Good choice!

The whole process of choosing which two front doors could be fitted to our cottage and annex, selecting the style of door and door furniture was fully explained and we were given plenty of time to consider our various options without any pressure.
The fitting date had to be rearranged but on the day the fitters were well prepared, considerate and ensured all work was carried out to high standard.

A few things to watch out for.

I just want to give an open and honest review pointing out things potential customers should be aware of. I’ve read all the positive reviews and, like many others, we were very pleased indeed with the design and installation of our conservatory 12 years ago from Morton.
The installers and those who came on a few occasions to fix the leaks were pleasant and helpful.
However, one of them accidentally broke a pane and wax very apologetic. I felt very sorry for him. The pane was replaced but with different couloir glass. When I enquired, I was told that the glass would change colour over time once the sun had been on it but it hasn’t. After a while, I enquired again and was told the correct coloured glass was no longer available.
Sadly, two of the windows now are filling with water, one of which was moved by the maintenance crew several times as there was an stubborn internal leak. This defect in the glass was not good after such a short period considering the windows in this house were put in in 1989 and, until last year, only one had blown. I enquired whether Morton could kindly order replacements but the company wasn’t interested as it was over 10 years old and simply passed me onto a different company they recommended to change the glass. I contacted them but they wouldn’t take the job.
To aid a different company i found, I phoned Morton to request details of the measurements and type of glass used but was told that all records of my conservatory were destroyed after 10 years, This doesn’t make a lot of sense to me as they take up no space on a computer.
So, please, should you buy a conservatory from them or indeed anyone, check your measurements and record them.
I’m sorry to put s damper on so many deserved positive reviews but I think it’s important to point things out which might not be immediately apparent at the beginning of your contract.

Hello Mr Abrams

Firstly we are happy that you were very pleased with your design and installation of your conservatory which we completed for you in 2010.

In answer to a few of your issues I can confirm that our database does not hold the glass sizes hence we would have been happy to pass the sizes on to you. Servicing companies will come and measure prior to ordering replacement sealed units so this should not cause too much of a problem.

We hold various paperwork related to individual project’s in a customer folder, we have to rotate every few months to make way for others, this means job folders over 10 years old do get cleared out.

In response to the colouring issues of your replacement roof units at times there can be slight variations for the same glazing type due to being batched in different period’s, also glass types are continually updated and improved upon so what may have once been called ST150 will then be called Neutral, so the same glass ‘make up’ but a different brand which can have a slight colour differential. It is not specific to our Company it happens across the whole of the glazing industry.

I hope this explains the situation with a little more clarity and may I take to opportunity to thank you for your review.

Stylish Conservatory

First the good things .We are very happy with the finished product and the team arrived on the schedule ,most of the snagging was competently completed quickly by another team from Mortons.
The not so good things, we felt the team did not provide adequate weatherproofing during installation which was disappointing and reflected on our Morton experience. Poor communication of changes to the initial design construction were not well communicated.

We are happy that you are pleased with the overall project it really does look fantastic.

Apologies we were unable to keep fully weathertight whilst taking down the existing conservatory prior to the erection of your new one, unfortunately, the heavy rain had other ideas! We are not aware of any changes to the initial design and cannot see any variations to the contract on your project, will be happy to discuss further if you would like to make contact.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review.

Fantastic new front door with great service

We recently had a new front door fitted by Morton. Really pleased with the door and the look is amazing.
Fitters were really pleasant and dealt with a couple of issues that occurred.
Throughout the process we have been really pleased with the friendly nature and professionalism shown.

Utility room shell

This is the second project managed and executed for us by Morton. The contract was to design and build, to the stage of a weatherproof shell, a lean-to utility room. Morton undertook the outline and detailed design work and obtained the necessary consents.

We were very satisfied with the design and sign-off process. The various practical elements of the project were programmed very efficiently and the work was completed in a timely manner. Communications with the office were first class.

All work was completed to a high standard using good quality materials. The site was kept clean and tidy and all waste was removed as it arose. The tradesmen were, without exception, considerate, careful and rightly proud of their work.

The utility room will be a very valuable addition to our home.

Fantastic Company

The whole process was seamless from start to finish. The project was complicated in that we have a number of windows and French doors of varying sizes and the goal was to match our existing wooden sash windows as closely as possible with a non wooden solution. We are exceptionally pleased with the end product, the customer service throughout and the fitters were fantastic, non intrusive and helpful friendly and expert at their craft. I would not hesitate to recommend Morten they are a great company

Excellent work

Excellent communication all the way through. Very professional but friendly staff from initial contact with James, from Paul and Gareth who built the base of the conservatory, and from Andy and Richard who completed the installation. Great follow up from Tracey and her team. Highly recommended!

