Cheap for peace of mind.
They were recommended by Money Saving Expert (there is a link on that site). I got excess insurance for just over £12 compared to what the car hire company would have charged (and made me feel nervous about rejecting), this is good value for peace of mind.
I just hope I don't have to use it!

The search was straightforward and clear to perform. I thought the range of results was hugely comprehensive. The missing star concerns the rather basic presentation of the information, which has a rather dated feel. Other comparator sites have cleaner lines and feel more recently refreshed. All in all a good service and would use it again.

All in all rather disappointing…
All in all rather disappointing experience and required a considerable amount of additional research. Car hire excess insurance is a complicated area and some of the data on the money maxim site didn;t even seem to reflect the current policy terms when you drilled down. One feels that these comparison sites should actually set certain standards of cover as "defacto" does and then not even show substandard levels.
As a list of providers to go to - fine - not much more than that.
