Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 2,100 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported issues with the quality of products, including food items being unappetizing or spoiled, and clothing arriving in poor condition or with inconsistent sizing. There were also frequent complaints about online orders, with many experiencing delays, incorrect items, or cancellations without notification. Customer service was often described as unhelpful and difficult to reach, leading to frustration when trying to resolve problems. However, some people mentioned positive experiences with certain products, such as comfortable bras or specific food items like eclairs. A few reviewers also highlighted excellent service from staff members in physical stores, praising their helpfulness and cheerful demeanor.

Flowers let down again

So this is the 3rd time of having an issue with sending flowers.Either out of stock running late or a delivery problem.Sent flowers for a death so quite urgent, Flowers again not delivered on time, the next day offered 10% off then £10 for a £40 bouquet....delivery name incorrect on the card (LF) put in brackets 3 times which was not my doing.Eventually a stop was put on the delivery and a full refund.I went to interflora sent a huge beautiful box it cost £15 extra but delivered within 3hrs with no stress so well worth it.After 3 problems 3 times in a row I will never buy flowers from Marks and Spencer again.

Possibly racially profiled in M&S store in Bexleyheath…

I went into M&S store in Bexleyheath this afternoon around 12.20ish to look for a specific shacket/jeans jacket for my wife as it shows online this store has some in the size I wanted,I found the jacket in a bigger size so I cared it towards the till where I seen a young female M&S staff standing by herself so I approached her and asked if she could check if there’s a xs size in the jacket in store, she told me she is serving someone, then a Asian female customer walked over and said something to her,I said I didn’t know she was busy and offered to wait, but she said the jacket I am looking for there is more by the entrance and I should check there,I thanked her and went to check where she said but found a total different jeans jacket so I returned to the same staff and told and showed her the jacket was totally different and didn’t she see the type of jacket I showed her that I was looking for, she admitted she didn’t,I then told her that she had made me feel like I was trying to push in early when i first approached her when in fact she was on her own and not serving anyone and didn’t like the way she dealt with me,she said said she had listened to me and there was no more to talk about,I told her that I would like to speak to a manager, she said said she was sorry.i said i didn’t accept her apology and could she request a manager for me.she went over the till and spoke to an older white woman then she returned and told me there was no manager available,I asked why was one not available she said they was all in a meeting then a black security man came over and spoke to the older lady at the till and came over to me and the young female staff and spoke to her and she gave him a brief description of what happened,he then approached me and apologised and said she’s sorry and there’s no manager available and I should just leave it,I told him I would get the store customer service number online and make a complaint and do a online review of my bad experience here,he then said he will take me to a manager in the food department which he did,a man called Stuart who didn’t have a ID information on his lanyard tag,Stuart listened to me and got a female colleague manager to join us and I told them what happened, they agreed to investigate my complaint,I asked for a reference number for my complaint and asked will I be updated with the outcome, they said no they don’t give any complaint reference number and I won’t get any disciplinary outcome because of data protection but they Will look into it,the white female manager said her partner is a black man and it’s not racism,I also made the managers aware that I felt like staff had called security staff for me like I was causing problems or something, it felt like I was being racially profiled as there was no reason for the security staff to be called apart from the till staff who called for security felt threatened for no reason, and then the security staff was trying to intimidate/convince me to leave the store without seeing a manager at first.
The manager Stuart did try to find the jacket for me but it was not available in store in the size I wanted.
I am really upset at the bad treatment I received in that M&S store it feels like I was being racially profiled and customer service was non existent, not what I expected from a big store like M&S,I have been shopping in M&S since my teens and I am in my mid 60s now,I will definitely not be shopping there again, terrible experience very rude staff.

£7.50 smoked mackrel VS £2.50 at Lidl

Went for smoked mackrel at Hayle but £7.50 ( though was reduced as no one was buying it ) so after being confused and thinking I'd time travelled 10 years in the future and prehaps putting it down to a decade of inflation I went to Lidls ... £2.50 .... much better.
M&S what are you thinking .. they moan about theft but £7.50 is theft !!!!
I'd add the Lidl one was resonsibly sourced as well. So only difference is the smoking process but 3 times the price ................

Delivery service worse than poor

Delivery service worse than poor . Unpredictable and unreliable. Partly because of overuse of EVRI - a company who make every delivery an issue. Order placed on 2nd for delivery on 8th. Same me items delivered on 7th. Advised another due on 13th even though tracker says it has been delivered already. Now advised it’s coming today - 9th. Who knows? Useless - what is happening m&s?

