At first seem like helpfully guy. But know I start to notice all the rushed work and issue here and there. Dyno run was rushed so fast am lucky my car did not blow up. Every unhappy with the out come. Wires left hanging self made earth not even running on the loom to ecu.
Stay away money wasted and never see again

beware beware beware. megasquirt installation information is a tangled mess on their website and their customer service is too far away from the customers. meaning you get a box full of parts and installation instructions that are all over the place and confusing. BECAUSE. they have tried to integrate the instructions for all their different products to fit every vehicle application and it doesnt work. you go to their website to look up a problem you get 50 links that jump from end to end and leave you confused at the end. also there are too many things that can go wrong from the soldering of the board to the map download to a simple ground issue . and whose paying for all these mistakes??????? YOUR EXPENSIVE BUILT ENGINE !!!!!!
yes every mistake you make every little problem reflects back on your engine. you will have problems like flooding and hydrolocking. wrong ifnition setup and severe knocking issues also out of place ignition events that can wreak havoc on your engine.
and for most people a fully built turbo engine full of expensive parts isnt a testing ground for you to start making all kinds of mistakes until oneeeeee day far into the horizon you might get your tune right or all your bugs figured out.
mehasquirt simply is not safe in the hands of an amateur or a do it your selfer . granted you pay 500 dollars and think great this was cheap not knowing the damages and expenses this little black box can cause you. and when you turn to DIYAUTOTUNE for help they only communicate through email and they only link you back to that tangled mess of information online that even they cant even sort out.
let me add that their installation instructions website has not changed since forever. its still the same mess as it was 10 years ago.
bear in mind that to own and operate a megasquirt you have to first own a vehicle that requires a stand alone management. then you need to be either an automotive technician or be very savvy in the automotive field with weeks upon weeks of free time and money just to burn in fuel while youre testing and working out the bugs of this little black box. then you need to be good with soldering skills and electronics to build it . then you need to be good with wiring skills to be able to wire it into your vehicle. then you need to be very computer savvy and own a laptop because now you need to power it up then tell it where all its ports are then you have to tell the laptop which ports to find it on then you need to make up files and download maps and tunes from the internet and feed it into the megasquirt and then you need to download whats called a tuner studio so you can start blindly playing with an un ending ocean of variables where a mistake in one of them can cost you an engine. be it in over heating, pinging misfires and basically this is where your expensive engine becomes a test subject at the mercy of your inexperience.
now youre at the stage where you have your hood up every other minute with a car that looks like its been through a warzone with wires hanging out under the dash everywhere zooming up and down the block trying to get this thing to behave and act like you had originally dreamed of. but the game is just beginning. weeks and weeks go by and you finally get discouraged since youve been writing to the megasquirt guys and asking them for help and all they do is refer you back to their website of a thousand links to nowhere.
i have built and installed at least 4 megasquirt kits in my own vehicles and friends and customers vehicles and as a licensed and experienced automotive technician i could not advise you against it enough. unless you have enough money to repair and rebuild your engine a few times til you get it to work semi presentable i wouldnt go close to it.

Son purchased full mx5 turbo kit. Cheap Ali express injectors, intercooler piping didn’t fit. Cheap and nasty micro squirt controller. Not impressed. Will never recommend to anybody.

Total ripoff
Total ripoff. stay away at all cost. Parts and megasquirt ecu was secondhand. To make matters worse wiring looked like it was done by a 13year old.

When I asked to get a refund he charged me restocking fee.

Dodgy as all hell.

Sent me a supposedly brand new Megasquirt PNP ecu that had rust all over the case. Didn't even include an options port.

Asked for a refund and got charged a $100 restocking fee, despite the fact he sent me a rusty old ECU that was meant to be brand new.

Absolute scumbag, horrible business practices. Cheap parts (bought injectors off him for $370, only to find out later he buys them off Aliexpress for $50).

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.

This company is a total ripe off. Sold me parts claiming to be new which after doing my own investigating was not. Car when into their workshop fully painted and came out damaged. Mechanical work and installation was poorly done And had serval problems with the ECU (money-making scam) stay away and do research on this company before approaching
