Excellent service throughout. The process of buying a property as a first time buyer was made really easy thanks to Jaspreet. All done remotely and any questions answered quickly. Would highly recommend!

Unprofessional and unreliable - please be very wary of this firm. Used them for the sale of my home although they did not act in my interests. Couldn't reach them, they passed information to third parties without consulting me first, didn't follow up on requests I made of them and when I raised a complaint with them, it was ignored. The sale of the property fell through in January 2022 and have since raised a complaint with the SLCC which is ongoing.

I would urge anyone who has received an unprofessional level of service from this firm to take action - get in touch with local officials, the SLCC or professional negligence firms, ICO (if information has been mishandled) and even the press, if the situation warrants further investigate.

Update 27 Feb 2023 - In response to the Solicitors reply to this review, I would just like to note this is the first time their firm has engaged with me directly since I raised a complaint with them in January 2022. I have since raised their failure to respond with the SLCC, amongst other ways in which my interests were not actioned as a client.

Donna dealt with a holiday flat purchase for us recently. Very friendly and efficient service. Any queries were answered quickly. Highly recommend.

I used McGregor MacLeod for conveyancing for the purchase of a new property as a first time buyer. I worked with Jaspreet Lidder and the service was excellent. She was very responsive and made the whole process as easy as possible. She kept in contact with myself, my mortgage advisor as well as the sellers solicitor and ensured everything was in place for my move in date. I had issues with my boiler after my move in date and she was really helpful, she contacted the sellers solicitor and I was in contact with the seller to resolve the issue within 24 hours. Overall really happy with the service

Jaspreet Lidder dealt with our file. She presented us with all services available from firm and we had enough choices to make. Because it was a cash deal everything went through quick and exchange was without any problem.

I have recently bought a property in Aberdeen with the help of McGregor MacLeod Solicitors. They are based in Glasgow and the whole operation was processed remotely, over the phone and via emails. I had a short deadline to complete the transaction as I had travel arrangements in place. The process had been explained well to me and the transaction went smoothly and within the requested lead time. I could call my solicitor at any time and she was responsive to my emails. The person who dealt with my purchase was Jaspreet Lidder whom I felt was competent, professional and patient, answering all my questions and complying to most of my requests. I can recommend this company to anyone, especially if one needs to process a transaction remotely.

SUMMARY: McGregor MacLeod refused us as potential clients after we asked to know how our personal data were being stored & used, and asked that any non-necessary data be erased/not collected. This is everyone's right under the 2018 Data Protection Act. They did not answer any of my questions about what they do with personal data.

We've talked to other solicitors and this is not normal behaviour.

DETAILED EXPLANATION: My partner and I engaged with McGregor MacLeod regarding conveyancing for a property transaction in Scotland.

While discussing using their services they requested personal information that we did not believe to be pertinent to the purchase of a property (information such as preferences and interests) in their agreement. They also stipulate that they could use these data in market research.

Under the Data Protection Act 2018 (on gov.uk) we have a right to ask and be informed on how our personal data are being used and stored, and for what purposes.

We responded to them by asking how our data would be stored and used, and why it was pertinent to our transaction; we said if it was important to the transaction we would happily provide the data.

We asked if it was not pertinent, that we would prefer not to provide the information, or have it removed after we submitted it. We also requested that our data not be shared or sold with third parties.

They responded within the day and withdrew acting for us under the grounds that this would substantiate an amendment to their terms of business. They didn't answer the questions or clarify any points. We would have been more than happy to provide the data if required. They weren't able to tell us how our data were stored or why (as is our legal right) but instead ceased engagement- which is a fairly big red flag.

We have since engaged with another solicitor who is happy to answer our questions, is more responsive, and is providing a more comprehensive service. When discussing this with other solicitors, dropping clients because they want to know how their data is used is not a normal practice, and was concerning for us.

I strongly recommend avoiding them if you have any other option.

Overall, I am happy with the service provided by McGregor MacLeod, who managed to complete our purchase in around 6 weeks. Sharon was very helpful.

Experience from start to finish with Kirstie went very smoothly, she went over and above to help me through the whole process, even when it all got a little complicated. I absolutely 100% am super grateful and amazed that it was all completed so quickly! Super friendly and communicative, I was never left in the dark at any part of the process.