5 Stars for our Replacement Windows

Morton were a natural choice for our new windows as we have been so pleased with our garden room they added to our house eight years ago.
We have not been disappointed. From the initial chat with James who consolidated our vague thoughts of what we wanted into a specification to the fitting of the windows and doors (earlier than we had originally been advised) by Sam and Dan everything went smoothly and we are very happy with the result.
Everyone involved with the installation went the “extra mile” to ensure the process was finished to our complete satisfaction. Thank you Mortons.

Exceptional quality

It is a great pleasure to write a review for this company. We came across this firm following a house viewing with our daughter where a Morton orangery had been installed, we were so impressed we contacted them immediately to discuss our ideas to add an orangery to our own property. Our build has just completed and we are absolutely delighted with it. From our initial meeting with Kevin, to the surveyor, groundwork’s, electricians, plasterer and Granny & Neil, who did the majority of the build, were exemplary, everything has been done to the very highest of standards. There was not a single day from the start of the project to the finish (approximately 1 month) that there was not someone here working and the whole project ran very smoothly with regular courtesy calls from the office team to check we were happy with everything. This company won’t be the cheapest you will find but having had several different home projects over our 50+ years of home ownership this firm are of the highest standard and the quality is worth the price. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Morton and thanks to all for such a wonderful addition to our home, a company that clearly understands that quality workmanship and using professional trades people results in excellent outcomes & therefore repeat business. A very reputable local firm, congratulations to you all and we wish your business every success in the future.

1st rate once again...

This is the 2nd build Morton has done for us- previously an old conservatory was replaced. This time they built a new utility, converted the garage to a craft room with toilet and designed a glass link between the two (not easy when there is nothing there to measure from!) We are so pleased with the work. It is of v high standard and, as before, the workmen were all v professional and friendly. The site was always tidy and any queries we had were answered promptly and sorted. They were on site for about 3 months I think and were a pleasure to have around. Would most definitely recommend and use again.

Very friendly and polite staff from start to finish. Advice given but not pushed to get a more expensive alternative. Very clean and tidy while fitting being done. Head office checked in to make sure everything was going as planned during fitting. Nothing seemed to much trouble. Excellent experience.

No thanks

Over the last 15 years I have spent in excess of £30,000 with Mortons and have been happy with their product and told my friends about them. This has now all changed since the guarantee ran out. The conservatory roof developed a leak some years ago very close to the electrics and was repaired by Mortons. The same has happened again so in view of the risk of fire I contacted them and asked for their help knowing full well of a cost and expecting to pay. Afer 2 phone call and emails they were not interested and didn't do repairs out of guarantee.I was given a telephone number of someone who may help. This is the sort of service I expect from a cheap and nasty 1970s double glazing company not Morton. I would not use them again.

Sorry you feel this way but currently we are extremely busy and we do not have a dedicated service engineer so it would not be possible to attend to your problem for some weeks. You said you have always been happy with Mortons and our service, so as time is of the essence, with your product being 5 years out of its warranty period we offered someone independent to help.

We had a terrible experience and very unprofessional in terms of after sales service.

We had a terrible experience. There was no project management or communication from Morton during our installation. Our boiler pipe and gate post were hit and after following up on this the way in which this was resolved was far from professional. No contact was made after the installation as part of follow up and we have been chasing for 9 months to receive documentation. The origin windows have not been registered with FENSA 9 months after installation. Really unprofessional and no after sales service.

I am sorry to hear this. I understand that you must feel frustrated, I looked into this for you, I can see that you had your final inspection carried out on the 28th February 2020 and then of course we had the global pandemic which caused us to close our office’s. After lockdown was lifted enough for us to start returning to the office we had to wait for building control to also return, albeit from their homes. This did cause a delay on you receiving your final certificate paperwork, we received this on 5th August 2020 and emailed to you on the 6th August 2020 rather than post due to Covid-19.

Your Orangery does not require a FENSA certificate, this is a requirement for replacement windows/doors to a property.

I can see that there were many attempts to complete courtesy calls to you during the work in progress without success, everything is logged to our database for reference. As with any build there are always unforeseen issues that may arise, I can see that any complications that came up were attended to.

I hope this clears up your query and please feel free to contact us if you have any further concerns.

Thank you
The Morton Team
