Rented a car ,made the reservation online and at the pick up time was informed that they accept Amex so i had so "buy" an insurance. I was also charged a deposit of 70€ for the toll. The car was delivered in July and till now i did not received the deposit back.

This company has ruined our trip to Madeira. Firstly the negligence of the staff and not caring about their customers. As long as they have paid, they don't care. 2 months later we STILL have not been reinbursed from our No Warranty + excess of £641. We have constantly been put on hold, and no one has returned our emails except for an automated email return. Avoid this what seems to be a complete CAR SCAM for money!!

Hello,When my family me, my wife and our 2 kids arrived at our destination in Algarve, Portugal, I was informed that I would need to pay double the originally agreed amount. Instead of 370 €, the total was now around 720 €. I had already paid 1200 SEK around 100 € with my Amex card, but was told that Amex was not accepted at the rental location (Movida). They gave me a handwritten contract stating that I would be liable for 2750 € in case of an accident. To cover this, they offered two types of insurance – one for 289 € and another for 450 €. I believe this handwritten contract is entirely illegal, and I can provide a copy of it.
I requested a proper contract, but they refused to provide one. When I returned to Stockholm, I contacted the support number +46844683757. Katarina and Janis from Greece answered in English, and after reading my email, they advised me to read the section on terms and conditions to avoid such surprises. They refuse to refund the booking amount, even though I paid for the cancellation.
The company that rents out the cars is called Movida, and Carrentals.com handles the bookings. It was difficult to find both a phone number and an email address for cancellation, and I only managed to find them once I got home. I asked Movida at the place to cancel the car, but they did not assist me either.
I just want to warn others to avoid experiencing the same issues as me and my family. They should stop deceiving their customers regarding the agreed amount. When I booked the car, Trustpilot showed a rating of 5, but on https: //se .trustpilot .com /, the ratings are 2 for Rentalscar and 1 for Movida Portugal. Both companies should be closed if you ask me.
I had a poor exerience with Movida
I had a poor exerience with Movida. The car packed up leaving me stranded in the Brazillian mountains. I called them twice to explain the problem and tell them I needed transport to the airport for my flight. Both times they said they'd call me back but failed to do so and I had to pay $300 for a private transfer.
I contacted them any times asking for compensation but I never got a response.

pretty much everything went wrong. It took 3 hours to actually get a car to me on San Miguel, Azores. The contract promised when I finally picked up did not reach me until I was returning the car. staff at returns insisted I put a tiny scratch on the car and did not "create a police report." I will never rent from this company again.

Upon collection of the vehicle we were faced with hidden fees that just weren’t obvious to us at the time of booking. What we thought was thought was going to be an expense of around £150 resulted in costing us over £400 due to the pressure of buying additional insurance upon collection of the vehicle, as we were told the insurance we had bought at the time of booking online was invalid. When the vehicle arrived it had multiple dents and scratches that were undocumented and we had to force the employee to walk around the car with us.
The real problem lies with the fact that we accidentally left a bag at the establishment with nearly £200 worth of belongings within (children's tablet, toys, headphones). The company advised us they would hold to an our bag until we returned the vehicle. Upon return of the car we were told they could no longer find our bag and it was not where they had left it in safe keeping. We were later contacted by the company upon our return to the UK advising they had found the bag and would send it to us. This was over two months ago, they are now failing to respond to any of our correspondence and I am left with no option but to file a police report for the theft of our property.
I am outraged at the actions of this company and would avoid at all costs.
I rented a car with Movida for my trip and it was great
I rented a car with Movida for my trip in Goiás, with a pickup in Brasilia airport. Everything went pretty well. Although the pickup process is very bureaucratic, it went smoothly and the staff was friendly. Rate was great and the car was OK. Actually the car was great, small but powerful and fit for some terrible roads they have there. What I mean is that the car was relatively old. Returning the car was equally smooth and a swift transfer to the terminal was offered. My only complain is insignificant: they forgot to fill up the water deposit for windshield cleaning.

I rented (06/21/24) a car and couple minutes later the car was showing the message oil change required, I went back inside the store ( São Bernardo do Campo) and showed the attendant the picture, she said it is fine you can go I told her that I was not sure and she keep saying no worries about that. On the next day the car temperature was 98, I went to other agency and than the nightmare starts, they don’t have any car of the category that I choose and I was recommended to go to another store, the worse one ever, the attendant was trying to help but her manager was a pain and very rude, zero costumer service at all, she even try to say that I was coming up with something so just I cannot refurn the car, I was so upset with the whole situation that the only thing that I was looking for was for leve the store and never again see the face of no one on this S* company. Not recommended!!!

