So a family friend of mine was having some small furniture removed. A simple job, not too taxing. All that was needed was a man... with a van. So we decided to browse the internet in search of an affordable man with a van to help us carry out such an easy task. Unfortunately the man they sent was a small, slim, miserable man in his mid to late 40's who showed up with a chip on his shoulder.
We were very respectful and welcomed him, he sneered at us and proceeded to complain that the size of the job was larger than he excepted (bearing in mind we are talking just a few very small pieces of furniture not the contents of Fatsie manor) as we started to do all the work for him and load up the van he stood on his phone doing nothing despite being payed for his time.
On the journey over he constantly moaned and complained about the job and pointed out that he would be raising the price. So we arrived at the location (a short ten minute drive away from where we began our journey) and we then had to unload the van and carry most of the stuff upstairs ourselves. The "man" with the van of course stood around on his phone complaining and letting his displeasure be known to us. We ignored him and got all his work done for him. When we were finished doing his work I was ready to tell him to clear off empty handed with no pay, but a family member of mine was far too generous and against my advice gave the "man" his full pay plus an extra £40 tip on top of it. That certainly wound me up and when the "man" got his money he left without even saying thank you and could not get away quick enough.
Needless to say I shall not be hiring from this company again and will be advising anyone looking for a man with a van to look elsewhere. Useless, arrogant, lazy con artists.
