Just spoke to the service department at Miele asking what it would cost to replace a mother board on a dishwasher. They quoted me $179 for the service call plus $933 for the part. My issue is, to purchase the same part direct from their spare parts department it would cost me approx. the same price. They would not negotiate at all on the cost of the part if they installed it, you would of thought they could do something, obviously they don't need the business.
Last time I purchase a Miele! Staff also not very accommodating or inviting.

Our second dishwasher.

Our first Miele washing machine and dishwasher lasted the prophesied 20 years without needing service. We therefore bought replacements from Miele. They are one of the companies that use pictogrammes instead of written instruction books. The problems came trying to hang the wooden door panel. This needed an email with questions that did elicit a phone call, but meant I needed to buy a small socket set to remove some unwanted plastic strips to be able to fit the door and "T" star drill bits to screw the side door fittings. The prescribed 8mm socket did not release the 4th fixing on the strip and my email want unanswered, hanging on the phone waiting for 10 minutes and I was put onto voicemail. The pictogramme left many details unanswered and I was left to work it out myself.

Product very durable, but service and assistance negatively variable.

Cat and Dog Vacuum

My cat & Dog vacuum broke after about 5 years and the model I wanted was discontinued so I called the customer service desk and she recommended I buy the bag less version of the cat & dog (red vacuum in their range) which I did costing me $600 and the brush attachment to the new one is TERRIBLE! It’s got short bristles and is connected to the shorter section of the vacuum hose so it’s near impossible to reach high places and tricky areas without having the whole machine at close range. Tried to find the brush attachment that my old vacuum had and to buy it’s so expensive, for the amount I’ve already paid for the vacuum I don’t wish to fork out more. The suction works amazingly and I’m hoping this model last longer than the other one but definitely disappointed in the brush attachment.

German arrogance

If you want to enter the world of German pomposity, arrogance, self-importance, smugness, inflexible rule-following, and officiousness, then buy a Miele.

First, remember that very few plumbers — even the very best ones — are willing to install Miele dishwashers. They know what Miele is like as a company, and they don’t want to deal with German pomposity. Furthermore, if a non-Miele plumber installs the dishwasher, a number of Miele warranties get voided.

Miele itself installs almost all of the dishwasher it sells, which it claims that it is happy to do, and strongly prefers to do. This will probably be fine if you have a completely new house, and all the plumbing is working perfectly, and the installation is simple and complexity-free. But if you are replacing an old dishwasher in an old house, and if you have any pre-existing plumbing issues that need to be simultaneously addressed, Miele won’t go near your house. Furthermore, they will also be completely unwilling to co-ordinate with a separate plumber to try to resolve any issues.

This is official Miele policy, it goes right to the top of the corporation, and it is not merely the “attitude” of one or two installers. So you will find yourself stuck between local plumbers who don’t want to touch anything made by Miele, and Miele who does not want to go near your old house.

“Value-added” German products that are over-engineered and that function beautifully for a very long time are great, just as long as the only thing you are buying is the product. But what Germans do not do well, is service.

Have you ever tried catching the attention of a waiter at a restaurant in Germany? Or floor staff in a clothing store in Germany? Germany has one of the very worst “service cultures” in the world. And Germany’s general cultural deficiency on this front only gets amplified when a German company sells a product that it is arrogant about, because the product is undeniably well-made and over-engineered.

All German premium product manufacturers are like this. If you have a Mercedes and you need service, for instance, you are no doubt already familiar with Mercedes arrogance and pomposity.

Who am I? I was born in Germany and raised in both Germany and Canada. I have two passports — German and Canadian — and spend about half my time in Europe, mostly in Switzerland, and the other half in Canada.

So this is an assessment by a German, of a German product and its associated service, or lack thereof. I am a German who knows Germany and Germans only too well. I am someone who also has an “outsider’s” perspective on Germany, and who knows that “service cultures” vary enormously from one country to the next.

It’s because Germans are the way that they are, that they make great products, and they have a manufacturing-led export economy. But it’s also because Germans are the way that they are, that you never want to deal with Germans as people, as service providers.