Very dodgy rental provider. Please, be aware of the scam here. At the counter no one could speak English so be ready to use google translate (Campo Grande airport location). Extra charges for some invisible cracks, at the pick up fuel tank was indicating only 330 km range (when I return with full tank it was showing 550 km; very strange), mandatory car cleaning charges, imaginary fine charges after 5 months of rental
If this is your last resource for a rental car, make sure you take a lot of photos and videos before and find some interpreter; be ready to be charged much more along the way so don’t be so happy about great price

I hired a compact car from Brasilia airport in April 2024. We arrived a couple of hours early and they wouldn’t let us take the car until the time we had booked, so we had to wait around, but I don’t think that’s so unreasonable really. I’m just mentioning as a note to others thinking of arriving early. I thought it was a bit cheeky when they said we needed to wash the car before returning it (or pay a fee for them to do it) because I’d never had to do this for a car rental, but after seeing the state the car was in after a week of dirt roads, I can understand why they ask for this. They required a credit card for the deposit on collection of the car (I tried a debit card first but it wouldn’t work) but this is apparently standard for car hire abroad. The car itself was good and had no problems, and the hire fee was very reasonable. Staff were polite and friendly. Drop-off was simple enough too.

I rented a car with Movida some times ago. After more than 1 year I received a charge on the credit card (not a big value, around 22-23 Euro). I try to contact them by email and by phone asking information on the charge. I received a protocol number and wait for information, wait, wait, wait, wrote again, told them that without information I was going to open a claim on the credit card. Nothing. Transaction cancelled.
After 1 year I made a new reservation with them, but when I went there for the pick-up they refuse to give me a car, saying that I had a pending issue. Ok, not a big value, I offer to pay. No, it's not possible, you have to contact Movida! Movida? so who you are? It was saturday and "movida" office were closed. I went to another company.
I wanted to solve the issue, I contact them, asked again for a report of the charge. After a while they just wrote than it's not possible to prepare a bill to pay, but I can pay at desk when making a rental (really? I was just refused). No information about the charge, asked again. Nothing. Time to time I receive and email, last on 26/03/2024, if I want to pay the pedning issue, and surprise, now are two charges with 10 days difference and same value.
They don't give any information on the charge, just force people to pay; I wanted to pay for what is my fault, but receiving a charge after more than 1 year for the rental without any explication, is too much. If I was a Brazilian user I would have been marked as a bad payer! Luckly I'm not.
It happens with other rental company in Brazil to receive a fine, and they gave me the report of the police. It happens a couple of time, the day of car return to the airport, it was not permitted for the car to travel on the motorway in Sao Paulo. Be careful with number plate they gave you, for both pick-up and return.
3 mins delay and they cancelled the booking, with no other option..
My client would arrive to the destination at 12noon. So I booked the car pick-up at 13:00PM. My client's flight delayed around 40 mins and he only made it to Movida at 14:03PM. For my surprise Movida cancelled the booking and denied to do anything for an already paid carhire. They've only send him away saying there was no car for him there.. So I've called Movida and asked if they do these things with their clients and the answer was YES.. Never book with them as if you need to go to the toilet and arrive 3 mins late they will cancel your booking leaving you in a bad situation. Avoid at all cost.
CORRUPT COMPANY, KEEP AWAY
I rented a car with them for 10 days. the rent was paid in advance. I gave the car back and 3 weeks later they charged twice the amount of rent from my card. No explanation. After several e-mails, all they said is I have to call, they can't reply by e-mail. I called and they couldn't find me on the system. I am still disputing the charge with my card and they placed another charge. Again with no explanation. I have now placed a block on my card so I don't get any further surprises. I cannot believe they get away with this practice, extremely corrupt company. I will never rent with them again and if you don't want to get ripped off with unexplained charges STAY AWAY.

Never ever rent with this company. They make false promises and use your creditcard for payments that are don't agreed upon. Fortunately we had a signed contract which states that they make false credit card charges so the credit card company returned the payment.
FRAUDS…Illegal Business Practices
Never rent from this company they illegally charge you additional fees after you return your car with no explanation. They charged me $2,000 for returning the car a day early stating breach of contract even though contract only reads there is a breach if turned in past the date. We are retaining a lawyer to get our money back as we had to jump through hoops in order to just find someone that told us why they charged us double the cost of the rental. Lawyer states they are blatantly just trying to manipulate the wording of the contract. They are dishonest frauds, never touch anything that has their name attached.
