Scam

Had them come over a year ago to fix the fence, fixed it and it's broken again. Was waiting for someone to have a look at it again, the appointment was booked. The van was literally outside the house, nobody came out and knocked the door but send me a message that they were unable to gain access. Lol. Cant get worse.

Absolute cowboy outfit

Absolute cowboy outfit. They did our kitchen left us with it stripped out, a leaking sink and holes around the ceiling above cooker which kept putting dust and ceiling bits of the cooker, they got an electrician which drilled through the wall in the kitchen right through to the living room not once but twice then asked us If we wanted the holes filled in. They didn't cover our carpets and left mess everywhere, they never stuck to appointment days or times and left our front door wide open for anyone to come in. NEVER AGAIN! If you have any sense AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Mears have dropped from leaderboard to basic bottom

I very rarely leave negative feedback and always give the benefit of the doubt. However, when the same things keeps happening on many occasions then it’s clear it isn’t a one time problem but that’s it is a continual one that needs rectifying. They are the most incompetent repairs group when managing repairs and inefficient with resources. Unbelievably slow in relation to following the works they have actually done themselves. Always rescheduling without informing you, saying the job is much bigger than what it is, except the reality is, their operatives are only allowed to carry out basic repairs and not anything beyond putting a light up or a new socket on. Mears use to be good, however now, they’re absolutely awful and disregard one’s time. The amount of time I’ve wasted rescheduling my life to be left waiting all day for no one to show up and no apology or compensation.
At the minimum, rent should be deducted for the inconvenience every time a tenant is let down by them as many other housing groups do as an apology for the inconvenience caused.
A job that an operative took three ‘full’ days to work out which wasn’t complete took a subcontractor 3 hours, which he said was a doddle and the destroying of ceilings was not necessary at all. Which created more work than needed.
They really need better ship management and leadership, time management and efficiency management. A business and team leadership coach is certainly required. It appears that there isn’t an investment in the operatives, and that is has become very obvious in the recent year or so.
Rant over

Unbelievably poor service

Unbelievably poor service. Took time off of work twice only for them not to turn up for repair. Called office to complain and rude woman on the phone too busy laughing with colleagues to pay attention. She told me that an operative did attend and no answer. This was a lie. I asked why he didn’t leave a call card, she said he did. How she knew this I have no idea, but he never did and I was home all day! I asked her to look at vehicle tracking report to confirm that he attended and she said that the tracker showed he attended… another lie. The 3rd appointment.. my partner waited in all and sacrificed a days wage to stay home this time, visit scheduled between 8am and 5pm. 4:45 and no show. At this point I am returning home from work and catch the operative parked around the corner to satisfy tracker report and trying to cancel job. I confronted him and he tried to blag me. Came and did job eventually and even had the cheek to ask me for a cigarette. Then.. told me I’ll receive a text soon but not to reply straight away. Covering his own backside. Terrible service, how does this company survive

Useless beyond a joke

2 and a half years ago, I reported a crumbling concrete canopy above my front door, to the council in North Lanarkshire, chunks size of bricks had fallen dangerously, and a massive split along it. Ok, pandemic happened, finally in march 2022, scaffolding went up, 6 weeks later a "bricklayer" came took the chunk away. 2 weeks later, he repaired it. All done. The scaffold is still up 5 weeks after the repair ! The job took 3 hours top,!!
It's nearly June now and I hate to think of the cost , especially when it's our council tax paying this. I've emailed11 times, phoned 5, but just passed on to the team apparently. Utter crap. My disabled neighbour can't get by the scaffold easily. And they ignore his complaints too. Council should get rid of these yeeha,s asap. Avoid like the plague

Thank you for a great service from Verdit the plumber from Mears who attended to fix two leaking taps . He had to make a trip to a depot to find replacements for the old taps and the job was completed efficiently within an hour.

Terrible subcontractors for repairs

Contacting my HA about multiple issues present with my home. Still waiting for someone from Mears to come and follow up an assessment to structure damage to my exterior house wall. (Shelf of bricks have cracked causing structural concern). Company won't allow me to take photo's to send to them in evidence of my claims. On top of that, haven't had a gas boiler service in over 18 months. Had an appointment for 2 days ago. Removed everything from the airing cupboard so they could access it. No one turned up. Got another boiler service today for 8am to 1pm and still waiting for someone to show up. Doubt anyone will turn up. Why my HA still affiliates themselves with this cowboy company is a massive concern for me.

NEVER let Mears into your home!

Another shoddy and unacceptable job done by Mears. Paving left uneven and loose, broken old paving left behind and cement covering garden, footpath and road. I would NEVER have this outfit in my flat again after employees went through my personal belongings whilst in my flat!

Absolute joke of a company.

Absolute joke of a company. Recently moved into my first home and I need my boiler re-commissioned. I was told to call the company to sort it. First time I called, the lady told me I didn’t need it recommissioned and then put the phone down on me when it turns out I did need it done. Tried calling at work, 30 minutes later they picked up and put the phone back down. Decided to call again, i was waiting for WELL over an hour. Still no answer. I’m not even sure what to do, I’ve got no hot water and these useless jobsworths can’t do their job properly and answer the phone. If I had the time I’d go to head office about it.