Dreadful

I ordered a selection of clothes and accessories online over 4 weeks ago and the delivery date keeps changing. Some items were cancelled this week as they are no longer available. Completely unreliable. What has happened to M&S?

Perishable goods not delivered as DPD…

Perishable goods not delivered as DPD could not find the address.Spoke to customer services who were not really helpful. Got to give DPD 72 hours to deliver or I can get a refund??how ridiculous as I said perishable goods. Both customer services reps I spoke to were not fluent English speakers so I don't know where they were based?
M & S really do need to do better(P.S. 2nd DPD delivery today with same result/different area's???

Ridiculous unhelpful service at Gemini once again.

I haven’t bought anything recently from M&S but after having promises of extra points if I purchased something I decided to give it a try.I ordered 7 t shirts with a discount and some underwear total£90.On receipt of my order I opened the bag and the smell from the tops was awful. It was a damp musty smell, horrible. I returned the items next day and the unhelpful person on returns didn’t respond just straight faced asked for my order number ,that’s changed ,it used to be on the bag.She said I couldn’t get a refund ,I said I have before.Another person came and said did I have the app on my phone ,no I don’t.Very reluctantly I was given a refund but couldn’t get a receipt. How ridiculous does this shop have to get ?

Very disappointed with my online order

Very disappointed with my online order. I purchased a pyjama set and a dressing gown, but both items arrived poorly packaged – still on hangers and simply thrown into the bag without even being folded properly.
It honestly looked like the items had been taken straight from a shop rail or previously returned by someone else. This is not the standard I expect when ordering online from a retailer like this.
I expected items to arrive neatly packed and in proper condition. Unfortunately, this experience left a very poor impression.

Pyjamas were WAY too big

Pyjamas were WAY too big. I ordered medium as I am 5ft 7inches 38 chest. The pyjamas would fit someone 4 inches taller, much longer arms and at least 44 inch chest. M&S needs to employ someone who knows how to use a tape measure! I will donate them to charity and buy Lands End next time - at least they know how to use a tape measure.

Nice product but too slow to arrive
8 days for delivery is too slow compared to every other online order, I waited for the product to come into stock then waiting another 8 days is a lot to ask

Extremely disappointed with Marks and…

Extremely disappointed with Marks and Spencer Customer Service. I tried for hours yesterday evening to make an online order to use my 20% discount code for tshirts. Having loaded 7 into my basket I was unable to complete the order as the screen was just whirring and not completing. It was the last day for the discount so I continued to attempt to complete during the evening. As it was after 8pm I was unable to call the assistance line. Today I am still unable to complete therefore gave them a call to report the glitch however they are unwilling to honour the discount today. And, also blame me for not contacting Customer service yesterday... despite this having closed at 8 pm. For shame Marks and Spencer, I expected better from you.

Ordered a black shirt

Ordered a black shirt. It arrived with no cellophane wrapper, no protective packaging at all just shoved inside a plastic postage bag and folded as if it was going straight into the ironing basket. How shoddy is that.

Return activated immediately.

If you can’t be bothered to deliver quality, don’t expect your customers to accept second best.

Awful customer service

What an awful experience trying to return some trousers! Bought some Dark navy trousers I tried them on at at home - we have a very thick carpet and as I was taking them off they had picked up fibres that were so small I hadn’t even noticed them
When I got to the returns desk the assistant said “ we can’t resell these they’re full of hairs “ what an awful attitude and a complete exaggeration
She sought advice from manager who agreed to accept “ on this occasion “ she inferred I could have used a lint roller on them to remove hairs - as I said they were so small it was hard to see unless they were scrutinised - it felt like the assistant was looking for a reason to refuse the return -after speaking to the manager again to give feedback on the assistant attitude I left feeling very very upset and disappointed

What a disappointment with my order

What a disappointment with my order! Ordered black framed mirror but received gold instead. Called. Customer services advised to return the wrong colour and that the replacement will be send out, no emails confirmation or anything to track down the replacement. Called customer services and was told that replacement will be delivered on the 4th of April but never was delivered or wasn’t notified about delays, what a disappointment M&S especially we wanted to have this mirror for a Easter after decorating our house.
