Wolverhampton stafford road branch

Wolverhampton stafford road branch. Well mannered staff nice and polite nice people to talk to. They answer any questions you have with good advice i like the fact they have mixture of male and female fitters/testers good to see female getting into the motor trade. Been comeing to this garage for few years for mot/tyres and seen the young girl (amy) that moted my car start off as a tyre fitter and worked up to mot tester Honest tester not out to rob you and get more money out of you (evan thought she failed my car 😂) but an honest fail on broken coil spring changed the spring my self and amy got me back in for retake and passed the car the next day keep up the good work credit to the company 👍👍👍

Terrible service once you have a complaint

I would have given zero, but the Trust pilot system wouldn’t let me.

Initially, everything seemed fine. I had new brake discs and pads, new tyres and investigation work on the rear handbrake. Paid over £673

But then I noticed an issue. My Pre MOT health check spotted 2% water in my brake fluid and advised a change of fluid. I asked Mr Tyre why they hadn’t done this during the new brake fitted two months previous and was told they nor anyone else would, because it is a different maintenance procedure. Now, to be honest, I don’t know a lot about cars, but I would imagine if I was a mechanic and someone asked me to change their brake discs and pads, I might just have a quick check of their brake fluid, as presumably I need to renew it along with the new discs and pads. So I think it’s a safety issue here. You fitted new brake discs and pads but failed to 1. Renew the brake fluid. 2.Inform me that the brake fluid was contaminated. 3. Ask me whether I wanted the brake fluid change as an extra (I would obviously have agreed to that, der, safety).

So I emailed the repair shop and received an answer, basically calling me a liar, that I hadn’t had an advisory for this brake fluid matter. So I had to send the advisory check list clearly showing the problem highlighted in red. No apology.
So now I have the arduous task of emailing various people, first it was the repair shop, now it’s head office, with each email answered by a more aggressive version of the person before. As with all these car repair companies, as soon as you run into a problem, they get all aggressive and try to intimidate you. It’s now not about the financial aspect, it’s about customer satisfaction for me. I intend to contact Trading Standards as I believe it to be a safety issue.

Now, we are arguing about the £50 clean and adjust for the handbrake investigation. I recently had the handbrake adjusted because Mr Tyre couldn’t do it, but they charged me £50 to “clean and adjust” it, but they didn’t adjust it. The new company who carried out the repair, told me it hadn’t been cleaned and obviously was never adjusted (which I knew of course)
Mr Tyre keep telling me they are honest and transparent, but £50 for a non existent cleaning doesn’t sound very honest or transparent to me, does it to you? And then there’s the brake fluid issue again. Honest and transparent? Really?

Their customer service has been terrible. Yes, I have asked important questions about service and safety. And yes, I have threatened further action, including contacting trading standards and this trustpilot review. As a dissatisfied customer, I am entitled to this and more if necessary. But they seem to be making the situation even worse by constantly belittling my concerns. I am currently arguing with Pete at Lichfield head office, who seems to be getting more and more aggressive with me, lol.

I would have said, “okay, Mr B, we understand your concerns. We see it slightly different, but okay, bring your car in and we’ll sort it out for you, no problem, a freebie, on us, or 50% off the £60 usual charge (I know £60 for a fluid change). Especially has we charged you £50 for the look at your handbrake”. They offered me 10% off as a goodwill gesture. I wouldn’t now be writing this review or walking round Wolverhampton telling everyone to steer clear of these cowboys.”Good will gesture”, meaning “we are right, you are wrong, but here’s a begrudging £6 off mate”! Obviously, I know they won’t, but If they offered me £60 off I wouldn’t accept it, not now. I won’t ever use them again.

I just know they will have a very structured answer to my review, and it’s going to be interesting reading that’s for sure. I wonder what they will come up with?

What would I say to anyone about to use Mr Tyre Wolverhampton? Do it and hope it all goes well. First sign of trouble and you’ll be sorry.

Their response was as follows "As any reputable garage will inform you, changing the brake fluid is part of the servicing schedule. This is the exact specified change interval, as described by Ford themselves as part of their servicing routines:

Braking system: renew the brake fluid (every 24 months)

When you have your vehicle serviced with us or any other garage that carries out the procedures correctly, the question is asked.

In conclusion, there is this fact:
The brake fluid change is not part of the replacement of brake pads or brake pads and discs."

But I wasn't asked any questions about brake fluid. That's one of my points!
If you had of asked, of course I would have accepted the offer of a brake fluid change. It's safety critical. Who wouldn't?
The problem for me is just that. How can a garage deem a brake fluid change as NOT safety critical? What if your brake fluid change hadn't been carried out during your regular service. I'm going to Trading standards about this! Update soon.

Dear Mike,

I am not going to respond to each point in full as we have already done that directly with you; however, for the benefit of anyone who reads your lengthy and somewhat inflammatory review, I can categorically state the following to be the truth:

As any reputable garage will inform you, changing the brake fluid is part of the servicing schedule.

The brake fluid change is not part of the replacement of brake pads or brake pads and discs.

I am sorry that we were unable to express this clearly enough for you to understand. But as I stated, we are more than happy to discuss this with the local Trading Standards department, where we will be able to provide evidence from Ford.

Kind regards,

Pete Bamford
