We used the firm for selling/buying our house. Very professional service with good communication & attention to detail. We dealt with Jaspreet who was extremely helpful & knowledgeable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her services as they were exemplary.

We required a solicitor who could assist us with our conveyancing from overseas. Sharon helped us through our journey and kept in contact with us throughout. We only had to send one set of papers by DHL and all other paperwork was online. Thank you Sharon for your help and guidance. We would definitely use your services again and the fees were lower than our usual family solicitor.

Easy and Professional

I have recently used Mcgregor Macleod Solicitors as a conveyancer. I was a first time buyer with little to no knowledge of the the process. It made was hassle free and simple with the advice given by them, specifically in my case by Sharon. I would definitelty reccomend them.

I purchased my house in March and using mcgregor Macleod added so much stress onto the process. I am not kidding what I say it was a nightmare.

Hazel originally was dealing with our purchase. She left and we were never told after not hearing from anyone for a period I called and was told she wasn’t working there anymore! (This was probably around 1 & 1/2 weeks before the purchase of our house was due to be complete).

It wasn’t a great experience with Hazel anyway, my emails went unanswered multiple times it was rather frustrating.

We then were assured that our paper work would be looked over and a call returned. Anyway it turned out very last minute that they needed additional paper work from us and that we were supposed to have had docs signed that we hadn’t even been sent! This was all in the final 5ish days before we were supposed to get our keys. It was so stressful.

I expressed how unhappy I was with my entire experience of the company to Marie on the phone so this review should not be a surprise. We also recently got a penalty notice from revenue Scotland saying our land and buildings transaction tax was returned late. We were assured by this solicitor that it was because of covid and it would be revoked. I chased mcgregor Macleod multiple times to understand if it had been revoked, my emails again going unanswered. It wasn’t until my fiancé called them and asked them to put it in writing that the fine was no longer active that I got a response.

Every point of contact with this company has been disappointing and extremely stressful. I get that it seems they are short staffed and it’s difficult to take over cases when an employee leaves and Marie did get us into our property on time and on the date agreed which I was thankful for!

But I would never use this company again and I would tell anyone who asked me to completely avoid them.

We live in Australia, which meant that it was important to find a solicitor who specialised in working with people who were selling their house from abroad. Jaspreet's customer service was excellent, he constantly kept us up to date and promptly answered any questions we had. Our sale when through quickly and smoothly. I have no hesitation in recommended McGregor Macleod's Solicitor.

5/5 would use again, friendly staff who dealt with the sale of my house. Helped me with any queries and were prompt with any information.

First off all i have to say that when i purchased a house through McGregor Macleod, Marie was excellent and everything was done on time.
The reason i have only given 4 stars and not 5 is due to the following.
After moving in i applied for a new credit card. As i was not on electoral roll etc at my new address the lender wanted proof off id, Signed by a solicitor.
I called McGregor Macleod to ask if they could help.
The lady i got on the phone advised she would have to get Marie to deal with it as my account was now closed. (No account was needed.) She took my telephone number as said she would get Marie to call me in the morning as she was off that day. (Still waiting 3 weeks later) I then emailed Marie twice asking if they could help, also advising i was not expecting this to be done for free. Totaly ignored with no responce.
Even if it not something they wanted to do, A bit off decency to reply saying so would have been fine.
Fortunatly other solicitors in the area were able to help.

The whole process of purchasing a new home in Edinburgh was made so easy and stress free by Sharon, who has been on hand to answer all and any questions, guided me through the whole process. We completed today and I can say wholeheartedly that Sharon has been an absolute credit to McGregor MacLeod Solicitors.

Jaspreet was great. Everything was done with efficiency and speed.

I bought my first flat in Edinburgh and McGregor & MacLeod were handling the legal side. Everything went smoothly and missive was concluded two days before the agreed entry date. As I am a first time buyer I asked many questions which were all answered patiently and in timely manner. Legal costs were in close to what was quoted to me.

We chose McGregore MacLeod Solicitors because of the excellent Trust Pilot Reviews.
7 days before the agreed entry date in the sale of our property we were told "We at present have two members of staff missing and the remaining seven legal staff are booked for the foreseeable future on clients who have guaranteed contractual dates of entry. Given the nature of the observations coming from the potential buyer, we will not have the ability to allocate the necessary resources to this matter for some weeks. I think it best that you consider appointing a rural solicitor who will have the necessary staff capacity to deal with your transaction. " The problem was caused by McGregore MacLeod's company policy of not allowing solicitors to work their notice period (the solicitor who worked on our sales, had found another job).
I tried to speak to the Senior Partner of the firm, he refused to speak to me. Words can not express how let down we were, and how unprofessional McGregore MacLeod were.

Just completed the sale of a Dundee property through McGregor MacLeod Solicitors and cannot rate them too highly - very professional, efficient and readily accessible at all times and at a most reasonable cost. Marie Bryson has been a star in keeping things on track and keeping me continually updated with progress. Sold another Dundee property last year through a Dundee solicitor and wish I had discovered McGregor MacLeod then - I'd have save a substantial amount of money and time! Thank you!

Despite only being allowed to charge £50 + VAT for Help to Buy ISA bonus application work as per the schemes rules they will attempt to charge you £150 for using a HtB ISA. When asked why there fee is £90 (150%) higher than allowed they simply stated the fee limit is only for bonus application work and refused to provide any information as to what this extra £90 charge is actually for.

So unless paying nonsense tacked on fees that they can’t even explain what they’re for and evasive non answers are your idea of good service McGregor Macleod are definitely a firm to avoid.

This was our first time using McGregor MacLeod so we were not sure what to expect. Jaspreet was very friendly and great to work with. She managed to push our sale through within a couple of days and answered all of our questions quickly. I will definitely be using McGregor MacLeod again in future. Jaspreet is easily the best solicitor we have worked work.
