Higgledy Piggledy

On engagement under a LPA, Mogers Drewett seemed knowledgeable. Then the complex probate claim got underway and was dealt with in such a convoluted and awkward way. My original opinion of Mogers Drewett was challenged on many occasions, as the case slowly progressed. We then appeared in court without the correct documentation leading me to question their knowledge, ability and experience as a leading solicitor firm.

At the end of the claim I had to seek legal advice and instructions elsewhere, to bring the claim to a close, across 2 of the 3 Mogers Drewett's departments that were associated with the claim. All Mogers Drewett had done was to kick the can further down the road.

Mogers Drewett's conveyancing contract was terminated by a third party because they were totally uncontactable by all third parties involved in the claim for approx 4 months.

So over a period of 2.5 years I experienced an unfinished and extremely expensive claim procedure. For example, over the course of one day I received approx 6 maybe more emails from Mogers Drewett containing one or more urgent questions concerning the claim. I was outrageously charged per email including my replies.

I wrote to the complaints/ resolution department for an explanation for the reasons why the probate legal dispute was handled in this unacceptable way. Never received a reply, completely ghosted.

At the end of the claim I unexpectedly and bizarrely received lots of emailed Mogers Drewett's client's invites to an elegant fundraising event! That's right, no response to a complaint but I had paid Mogers Drewett enough to qualify for monetary or perhaps the unlikely possibility of free tickets to a fundraising event.

If savings had not been depleted on a drawn out dispute, poor service and unfinished case. I might have found the invite fun/worthy of my time and my depleted funds, having something to celebrate after a FINISHED claim. I would have made an effort and gotten my best late afternoon frock out of acid free storage with glass shoes to attend the early evening soirée!

I was then directly contacted again by Mogers Drewett, after the fundraising event to see if I would like to see a VIDEO of the fundraising event that I DIDN'T attend and also to claim my privileged access to fundraising events they will be involved in the future.

So a client with an unfinished probate case after a court hearing because of an unknowingly “hole-filled” document, limited funds, unanswered complaint, a lost house sale, trust problems, additional separate legal costs and their ex-client alarmingly facing a new enforcement notice, has little time or interest in attending a fundraising event hosted in partnership with Moger Drewett. The client's free time is better spent sorting out the unfinished hot mess!

An unhappy, dissatisfied and disappointed customer. If you need to use solicitors for complex probate cases make sure they have proven specialist knowledge. Being probate solicitors with many years of experience identifying themselves as from the good solicitor's guide doesn't necessarily qualify them (even if they think so), to be able to handle your case.

A valuable lesson was learnt by me instructing Mogers Drewett, it is best to do DIY if you can, you have been warned. The only good thing about Mogers Drewett in my opinion is that they reside in very nice office buildings in the south west of England.

Trustpilot I do expect Mogers Drewett to reply with their generic response that we have no record of you as our client. Rest assured I have their expensive invoices to prove otherwise.

We used Mogers Drewett for our house

We used Mogers Drewett for our house purchase and were really pleased with the service. Communication was clear throughout and everything was handled efficiently and professionally, which made the whole process far less stressful. We felt well supported at every stage and would happily recommend Mogers Drewett to anyone buying a property.

My experience with Drewett Solicitors…

My experience with Drewett Solicitors was nothing short of appalling. They repeatedly mishandled the case, submitting incorrect and ineligible forms and most shockingly, breached confidentiality on sensitive matters. Their lack of professionalism and care directly contributed to unnecessary stress and delays.

Due to the severity of their conduct, the matter has now been escalated to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for formal investigation.

This is not just a case of poor service it was a complete failure in their legal and ethical responsibilities. I strongly advise anyone to avoid this firm. If your case matters to you, take it elsewhere.

Management of Trust Fund? Do not trust

The overall handling of a Trust Fund managed by Mogers Drewett was poor, beset by irregular and unreliable communication from the outset.

Processing the subsequent closure of the Fund was almost farcical: seemingly simple instructions misinterpreted or simply not followed with an alarming tendency to producing erroneous documentation (when actually provided, which was also notable by its absence), not to mention an inability to provide us with timescales on what should have been a relatively straightforward case.

In spite of explicit requests for documentation to be reviewed and double-checked for accuracy (in this day and age how is it possible for a company to get the name, address and date of birth for one of the trustees wrong on the same form...?) we were constantly having to chase up and mop up on the incorrect processing of data, to the extent that at final drawdown the advice given was for the named beneficiaries to resolve the issue of amounts incorrectly processed by transferring the differences between each other.

Do they even understand English?

