DO NOT USE, NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!
I run a recruitment agency and was targeted by a series of account managers and salesmen who convinced me that they could significantly increase applications if I moved my service to them from one I was happy with. They miss-sold their product.
I signed up in haste and have not had a single application of worth in 8 months! It quickly became obvious that I would have to "manage" the account on a daily basis for it to work effectively, a scenario I do not have time for.
DO NOT USE!
I have had more account managers than I can remember in that time. When they realise that the system they are asking me to use is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE I am simply ignored.
Since day 1 I have asked to cancel. The customer service department has its hands tied. They tell you that if I chose not to pay, they WILL pursue me as I have agreed to a contract with no get out clause. "unfortunately your Monster contract does not allow any early termination as there is no cancelation clause." was the latest from the accounts department.
I have 4 months remaining and have stopped paying. I've tried to suggest a compromise but the answer is "If payment has not been received within three working days, we regret to inform you that your service will be suspended and a Default Notice prior to legal proceedings issued. Our intentions are to avoid any further escalations and trust payment will be forthcoming."
This company has no right employing aggressive sales techniques to draw you in. I cannot afford to throw £3600 away to a service that does not work.
Like many others before me, I cannot believe I didn't see the bad reviews before committing to these lying thieves.
Monster Recruitment UK - Talent Bin and Advertising
We are a small software consultancy specialising in Big Data Analytics and Integration.
The hype during the sales process made the suite of products being offered by Monster sound excellent, so excellent we went ahead and signed up to a 1 year contract.
The reality has been very different. Monster products simply do not work for our business, return on investment to date has been zero.
I've worked with the Monster customer success team to improve performance. After implementing suggested changes, unfortunately results have been equally as bad. I was told at the end of last week by our customer success manager that there is nothing more that can be done to improve advertising it just doesn't work for us.
Warning: Do not believe Monsters misleading sales pitch on advertising. Career add network and social job adds are just gimmicks (expensive ones at that). Talent Bin is weak there are other much better products out there that do the same. The candidate database is weak and out of date (although this is similar of a lot of generic job boards).
Despite the performance being so bad and no improvement possible, Monster have decided that they would like to hold us to our contract as we are unable to prove mis-selling. I say the proof is in the pudding!
After just 2 days a "account manager" calls to upsell you by £4,000
After just 2 days a "account manager" calls to help you. They help you by trying to up sell you for another £4,000 !! Had a job live for a week with 0 cv's Compare that to Total jobs we had 22 in 3 weeks and 2 hires.
DO NOT USE THEM, wish I had read all the comments below.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service, only trying to wring money out of you with no regard for helping you achieve your goals.
Sales people masquerading as customer support to try to sucker you to throwing more money away, avoid these people at all costs.
There is no quality control on the candidates applying, all were bad or irrelevant, and I got cold called for inappropriate products.
It's all so stale these days
DO NOT USE!!!
I am a recruitment company that used monster since Dec 2016.
It offers absolutely NO VALUE FOR MONEY and the rubbish they try to tell you about how to make up an advert is condescending to say the least!
How come the exact same advert gets more applications from a FREE SITE?!!! (they cant ever answer that!)
They do not have any get out clause so if it isnt working for you, you just have to pay them for their rubbish service.
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITH THEM - THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible
Monster have been trying to win our business for ages. Finally we decided to give them a go.
The warning bells should have started ringing when the "account manager" tried to sell us a package for £500 that was available direct on their website for £150.
The number and quality of cvs received has been abysmal.
Also, their advertising is bordering on outright lying. Their partner network where "Job posted across 100s of partner websites" in fact means that they will buy cookie driven banner advertising on websites such as ebay that have no relevance to finding candidates whatsoever.
Fortunately we were wary and only purchased one job advert with Monster. We will not be using them again.
Dishonest Trader - Terrible in ALL respects
Keep well away!
I was approached by Monster at the end of the month - they asked what size business we were and our needs - in turn they advised on a 'suitable' annual service. They pushed really hard to get approval within 2 hours and when I did this (on a Friday), I followed it up by research, only to find that there were monthly contracts far more suitable for my business needs - this was not offered because they were clearly not acting in the best interests of their clients, but their commission targets! When I spoke with them on Monday morning to cancel, they pretty much said tough luck and that I hadn't been mis-sold, merely 'upsold' - in order to be upsold, I had to be in possession of all packages available, but they chose not to disclose the monthly contracts.
The online portal is dated and the quality of CVs is abysmal - there was little 'account management' as our account handler left so we weren't supported as promised.
I asked for a contract extensive given we didn't even need to be sold the year contract as a gesture of goodwill, but I see from this site that they clearly don't worry about their reputation, so I wasn't offered any solution - they had an entire year to fix this issue!
I wrote to the head of sales and the company secretary and received no response from either - VERY rude and clearly a sign that they are sales focused and not client focused!
Monster by name and Monster by service - use at your peril!
Zero Results from Expensive Job Advert
If you are thinking of using Monster to fulfil your recruitment requirements don't waste your time and money. We purchased a 30 day job advertisement to recruit for Support Workers in the local area and the number of views the advert received was appalling which resulted in one application in the first two weeks of the advert in addition to this the candidate was completely unsuitable.
When we complained about the lack of results it took customer services around a week to even bother responding by which time we had completed our recruitment using a competitors website which was considerably cheaper and produced a large number of suitable candidates. When we then requested a refund they again took a week to respond and their response was basically that they don't care about their customers as, in their words "Monster doesn't guarantee performance of the Job Posting" which is basically the same as saying once we have your money we don't care anymore.
All in all Monster is far too expensive, you won't see any results, the CV search is useless and again far too expensive and should you have a problem they will deal with it when they get chance which is usually around a week.
All in all there is Indeed a much better solution for your recruitment needs where you simply pay for each click on your job advert so you know if you are spending money that people are seeing your advert.
Completely useless
Possibly the worst jobsearch website I have come across. A simple search for jobs within 20 miles of my location returned 153 results not a single one of which was within a hundred miles - some were as much as 400 miles away!
HATE THE WEBSITE
Monster i personally find difficult to use.
The jobs are always miles away. you have to keep repeating your self.
As it does not save your results.
Not a simple site to use. especially if your are using a net book.
Appalling
Looking for a job near me and jobs are coming up miles away despite a proximity search. my inbox is inundated with Jobs that haven't matched my description
