Frustrating complaint process

I purchased a Mercedes-Benz GLA from Mercedes-Benz of Nottingham in 2019.

During the purchase, I was sold two additional products, GardX and Club Smart Guard, costing more than £1,300 in total. My main concern is that I was not clearly informed that these products were optional. They appeared on the invoice alongside charges such as the vehicle price, delivery and registration fees, and they were explained to me as important protections for the vehicle. Had I known they were optional, I would not have purchased them.

I later discovered that at least one aspect of the information I had been given was incorrect. I therefore raised a formal complaint with Mercedes-Benz Customer Services in March 2026. I was repeatedly assured that Mercedes-Benz of Nottingham had been informed of my concerns and that the dealership would contact me shortly. Despite these assurances, I was never contacted by the dealership, even after waiting for several weeks and following up multiple times myself.

I found the complaints process extremely frustrating, as I was passed between different departments multiple times before eventually receiving a final response rejecting my complaint.

I have been a loyal Mercedes-Benz customer for many years and still own a Mercedes-Benz today, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. My advice to prospective customers is simple: read every document carefully and ask explicitly whether any additional products are optional before signing.

Avoid this branch run terribly🤬🤬🤬

So ill start from the beginning i brought a second hand Mercedes a200 2017 privately with no service history so booked it in at Mercedes for a full major service. The car had done 81000 miles so any garage with no previous service history would of done a full service which the major service should include pollen filter oil filter and fuel filter. Car got done all fine never received an invoice, recently had my dsg gearbox service there and asked for the previous invoice which then showed me the feul filter hadn’t been replaced.
So now my £13500 car has potential been driving round with the same fuel filter for 91000 miles. Called them up to tell them met with excuses not once apologised just trying to wriggle out of it they new it had no history because they told me this them selfs crazy.

Also during my service in 2024 they left a tool under the bonnet that was there for months before noticing and then finally when i booked my car in for the dsg gear box service they ordered the wrong oil (apparently) and it took an extra whole day absolutely unacceptable from a huge company like Mercedes seems as though the Nottingham ranch is run by heavy breathing morons. Called up like i said asked to speak to a manager to voice my complaints and was kept on hold for 30 minutes will not be going back to Mercedes ever again full of morons back alley garage with a Mercedes badge on the front. £222 labour to drain oil and change a filter should be wearing a mask never again avoid people.

Purchased a used a approved AMG from…

Purchased a used a approved AMG from the Nottingham Group 1 via distance selling.

Everything went well until 5 minutes after delivery. Upon first glance, 3 of the 4 wheels that had apparently been 'fully refurbished' all had curb damage. Popped the bonnet to check the engine and to my surprise, the bonnet struts had failed resulting in the the bonnet crashing down on my head. Reported this to the sales advisor immediately who suggested they would send someone to collect the car, driving it back to Nottingham and then back to me, a 200 mile round trip on a car I had only just purchased.

The day after delivery, once the rain had stopped, I wiped the car down to check the paintwork to find laquer peel across the back bumper, this was also reported.

After refusing the car to be driven back to Nottingham, they reluctantly agreed to recover it. This left me without the car I had just purchased for nearly a week and without transport. On return, the bonnet struts had been replaced, however the wheels had been poorly repaired and the paintwork which I expected to be resprayed, had simply been wet sanded and polished, leaving the outline of the peeled laquer still visible. After losing faith and reporting this to the dealer, a good will gesture was offered and accepted.

A week later, upon reviewing the service history, I discovered the differential service had been missed prior to sale and was out by approximately 7300 miles. This was raised as a formal complaint and once they accepted responsibility they once again attempted to send someone to collect the car and drive it back to nottingham. I repeated my comment from the first time this was suggested, especially since a high risk item like a differential certainly shouldnt be driven all the way back. They offered to complete the service at my nearest branch, I opted to have it done at a specialist whilst also having the gearbox service done which was also needed. Group 1 then re-embursed the cost of the service.

Fast forward 2 months and the performance exhaust developed a rattle (a very common problem) bearing in mind I am still within the 6 months Consumer protection period, group 1 inspect the car and suggest that manufacturers guidance is to 'grease' the area. Anyone who knows about these cars knows this is a maintenance approach and not a permanent fix. I refused this point blank and then was ignored for long periods. Bearing in mind, the pre inspection report I received with the car stated the exhaust to be green (perfect working order).
Group 1 have now refused to replace the section of the exhaust which is the only guaranteed fix. To add insult to injury, they offered to buy back the car a at a usage per mile rate of £1.57, the Ombudsman industry standard is 25p to 45p!!!!! I have only covered 1200 miles in 5 months!!!! This is now in the hands of the Ombudsman. No doubt customer services will reply to this review with their copy and paste comment of 'sorry you have experienced this' which is pathetic. I'm half tempted to upload all the email correspondence admitting Liability for all the faults mentioned above. Easily the worst car buying experience of my life and I certainly won't be buying a car by distance selling ever again. Buyers beware!!!