So just buy objects from Germans, and when they break after having lasted years, simply replace them. Never buy service from Germans, unless you enjoy being lectured, talked down to, interrupted, second-guessed, and belittled. Buy the hard objects that Germans make that require very little service, maintenance, or “customer” interaction; the objects that won’t require you to actually interact with Germans as people, and their abysmal service culture.

Unfortunately, many home appliances are not completely “service free” objects. So in my own case, even before my Miele dishwasher was delivered, I found myself reminded only too well of what it’s like to deal with a German company such as Miele. It’s a nightmare.

I then cancelled the order, and got my money back from the “agent” (Tasco), which thankfully is where I bought the product. Miele itself has a 10% cancellation policy, but Tasco was willing to refund the full amount.

I bought a Samsung instead.

Miele washing machine

Our 9yr old Miele washing machine developed a fault, would not power on, totally dead.
I called Miele customer service and within 3 days their service engineer arrived and has replaced an electronic pcb board under the original 10yr warranty.
Most machines would not even last this long, let alone have a service engineer repair it at no cost under warranty.
I have to say how impressed I am with the impeccable quick Miele service received
I would absolutely recommend Miele

Horrendous customer service

Agree the other poster, if I could give a negative number I would. We purchased an entire appliance package. Of course our issues are with the most expensive piece, the $16,000 range/oven.

It arrive broken (shattered oven door). After replace, the door quit shutting in a couple of months. They came and took entire oven apart to fix. Now oven works, but range burners wont turn on. 5 separate trips to fix, each time the range works for less than a day then quits working. The most recent repairman started speaking more candidly at this point. He said that the range is not safe and it has to be replaced. Said "I feel so bad for your family. They should have replaced this from the beginning. I'm sorry, but this is beyond repair and it is not safe to leave the gas connected to it." He disconnected gas and now nothing works.

So, we purchased this brand new 13 months ago. It was worked properly for about 2 months of that time (after replacing the oven door until it quit closing properly). So, we are $16,000 into a brand new, non-functioning range for about 90% of the time that we've owned it and are currently a month into this COVID Pandemic without a proper way to prepare meals for our family.

My wife and I are both physicians. I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS!!!!! They won't return our calls. WE have a lawyer involved (first time in my life I've ever done that) and we still get no where.

WE now all everyday just so we can document even though they give us no help. Each time they say "someone will call you back". How many calls have we received? NONE!

I wish I had never purchased this. I just want this 2 ton paper weight out of my kitchen.

It is disgraceful!

Buyer beware. Don't waste your money. This darn thing is going to give me a stroke or heart attack.

This is not the stress my family needs right now especially.

If I could put minus one I would!!

If I could put minus one I would!!
I’ve never been more disappointed
Or angry with a company. We bought two ovens models H5140 and an induction
Hob model KM6367 and I can honestly
say they have been a nightmare!!
I’ve had Miele engineers out ovens never
Reach their temperature only to be told
That to be 20/30 degrees under is
Acceptable I’m sorry but it’s not!!!
I wish a director (preferably German!!)
Could read this because they UK
Head office should be ashamed at
The shoddy treatment I’ve received.
I would never buy or recommend this
Company to anyone.

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE! Purchasing a Miele was awesome but customer service when you need service is non existent. I owned a washing machine for 6 weeks now on week 3 of not being able to use it. I WISH I had googled Miele service issues-as clearly this is the norm: getting run around no help from supervisors. They recommend I attend a laundromat (not ideal for a $2000 purchase) but it is in the middle of a pandemic and we are supposed to shelter in place. So due to Miele lack of customer service and not having parts I will be attending a laundromat at the peak of COVID 19. If you are considering purchasing anything Miele do yourself a favour and google service issues....and then buy something else.

Do Not Waste your money

The product is good but they do not stand behind their warranty on obvious issues such a MANUFACTURER DEFECTS
The customer service is very polite and courteous as they string you along and drag the issues out and eventually tell you no the warranty doesn’t cover defects

Too many repairs!

Too many repairs!
We've only owned our Miele appliances for 2 years, and we've already had to repair our dishwasher, our Speed oven/microwave combo and now it looks like our built in coffee machine is faulting as well. We've had 3 different Miele repairmen in and they each stand behind the products and say Miele is the best on the market, so don't understand why we are having so many issues. I would not recommend anyone to purchase this brand as if you are out of warranty, the repairs are VERY costly.

