We have used McGregor MacLeod to sell 2 of our properties and Purchase a family home very recently.
Marie was exceptional in all aspects of our sales and purchase despite some issues with one of our sale Marie kept us informed and provided prompt advice whenever required.
Highly recommended for all aspect convincing.

I used McGregor MacLeod for purchasing a property in Aug/Sep 2021.

Throughout the process the communications from McGregor Macleod was not the best, with me having to ring the office to get updates throughout the property purchase. The purchase was completed in Sep 2021.

On 1st April 2022 I received a penalty notice from Revenue Scotland totalling £198 for late payment of the LBTT due on my property purchase.

I contacted McGregor MacLeod and when the legal assistant I dealt with wasn't available I requested a call back which I did not get.

I did receive a full refund of the £198 penalty that I had paid on 5th April after a frustrating period of trying to speak with someone at McGregor MacLeod and not being able to.

On the 5th April I also left a quite scathing review on Trust Pilot about my experiences.

This is now an edited review following an open and frank discussion with one of the senior partners at McGregor MacLeod.

I concede that in Sep 2021 I did not report my disappointment and frustration with the communications issues, therefore not giving the company the opportunity to address them.

So when I included them in my original review they had no record of them and reacted as if those accusations were untrue.

McGregor MacLeod have acknowledged that there was a mistake made at their end with the late payment of LBTT and have apologised for that. They were short staffed due to Covid at that time and the due payment date was missed.

The senior partner I spoke with was very fair and conceded that I had not had the service that I should have had and they have made a goodwill refund of part of my original legal fees. This is appreciated but has not changed my view of the situation.

I have been assured that going forward McGregor MacLeod will endeavour to improve their communications with customers to provide the 5 star service they always aim to achieve.

My review is only 3 stars because I did experience problems during my transaction, but I am confident that if I were to use McGregor MacLeod again that the service would be more in line with the many 4 and 5 star reviews that took me to them in the first instance.

There were shortcomings on both sides here and I accept my part in the situation by not reporting my concerns in the first place.

I feel that the response from McGregor MacLeod once all of the issues were clear has been more than fair and satisfactory.

This is the second time I use this firm and I'm very pleased with the service I received throughout my purchase. Sharon was on top of her things and she did a great job. I highly recommend them.

Our property sale was handled by Marie, who was efficient, pragmatic and friendly. Marie was patient, and kept us fully informed throughout; she is clearly experienced and is very much a safe pair of hands. The firm's fee basis was also very fair. We have experienced both the worst and the best of conveyancing solicitors over the years, and based on the excellent service received for this transaction we would definitely use McGregor MacLeod again.

We were selling a property up on the north coast of Sutherland, a long way from our home. Fortunately for us, through the internet I came across MacGregor MacLeod, who were clearly organised for remote working, so we asked them for a quote and then went ahead on that clear basis. Our sale was allocated to Margaret, who provided an outstanding professional service by any standard. She showed initiative and organisation, and was clearly used to remote working via email. Her response was always prompt and dealt with the issues fully as any queries arose. The handling of contacts with the buyers' solicitors were effective, and the missives and sale arrangements all went through with no problems. Altogether, the experience was unexpectedly positive, and I would fully endorse the positive evaluation of this firm as worth considering (particularly if you are looking for remote working by email or phone)

Poor communication, constantly chasing for updates. Dealt with them a couple of times and it was the same each time. In my most recent experience I didn’t get a reply for well over a month despite regular emails and phone calls asking for updates.

I used McGregor MacLeod to purchase my first property. Being a complete newby to the process I can only admire their patience and professionalism. They were always available when I had a question and kept me informed about the process. The sale went smoothly and any queries or issues were resolved immediately. Highly recommended.

They were efficient, and willing to go the extra mile to help answer any questions or queries that we had.