If only there was an option for a minus 5*

If only there was an option for a -5*. Took my car to this joke of a dealership to get a misfire sorted. Had the car for 4hrs and required an additional 24hrs (at £120/hr) to diagnose the 'issue'. Refused to approve the additional time and took the car the amazing independent MB Nottingham in Lenton. Diagnosed the issue within a couple of hours and fixed the issue at less than half what the Mercedes dealership wanted for investigation only.

Now, the issue is my car was returned with no engine cover. I have called countless time and been sent from pillar to post. Was referred to After Sales Manager by the name of Matthew who promised to 'look into the matter' but never got back to me. If you are planning on using this dealership, better be prepared to be messed about should you have an problems with their service.

I have been using Mercedes nottingham…

I have been using Mercedes nottingham for a few years now & truly enjoy the professionalism & enthusiasm from booking in to updates through the day then the collection call all within 3 or 4 hours for a big service & a very nice curtesy car. I believe the main man was called Tom Rhodes who greeted me & put me at ease with a few concerns that he defused after some feedback and made me a lot more relaxed & obviously having a coffee or two with a biscuit.... Till next time we'll done!!!

Dishonest dealership and has poor after-sales service

I purchased an approved used car from Mercedes Benz of Nottingham a year ago, but I faced numerous issues with the vehicle. To make matters worse, the windscreen turned out to be non-genuine. I made a complaint and sent numerous emails to sales Ms Harriet.Smith; info mercedes-benzofnottingham.co.uk and tellusmore inchcape but they did not follow up. The car was sold to me without proper inspection. I needed to be responsible for the cost of repairs. I was very dissatisfied with the situation. As a result, I chose not to return to the dealership for servicing and instead went to another MB Centre (Nottingham) Ltd.
Recently, I had a service done at MB Centre, I was extremely impressed with their service, they offered excellent customer service and reasonable prices and conducted a thorough road test.
I highly recommend that others refrain from buying cars or getting services from the original dealer Mercedes Benz of Nottingham. Instead, consider the outstanding service at MB Centre (Nottingham) Ltd. They truly prioritize customer satisfaction.

I can't express and thank enough to mercedes

I can't express and thank my self enough for awesome support offered by Kourtney the mercedes benz of Nottingham in store assistant. Process of booking the car in for a recall was very straigh forward, easy to understand everything explained to me by the store assistant. I was offered a mercedes benz car as a loaner for the time the technicians repaired my car.
thanks once again.

What a joke of a Dealership

What a joke of a Dealership. Last year our vehicle was collected by one of its drivers for its annual service. The car was serviced, they sent a video health report confirming everything was ok and the driver returned the vehicle. Upon return ot was noted a 40 split in the osr tyre. Thos was reported straight away. The dealership collected the vehicle again, (we thought to replace the tyre) but later phoned (Emily from service) to say that they did not think it was a cause for concern and would not be replacing the tyre. They also stated that the tyre was safe to drive on. Given there was no mention of any damage on the video health report, and the technician even stated that ‘all tyres are good’ and there was not even an advisory about the split, the damage could then have only occurred whist the car was being returned by the Dealerships driver. Whilst the Dealership have said the tyre is still safe the fact that it was damaged in their procession you would think they should replace the tyre.
The car has recently been back in for another service and this time they have not sent a video health report nor have they provided the paper health report. When chased for this (again Emily in service) they have said they will forward it but to-date this has not been received!!!
Clearly they do not want to mention the tyre …...

Absolutely TERRIBLE service

Absolutely TERRIBLE service, unprofessional and frankly crooked!

This year we are taking my wifes MB to the Derbyshire franchise for its service as last year we were left dumbfounded!
My wife had her car serviced with the Nottingham branch, they arranged to pick the car from her work and drop it back afterwards. All seemed until a a week later a Bus Lane violation fine dropped on the doorstep. It had a photo of the car being driven up a bus lane while they were delivered it back to my wife.
We contacted them and they asked for proof which we sent, the Service Manager then told my wife it would be easier if she paid the fine and then they would reimburse her.
Guess what happened! My wife paid it, then sent the receipt in and she was ignored. She emailed, phoned and even sent a recorded delivery letter but had no response.
In the end she gave up as the sales manager was always unavailable and never called back!
Absolutely Disgraceful from a professional company such as MB. They have no excuse for this appalling behavior, they should have paid the fine themselves, but I guess the Service Manager was trying to protect himself at our expense!

!!!!!DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!

As a result of MB contacting me, they were able to see we did use them last year and went to Derby this year.
Sean Bates the Aftersales Director apologised for the treatment we received and offered to pay for a meal out for us.
A genuine gesture that was appreciated.
Sean has only been at BM Nottingham since last summer so was not responsible for the terrible aftersales service we received last year.
The way Sean dealt with the complaint was positive and professional , thank you!
