Sunscriptionware by Stealth

The program itself works well enough, but its subscriptionware by stealth. You buy a lifetime license for the current version, with support for a year. When the year runs out, your version is still (more or less) fully functional but there's a big red banner telling you to upgrade which can't be removed, and endless emails reminding you, despite my unsubscribing multiple times.

Great Replacement for Outdated Microsoft Money

I had to purchase a new laptop and unfortunately lost my "Microsoft 2004" program and data :-( I had lived by that for budgeting and tax reports since around 2004 if not sooner and was just devastated. I have the program Disk, however no operating system works with it and no laptops come standard with a CD drive these days. I was so excited to find MoneySpire which seems to be close enough to Microsoft Money for my current needs. WHEW!!!

The app is coming along nicely

The app is coming along nicely. I do notice that there are memory issues in doing batch changes where it takes ages to finish making changes. It might be inherent in the older interface that Moneyspire uses. Also, when one creates an export.qif, for every date, the debits come forth before the credits so that in the next financial app one imports that data, the Balance Column is in the red and one has to move the credits before the debits to correct the problem.

The program doesn't do the things you need

The program doesn't tell you what's be reconciled and what hasn't. It doesn't tell you the last reconciled balance or date it ended. You can't erase all reconciliation marks and start over. It's Jan 12, and I'm going to have to do it all in excel to finish for the year. I'm sorry I bought this program.

Should have stayed with Quicken!

I switched to Moneyspire 3-4 years ago, not being willing to continue Quicken on a yearly subscription basis, which I'd used and LOVED for many many years. I thought MS would be a one-time purchase, but nope, they bug the living daylights out of me to buy the next year's upgrade, which I did the first couple of times; but the price is going up and up and up every year, and I couldn't tell the slightest difference in the program after each new version purchase. Turns out it's the same as subscribing to Quicken, just given a different "name." I decided last year I'd coughed up all the money for this subpar program I was going to; now I'm forever stuck with a banner telling me my not-upgraded version is no longer supported and STILL getting a but*load of reminders to buy the latest VERY EXPENSIVE upgrade! If you love Quicken and think you're getting a comparable program with Moneyspire that you WON'T have to pay for every year, run, don't walk. They're playing you for a sucker!

Major bugs in calculation

Major bugs in calculation. Net worth and balance sheets double/triple count investment transactions resulting in inflated net worth and balance sheet asset totals. Customer support does not respond. I really miss Microsoft Money.

Customer service is Horrible

Customer service is bad. In August 2024 I prepaid for their 2025 Pro upgrade, scheduled for an October release. The Pro version includes Invoicing. First, I was not notified that the 2025 version was available, I had to ask and the next day I was provided with a link. None of the 3 download links sent, over a period of 2 weeks, resolved my problem. I was initially not provided the Pro version, subsequent links albeit Pro did not include Invoicing, which is what I paid for and hence was not resolved. They never asked a question, i always sent ..another link and none of the downloads fixed the issue. I assume Moneyspire is a very small company with limited support.

This is an entrapment programme

This is an entrapment programme. There is no free version. After using MoneySpire for two years, they have lost all my account records and will only reopen my account if I pay 56 pounds for an upgrade.

Subpar experience

I am currently a Quicken user and decided to switch over to Moneyspire but so far my experience has been subpar. I am having a terrible time with Moneyspire Connect. My accounts are connecting but no transaction are downloaded. I have sent several emails to support with no response. I have shut off my membership to quicken as I am thinking of going back to quicken if this issue is not resolved.

Charge appeared on credit card

Charge appeared on credit card, and unable to get answer as to what charge is for. I have used Moneyspire for 2 years, signed up for free version. I only need to keep track of checking account instead of on paper. Reports do not print fully and customer is unable to change the layout of report on paper, such as, changing from portrait to landscape.

Moneyspire Is a Perfect Low Cost Replacement For Microsoft Money

I'm afraid I have to disagree with the previous comments. In my experience, following the demise of Microsoft Money, Moneyspire has been the best alternative home finance program I have discovered.
I used Microsoft Money until early 2023, when a computer hardware upgrade made my original program unusable. Foolishly, I had not downloaded a CSV copy of the Money data to import elsewhere, so I was utterly lost.
I tried about six alternative programs, each purporting to be as good as Microsoft Money and easy to use. Had I had a CSV file to import, perhaps all would have been well, but starting from scratch, this was not my experience. I did not find any paid programs I tried to be easy or intuitive. Live bank connections (if needed) seemed to require constant renewal. That is until I came across Moneyspire.
In April 2023, I purchased Moneyspire (only $60, including live Bank Connect and Cloud Sync) and have been delighted with the ease of use. There was an initial learning curve, but I soon discovered that this program included everything I needed, including a replacement for Microsoft Money.
During the past year I have had no problems with the software, the live bank connection and cloud server have never failed. The only time I needed to contact support, I had a helpful and speedy response. I have been so delighted with Moneyspire that I have upgraded to the improved 2025 version.
I couldn't be happier with this program at such a low cost!

Months of harassing emails to upgrade

Months of harassing emails to upgrade. After refusing to upgrade the program is abruptly crippled without any notice that support will be discontinued and there will be no further internet capabilities. Also by not upgrading an annoying and permanent banner is placed at the top of the program further harassing you to upgrade. Program does work reasonably well but often the settings have to be reset. This program is not worth the extreme cost they now charge..$99. I paid $15 a few years ago with significant price increases each year with little program improvements to justify such a high cost. Looking for alternative.

All reviews below mirror my experience.

All reviews below mirror my experience.

1. I've been using Moneyspire for probably 5 years now. Originally, I did not have to upgrade yearly for the sync to work, that seems to have changed in the last year or so.
2. User interface is average at best. I've found that approx every 5th time I open the app, the formatting is whacked and I have to spend a minute or so getting the formatting back to normal. This happens waaay to frequently for a paid app.
3. I submitted a ticket to support 5 days agoo...crickets.

At this point, the value prop doesn't work.

I'm willing to pay more for a product that provides good service is anyone has a suggestion.

Agree with previous comments

Agree with previous comments. If you do not upgrade, you cannot sync. You can still use the register. Sync is not very reliable. The upgrade use to be reasonable but doubled in the last year. Not worth $70 upgrade or early discounts.
