I had a very positive experience with McGregor MacLeod. Jaspreet Lidder handled the conveyancing for my house purchase and was very helpful. As a first-time buyer, I appreciated her prompt response to questions; everything happened on schedule and the whole process was much more straightforward than I had expected!

Jaspreet dealt with the purchase of my first home and she was brilliant from start to finish. Being a first time buyer, I had a lot of questions and Jaspreet always replied to me promptly and explained everything clearly. Would definitely recommend Macgreor Macleod and would definitely use their services again in future.

Sharon was a great support throughout all stages of the process. Quick to reply to any queries I had and providing any information required. As a first time buyer I'd not been sure what to expect but I will definitely use McGregor Macleod again.

New to the house purchase game; mcgregor Macleod and Sharon in particular made it very simple and straightforward. Fees were very reasonable and did not alter from initial quotation. Everything is done online so the whole process was very easy,

I contacted McGregor MacLeod Solicitors to carry out conveyancing for me. In the process, I asked if I can supply the coal mining and legal reports as they have not included costs to acquire them in their quote. Lady on the phone who, I presume, was an administrator told me that I can't get or supply reports myself as the reports must be requested by a solicitor. A little argument about that brought our conversation to the question of whether conveyancing for the flat sale can be done by an unrepresented party. She told me, verbatim: "I know for a fact you cannot do conveyancing yourself in Scotland". She kept using "the law" as the reason and the Law Society of Scotland as a reference. In the end, when I tried to be constructive and just asked to send the solicitor's contact details and contract to my email, she refused to engage with me further.

I am not sure what was that, plain incompetence or a power trip, using her own words: "I know for a fact" that you can undertake conveyancing yourself. In fact, you'd probably be better off than using this firm.

In case if this employee will read this review and as a courtesy, I provide the quote from the Law Society of Scotland regarding this issue:
"I want to handle the sale/purchase of property myself - can I do this?
You can, but we would not recommend that you do so..."

Update: I was advised that I can't supply the reports to which I responded that this is not a problem. I was not insisting on supplying the reports. There is no rage or stress, but a mere willingness to leave a note for prospective customers. If they decide to challenge the validity of absurd incompetent statements by the firm's employees, communication changes from amicable to rude, and condescending in a fraction of a second.

Very good service by McGregor MacLeod Solicitors. Especially, Marie's Swift Response is much appreciable and I am very happy with the service.

I would like to thank Jim McIntosh for his knowledge and advice while dealing with my mum’s will. Throughout the whole process his support was fantastic. Every step of the way throughout all the different processes he was there explaining everything. Thank you Jim for all your support. I personally will be recommending McGregor Macleod to everyone.

I have engaged McGregor MacLeod to help on my house purchase. It was an excellent experience, most of the things and communications were done remotely, just with very limited documents need to be sent a hard copy with signature which is understandable. They are responsive and patience to answer my questions and guided me through the process as I am new to the Country.

I instructed McGregor MacLeod Solicitors to act on my behalf following the separation from my ex partner.
I was up against a very tight deadline or my original mortgage offer was going to expire and would have went up by an extra 1.5%........ so time was ticking.

The woman Jaspreet was assigned to me and she was absolutely fantastic...... she was up against it but managed to deliver her quickest turn around and get everything sorted out within the month...... Jaspreet you are a legend !

My original solicitor was saying it could take 10-12 weeks.....so well done for achieving this!

Unprofessional and unreliable - please be very wary of this firm. Used them for the sale of my home although they did not act in my interests. Couldn't reach them, they passed information to third parties without consulting me first, didn't follow up on requests I made of them and when I raised a complaint with them, it was ignored. The sale of the property fell through in January 2022 and have since raised a complaint with the SLCC which is ongoing.

I would urge anyone who has received an unprofessional level of service from this firm to take action - get in touch with local officials, the SLCC or professional negligence firms, ICO (if information has been mishandled) and even the press, if the situation warrants further investigate.

Update 27 Feb 2023 - In response to the Solicitors reply to this review, I would just like to note this is the first time their firm has engaged with me directly since I raised a complaint with them in January 2022. I have since raised their failure to respond with the SLCC, amongst other ways in which my interests were not actioned as a client.
