Some of the older reviews are clearly bitter about the migration from older to newer version but don't be put off. It seems the app has evolved pretty quickly. As a new user I have found it works well - except Amex only connects using web app not mobile - and now have a much better understanding of where the money goes each month. For a free app this is tremendous value for money! Many thanks

The UK open banking standard in general is limited to apps, not websites.

Money dashboard is an exception to this. Good interface, ability to export, all I need. Yes it is limited to certain accounts but that is in general a limitation of the open banking standard, not Money Dashboard.

Very few apps genuinely make a difference to our financial lives, this is definitely one of them.

It would be great to see more effective use of AI|ML on our financial data

To maintain the privilege of seeing my data, these guys should understand something basic: the app needs to do something useful for me on an ongiong basis.

Like, perhaps, manage a budget and analyse my spending from month to month? That seems to be too much to ask - good luck if that's your objective.

There is no envelope budgeting so you can't allocate accrued cash balances towards future anticipated spending. Custom categories are a massive pain to set up properly. It's really hard to (accurately) get a view of what you spent last year and where you might be able to make savings.

The app looks nice and looks very promising but the reality is that it's unintuitive in the extreme - in particular it's very frustrating to try and navigate. I wonder if they've ever sat any real people down to test it??

It doesn't do half the things I would want to in terms of insight, graphing and reporting.

Granted, you can probably achieve the things you want with the right knowledge but they seem to work hard at making things difficult for you.

Furthermore, there is inevitably a bit of ground work you need to put in at the start to get the most out of the tool but the platform - garbage in, garbage out, as they say. But the platform doesn't prompt or guide you through any of this!

So, you can naively go and view your (garbage) "insights" based on default categorisations or you can clean it up first. But what should you clean up and where do you find it? I had something like 1000 transactions in "other" for goodness sake, so how can they meaningfully claim to inform me of my spending on food & drink for example?

The app should be presenting me with a list of low-confidence transactions that it has struggled to categorise but there is no "wizard" or suggestion-driven onboarding procedure. I felt like a 6 year old trying to work out Excel for the first time.

I went through the registration then when i tried to add accounts the RBS option didn't work, the Hargreaves Lansdown doesn't work for ISA or investor accounts and therer are no options for 212 or coinbase (large investment platforms) pretty useless unless you have the handful of specific providers and certain bank accounts.Maybe its great if you have those though!

This review is for the new Neon version.

Does not support the following bank accounts:
- Marcus by Goldman Sachs
- Wise (former TransferWise)

Selection of investment accounts is very, very, very poor. None of my investment accounts is supported, namely:
- eToro
- AJ Bell
- Freedom Finance

For offline investment accounts (entered manually) does not support any currency other than GBP for investment accounts. I find it annoying. One of my investments is solely in USD. I'd expect automatic currency conversion into GBP (if GBP is a default currency). Not possible, have to convert myself manually.

Does not support SIPP accounts, e.g. Vanguarg.

I experienced problems with linking two of my American Express credit cards -- entered all details, logged in, received a pop-up that accounts had been linked successfully. Then nothing happened. Amex accounts just didn't appear in my MoneyDashboard.

From Wikipedia: "Money Dashboard is a free online personal financial management service in the United Kingdom. It provides users with the ability to view **all** of their online financial accounts in one place and categorises and analyses all of their transactions so they can understand how they use money." In practice this clearly is not true -- MoneyDashboard supports only a handful of accounts.

Great app really love it. The only downside is the monthly budget I have set up gets a few days into the month then goes back to zero?

Had been good but stopped syncing with BoS business accounts. Just won't do it. I've had a few messages with their support guy, Ian Turnbull, but he's gone quiet now as must know there is no solution. Using this to see an overview of all accounts when one of them is missing renders it useless.

I noticed that the balance totals shown by this app did not match the totals on my bank statements by a considerable margin. Looking into the figures I found a couple of duplicate transactions in the MM data. I contacted MM support and - after five days waiting - they advised me to delete the duplicates, which I did. However the balance totals still did not match, so I looked further and found at least 3 more duplicates in 2020 alone. Further, by comparing a spreadsheet dump of the MM data with MM's figures I found that categories also are not correct. I contacted MM support again but, after another 7 days waiting I've still not heard from them.

It is clear that the figures that MM produces cannot be trusted, which completely invalidates the value of this app. Their support team is clearly not up to the task of providing users with help. Shame - it would have been good if it could have been trusted.

Money Dashboard Neon is a new app being built from the ground up, and is improving all the time; almost each time I login I see app or website updates, improvements and fixes. The team are working hard to make the app functional, relevant to peoples' needs and generally just better.

I like the 'balance after bills' function which allows me to see what is left after I have fulfilled my obligations and helps me to precisely budget both now and in the future.

From my experience the team are responsive to customer service requests and follow up with honest feedback where necessary.

Hoping to see more cooperation from the financial institutions in the future which will lead to the availability of more Open Banking connections and therefore more usability. Also financial advice and product offerings on how to hit goals, e.g. get out of debt, build up savings, save for holiday/wedding/kid going to uni etc. etc.

Very useful app. The odd time I've contacted support, they've been very responsive and helpful.

Been using Money Dashboard for a few years, on the old app and website. Recently switched over to Neon and impressed with the features and updates on the new app.

It's safe to connect your bank or card using the new Open Banking system so useful to see all your accounts in one place.

I would recommend the Neon app as this is the most up to date and will be much better in the future with improvements.

Excellent tool to manage your finances effectively and make decisions that will ultimately help you save more.

The website gives me a complete, up to date picture of where my finances are and it is super easy to review ALL my in and out goings no matter what payment method.

I have used Money Dashboard for the last couple of years and find the collection of all my finance (cards and bank) under one roof makes it very easy to understand where my money goes. It is really easy to use, automatically extracting all transactions from all accounts putting them in one place.

I signed up for Money Dashboard Neon, after being very impressed by what I had found online.

I was in the process of doing one of the main features of the app - setting up all my recurring payments. However, there was an issue; whilst the system attempted to add any recurring payments, it did not find all of them. This isn't a huge problem until you realise that the function to add recurring payments isn't working...

After many attempts to try and do it different ways, as well as trying to do it in both the app and web version. I decided that deleting my account and reopening a new account might fix the bug.

When deleting the account, it stated that you're welcome to come back at any time. Well, this isn't entirely speaking true. I cannot make a new account because apparently my phone number is still registered to an account.

There is no quick and easy way to contact support, so I guess I will just have to wait and see how long it takes for my phone number to be removed.

This is why I believe the app has great potential because it is everything I have been looking for. However, it just seems rushed. An app with this much potential surely shouldn't be as buggy as it is.

A great and transparent way of finding out where you spend your money and on what in a clear representation.

Money dashboard is one of the best money apps out there. HOWEVER, the classic is tonnes better than the neon. why they created two versions is beyond me. No one can sign up to the classic anymore. Just the neon. The neon version is so glitchy and has ten times less powerful functions than classic. But from what interaction I have had with Money Dashboard - they do want to learn and improve. So, I like their philosophy.

However, if you want something that has amazing features - every twenty times better than classic Money Dashboard, check out Buxfer. They are reliable. Been around for 10+ years and constantly growing. They don't sell your data or give you skewed advice. And because they don't sell you ANYTHING, you do have to pay for them. Basic version is free and limited. Go for plus or pro versions - both very good and around £30-40 per year which I think is reasonable. Their support is ace too. And they are strongly building their UK market.
