Finally insurance that’s reasonably…

Finally insurance that’s reasonably priced for pre-existing conditions.

I always have a nightmare declaring multiple medical conditions, some historic but that other insurers want to know about. I’ve used MIA twice to get decent cover that’s tolerably priced.

Service very friendly and I really can’t fault them. Would use again and again.

Extremely Disappointed with Lack of Communication and Urgency

I had a really disappointing experience with this company and feel compelled to share it.

I was due to travel on 16th May and contacted this insurer after being advised I might need special coverage due to a couple of upcoming medical appointments. The first person I spoke to was actually really helpful and advised me to call back after my appointment—but still in good time before I flew out.

I did exactly that and called on Monday. I then spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone sharing all my medical history with a complete stranger, which wasn’t easy. To be clear: nothing I disclosed was life-altering or terminal. I had a recent prescription for a mild condition and a follow-up appointment for a common issue with no ongoing symptoms. One was under investigation purely as a precaution.

After sharing all this, I heard nothing back—not on Tuesday, not on Wednesday. I chased it myself on Wednesday and still got no answers, no updates, no reassurance. By Thursday afternoon, still in the dark, I gave up and contacted a different insurer. To my surprise (and relief), they sorted everything in half an hour.

Just to put this into perspective: my mum was able to get travel insurance in a day—and she has terminal lung cancer. Yet here I was, left waiting days for a basic decision with no serious medical concerns.

The person handling my case was named Brad, and frankly, I never heard a single thing from him. No call, no update, nothing. I’ve technically still had no response to my application, and the holiday is already over.

I don’t think this is how customers should be treated—especially when they’ve disclosed sensitive personal information in good faith. A complete lack of communication, urgency, or accountability.

I wouldn’t recommend this company based on my experience. One star for the initial helpful call, but everything after that was a letdown.

Friendly And Cost Effective Insurance

After phoning around what seems like hundreds of companies I was relieved to find MIA Travel insurance. They have saved me a vast amount when compared to the next nearest quote.

I have a severe pre-existing medical condition that many insurance companies simply wanted to walk away from. By taking the time to ask the right questions MIA were able to properly assess my condition. I was pleased to finally get an affordable insurance quote!