My experience with Mogers Drewett, who acted on behalf of the sellers during my property purchase, was nothing short of a disaster. Their sheer unprofessionalism has cost me thousands of pounds and left me living out of suitcases in an Airbnb for an extended period. They failed to meet crucial deadlines, including an important stamp duty deadline, costing me dearly.

The interns assigned to my case were alarmingly inexperienced and had no grasp of the details involved. Instead of facilitating a smooth process, they added to the chaos. Rebecca Robinson, the solicitor overseeing my transactions, was shockingly ineffective. She struggled with basic enquiry numberings and could not manage to provide coherent responses. It took them an exasperating four months to respond to simple enquiries, showcasing a disturbing lack of initiative and urgency. I ended up having to gather critical information myself from the Oxford council and various estate management companies just to move things along—it should never have come to that.

Furthermore, their communications were riddled with spelling mistakes and inaccuracies, raising serious doubts about their competence. It felt like I was working with amateurs rather than a respected legal firm.

I cannot emphasise enough how strongly I advise against using Mogers Drewett. If you are in the position of a purchasing party, do yourself a favor and seek out a firm that actually understands the legal process and values its clients. My experience has been a frustrating ordeal, and I hope others can avoid the same costly mistakes.

Purchasing property from US

We got tremendous help from Mogers Drewett's team to buy a property in Corsham while we were in the US. The process of purchasing a house in the UK can be daunting, but Alison and the team assured us that it could be done safely and promptly. We managed to exchange in six weeks and complete the transaction before the deadline for the new stamp duty.

I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT USE THIS FIRM AGAIN

Mogers Drewett have been handling the closure of a trust fund. My experience is that they have been incredibly slow, often repeating information they required several times over. They appear to
spend more time away from their desks than they do at their desks which unfortunately slows every process down unnecessarily. They gave me the wrong impression of the costs despite me asking for clarification. In my case they have been rude and unprofessional, now refusing to hand over relevant emails. Having raised a multiple of complaints , they have simply just shut the matter down and refused to investigate further, despite being provided with further evidence of repetition of documents. They have cost me a huge amount of money in interest by dragging a process out far longer that it needed to be, holding onto a large sum of money without giving proper advice from the onset.
Comments on trust pilot count. I would certainly not recommend them for working on trusts. Sadly, the responses from the Company seem to be that of the old boy's network closing ranks.
I am personally appalled at my experience and am likely to be reporting them to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority or ombudsman. Despite raising my concerns of their complaint's investigation with all 11 partners, to date, not one has even bothered to acknowledge my email or write back to me directly.
Mogers Drewett response to this review states that they have investigated thoroughly, this is clearly not the case as they shut down my detailed complaint in just over 30 minutes barely allowing them time to read it let aloine investigate.

Sorry your view of your personal experience is not up to our usual excellent standards. We work very conscientiously to support all our clients through often extremely stressful and difficult times for them.

Your complaint was thoroughly investigated and there has been detailed correspondence with you concerning it. We receive a tiny amount of complaints and all are taken very seriously, considered and exhaustively investigated.

Ghosting - who does this still?!

I'm really frustrated with the service we received from MD. We were in the process of buying our first house, and we chose MD because we heard they were good, despite being more expensive. However, our MD contact stopped responding to our emails for over 5 weeks, despite promises that she would get back to us. After much frustration, I finally reached out to the Partner for help. The whole experience caused us a lot of unnecessary stress.

I've been meaning to write this for a while, but MD really needs to improve their level of service. When they want to respond, everything is fine, but when we need to get hold of them, it's nearly impossible. This is not acceptable, especially considering the amount of money we are paying for their services.

Poor response

Thank you (Trust Pilot reviewers) for leaving these reviews just in time to prevent me from possibly hiring them on a complicated £1m+ probate case.
Had a very poor response to my initial telephone call: I explained the reason for my call to a receptionist, who put me through to an administrator. This admin person just said a blank 'Hello' without introducing herself - so I had to repeat myself from scratch. While I spoke, this person typed my words as I was speaking (which is off-putting), and interjected with irrelevant and weird questions. I did not get answers to my own questions (having made the call for this purpose!), and had to end this futile conversation.
Thankfully I've had more intelligent responses from other firms.
I think my experience explains the reports of lack of attention to detail and wasteful overhead charges from this company.
I have a law qualification myself (but not in the area where I'm looking for help). Speaking to 'layers' of administrators (who have no legal training, or at least some understanding of the client's need) is not a good way to get things done - or to keep to a budget.
I've heard good things in the past, but the legal teams of MD should know that sloppy mishandling of enquiries is a sure way to lose business!

In response to you today: of course I didn't use your services! I was put off by the awful initial response to my call, not to mention the many, many dire TP reviews you get.
