I do not think I will renew or continue using the service in the same way. In the future, I will definitely consider competitors, because even a very good product loses value if credit management is not transparent and support does not provide real protection for the customer.
I recommend anyone using Magnific to be extremely careful with the Video Upscaler and to check every possible indicator before clicking “Run,” because a single click can consume a huge amount of credits.

Charged in full for a plan I couldn't properly evaluate, refund denied 3 times
I downgraded my subscription from Premium to Essential on 06/29. At that exact moment, the page that's supposed to show what's included in the Essential plan was returning a 404 error, so I had no way to check whether it included stock/image access before choosing it.
I only found out Essential doesn't include stock access — the one feature I actually needed — after downgrading. Because of that, I switched back to Premium 5 days later, on 07/04.
I contacted support three times asking for a refund of the Essential charge (not the upgrade, the unused plan itself). Every single reply was a generic template about "upgrades not being refundable," which doesn't even address what I was asking. None of the three responses engaged with the actual issue: the broken page that prevented me from making an informed choice.
After my last message, I checked the same page again and it had been fixed. So this wasn't a random glitch — it was broken for over a week and only got fixed after I raised the complaint.
I'm not against paying for services I actually use and choose knowingly. I am against being charged for something I couldn't properly evaluate due to the company's own broken page, and then getting ignored with copy-paste responses when I asked for a fair review.
Update: This was resolved. After escalating, a support rep (Neve) actually looked into the specific issue instead of repeating the generic policy replies I got before, and we worked out a fair resolution together.
I'll leave the original review as context for others, but wanted to note that the situation was ultimately handled well once it reached the right person. Updating my rating to reflect that.

Descent Image Generation, Poor Text and Logo Reproduction
I have used it for several months. I found the image generation good, although I usually had to edit and regenerate each image multiple times before it got it correct. Eventually got what I needed but it is frustrating. Text and logos are definitely a major problem - misspelling, jumbled, non-existent words, logos that look nothing like what you uploaded etc. For example, uploading a picture of a product with text and logo and trying to create an image using that product. Good luck.
For video generation it was the same - terrible at reproducing text and logos within the video. I have been trying to generate a single video and used up half of my monthly credits and it never got it right. I finally dropped it. I was trying to create a video that highlighted a product with text and logo. Tried multiple times and each time words were misspelled, logos jumbled etc.
If you have patience, it did a good job on images and if you don't care about text and logos in the video it is OK.

"Unlimited" meant unlimited — until it didn't
I subscribed specifically because the plan advertised genuine unlimited generation, no cap, no time limit. I was a considerate user — I'd only generate 1-2 variations at a time instead of maxing out every prompt, because I didn't want to hammer their infrastructure.
Since the Magnific rebrand, "unlimited" now means: generate a few dozen images and then wait several minutes between generations, regardless of which model you use, even the lightest ones. This applies no matter how light the model is. This isn't a fair use policy catching abuse — it's a bait-and-switch on a term that used to mean what it says.
I didn't sign up for "unlimited, subject to whatever throttling we decide to add later." If the plan can't actually support unlimited generation, don't call it unlimited. Cancelling and looking at alternatives.

Paid in full, never received the subscription — and support is unreachable
I purchased a Premium subscription and my card was charged in full. The transaction shows as completed on my bank statement, yet my account is still stuck on the Free plan. I have not used a single credit.
I reported this through Instagram and was told to email support magnific.com, which I did with full proof of payment. The only reply I got was a generic message saying they have a "high volume of requests" and that if I don't respond they'll assume it's resolved and close the ticket. I replied immediately asking them to reopen and prioritize it — and since then, complete silence.
So at this point I've paid for a service I cannot access, and there is no actual person to talk to. Auto-responses that threaten to close your ticket are not customer support. I just want either the Premium plan I already paid for, or a full refund.

Easy to use
Easy to use, and now with the added AI edit feature it is even easier to use. Been using this image site before the rebrand and will continue to use it in the future.

The old Magnific.ai was MAGNIFIC, fast, reliable and easy to use, helped my workflow a lot and i spent a lot of $$$ on it. The change now is trash, upscaling images either take +20 mins or just cancel automatically... they had something

I've been really impressed with Magnific! The quality is amazing, and the AI creates stunning results. My favorite feature is the motion transfer—it can copy the movements from a reference video and apply them so naturally. The final videos look incredibly realistic and high quality. Definitely one of the best AI tools I've used. Highly recommended!

Give me back the money you promised to…
Give me back the money you promised to return to me. Magnific took over 150 pounds from me when I was trying to cancel an 8 pound subscription. I contacted it immediately and received a written assurance this money would be returned to me within 3-5 business days. This was in April and I am still waiting for the money. It has since ignored multiple emails and messages about this. Incredibly dodgy and criminal behaviour.
EDIT: Responding to Magnific's reply: please could you provide me with an email address that you actually check? Given the number of times I've contacted you and been ignored, this information is essential.
