Messly! New locum platform
Messly is a good platform to find locum work in addition to regular NHS work, and most of the agencies I found on their platform are helpful. Messly is involved in the very start of the process of working with a locum agency but they do not usually follow through with their registration process with the agency. I felt stranded at times as my agency was demanding of a lot of documentation which I deemed unnecessary. It would be helpful if Messly laid down some guidelines for pathway of registration with an agency. Overall, totally recommended!

A great platform to find locum jobs
I was unsure how to approach my F3 locum year, but finding Messly has been a game-changer for me. I’m very grateful for all the information the website provided about F3.
Signing up on Messly was quick and easy, and uploading documents in one place has been incredibly helpful. I especially liked the OneRef feature, which allowed me to obtain references effortlessly. I was quickly contacted by multiple agencies and was able to secure locum roles in my specialty of choice.
Messly is a fantastic website, and I definitely recommend it!

As easy as it gets
The app is very user friendly. Initially it took me some time to understand how it works but once that is done, managing through it becomes easy. Instead of looking for recruiters individually, Messly allows an individual to be found by different recruiters and that makes life much easier.
Once references are shared on Messly, it can be accessed by different recruiters, with your permission of course, and hence no need for separate references for different recruiters.
Uploading of documents is so easy.
I managed to secure work within 2 weeks of downloading the app and uploading my paperwork

Good place to start preparing for locum year
Didn’t know how and where to start looking for starting my F3 locum year. Messly is a great place to get the process started.
Quick and easy process of signing up and being able to see the agencies available.
Contacted very quickly by multiple agencies and able to choose which one was most suitable for me through Messly.
Also has lots of helpful information regarding locuming.
Great website and would recommend people to use!

Good Service for Locums
Messly provides a lot of good information for doctors. They have a well built interface that allows you to upload important documents quickly. The OneRef feature for getting references is also very fast and smooth.

Messly is what you need
Really easy to use; there is loads of information as well as looking for locum work; one reference for all agencies is very helpful!
A lot of the locum work advertised are no longer available and some of the agencies are not the best at responding (but this is no fault of Messly).
Locum through agencies does not always have the same rate as the bank rates. I did a locum where the bank rate was actually much better than the agency rate so probably just be mindful of that when applying.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you faced with job listings on Messly. We’re continuously working to improve the job listings shown on the platform. We ask that agencies remove any jobs that are no longer available. However, we are aware this doesn’t always happen. Jobs posted on the platform can go quickly, so it can be challenging for us to know what is available and what’s not. However, we are introducing a number of additional features to ensure the jobs you’re seeing on the app are available.
I'm also sorry to hear about the lack of prompt responses from agencies on the platform. We'd love for you to reach out to us on support@messly.co.uk, so we can look into this further for you.
In regards to rates - the locum market is unfortunately hostile at this time, which means that rates have been generally lower than previous years. Agencies are only able to offer the rates given to them by the hospitals/trusts. However, we understand that this difference can be frustrating.

However, we're sorry to hear that you encountered roles on the platform that were no longer available. The locum market is experiencing severe slow down at the moment which means unfortunately, there aren't many roles available. Due to the competitiveness caused by this, jobs are being snatched up very quickly which means some of the roles on the platform are no longer available - even though they still appear on the site. We're aware of this issue and are encouraging the agencies on the platform to remove any jobs from the site as soon as they are filled.
We have added a feature to the platform which allows you to see when the job was originally posted - so you get a sense of how old the jobs are. We have also created an FAQ page on our website which answers more questions about the jobs posted on Messly. However, we apologise for any upset or confusion caused by the situation. We'll continue to monitor the roles posted on the platform and take action where needed.