Do not buy miele induction cooktop

Do not buy miele induction cooktop. They are too expensive and work several years less than 8 years. I got one it was broken and changed me 270$ just after 5 times calls by waiting time 30 minutes each time and repairman said it doesn’t worth to repair buy new one. Seriously because of traveling to my home should I pay this.
It is ridiculous

Don't Buy Miele

They're great when you're buying but when there's defect in the product, you can't get them to come to fix it. There's no one to talk to. There's one 1-800 number that no one picks up. Our appliance stopped working. I called the number and was on hold for one hour. There's no one there!
They don't care about their customers.

Been using the Combi Steam oven and the…

Been using the Combi Steam oven and the 30 inch convection oven with steam, both with M Touch for 4 months now. Yes they work perfect as expected but the ovens make most of our foods taste better. Really is an amazing thing. I almost always use M Touch which helps me make my cooking adventures successful. The Combi Steam replaces our microwave which is not permitted in her new completely redone home. It does take about three minutes Longer to heat up food instead of seconds in a micro. But.....the texture of the food is unchanged. That alone makes the steamer worth the cash. When I am heating up pot pie, pasta or pizza, because you control the percent steam in the oven, the food never ever dries out, usually tastes like it first came out of the oven the day before. Cooks lobsters as good as you will find anywhere. Now as far as reliability goes, way too early but I am protected for five years on these two (6780 and 6700) and the Miele dishwasher and six burner cook top. They all work better than any appliance I ever owned. And the dishwasher solves all my issues with dish washing.......very Pleased

We have the Miele Laundry set - will not buy their products again.

We have the Miele Laundry set, but the washer continues to have errors with the TwinDos system. When I called, they said it was due to low usage (2 months or more unused). Not true.

Their customer service said I needed to buy the TwinDos Care Cartridge to fix the problem. Errors on that working as well. Continues to say "insufficient agent". It is brand new!

I called for service, but it is just past the 1 year warranty. Something this EXPENSIVE should have more than one year.

They quoted $155 to come out plus $90 per hour to fix their problem on a new washer.

DO NOT buy their products!!

I will NEVER buy a Miele appliance…

I will NEVER buy a Miele appliance again, and would highly discourage anyone from buying one. We own multiple Miele appliances in three countries (as they came pre-installed) and the problems with the product quality and after sales service are common across the world, so the problems seem to be systemic. Their products are positioned as premium and are expensive, (and their after sales service and parts are also very expensive) but their product quality is literally the WORST of any consumer appliance I have owned across the price spectrum. Fridges—we have had a Miele refrigerator and freezer for less than 3 years, and have had to replace two glass shelves (which cracked under pressure from an ordinary weight load), one plastic frontspiece from a freezer shelf (which fell out as it has only support from one guide rim on one side, lousy design), the ice cube tray for the ice cube maker which separated from its housing (their own repairman told me to just buy ice from 7-11 as he said the piece repeatedly breaks and is costly to fix), and now the “solid” metal door handle has cracked and broken at the joint, which looks to be poor material quality. My Miele vacuum cleaner’s motor broke after two years of light use, and it was cheaper to buy a new big Samsung one than to fix it. A metal piece between the two glass panels of my Miele microwave came loose and is rattling around because the microwave door hard shuts if you release it (poor design). The glass panel from our 1 year old Miele oven door came loose and luckily we spotted it before it actually fell off the frame and broke. We gave up on the Miele coffee machine which we had repaired at great cost twice, only to have it work intermittently. Ditto for another Miele microwave oven. I’ve owned appliances from Fisher & Paykel, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Subzero and Dyson for years, totally trouble free, and with the exception of the two premium brands I named above, at a fraction of the cost. Spare yourself the trauma to your sanity and wallet and don’t buy their appliances. Frankly they should be ashamed of their lousy product quality, poor customer service, extortionate pricing of spares and for a complete lack of accountability for product quality to their customers, while at the same time marketing their products as being premium and luxury, and as setting the standard for durability and performance.
