Booked an MOT almost 1 month in advance, received a phone call less than 24 hours before appointment, to be told all testing at that branch was cancelled, (and had already been for past 2 days which is strange as they sent me a text yesterday, to reminder the test was due) so requested a transfer to another Halfords branch for an urgent appointment, and was told different branches can not communicate with each other.
Free parking fine at the Croydon Purley Way store
Terrible - Called to Croydon Purley Way store and parked out the front as advised. Got a parking demand in the post 2 weeks later for £60.
Don't shop here - you may get a ticket for doing nothing wrong. Halfords C/S not interested.
Shop elsewhere or it will cost you!
I had multiple jobs carried out at the…
I had multiple jobs carried out at the Mansfield branch of Halfords and unfortunately my experience left me with very little confidence in the workmanship or customer service.
After work was carried out on my ignition coil, the scuttle panel was left loose and incorrectly fitted. I raised concerns at the time but was repeatedly told this was “normal” for the vehicle. Shortly afterwards, a crack developed from the lower edge of the windscreen in the same area.
I later had the windscreen replaced by Autoglass, and their technician immediately identified that the windscreen had been under tension and that the scuttle panel had not been fitted correctly. Once refitted properly, it sat flush exactly as it should have done originally.
This was not an isolated issue. Following previous work involving my thermostat/clutch cables, the vehicle began juddering badly. Again, I was told this was “normal for the model.” After repeatedly returning, an arcing HT lead was finally identified under the bonnet. Despite visible sparking, I was still told the vehicle was safe to drive.
What frustrated me most throughout this experience was the repeated dismissal of concerns rather than properly investigating them. As someone who maintains and regularly hand-cleans my own vehicle, I know when something has changed.
I contacted customer relations multiple times with detailed evidence, videos, and documentation but received no meaningful response.
In contrast, the service from Autoglass was excellent, professional, honest, thorough, and reassuring.
Overall, I left feeling disappointed, ignored, and unable to trust the workmanship or advice I was being given.
More than a pinch of salt needed.
Took my car for a service at the Lincoln Autocentre Tritton Road. Received a phone call that they were recommending £1400 worth of work on the car. Took it to an independent engineer who could find no work that needed doing except a front side light bulb replacement! No sensible and realistic assessment of risk or timescales by Halfords. At the very best they were incredibly risk averse and covering their backs at my expense. Anyway I would check out your local garage first before using Halfords and if you do use them, take what they tell you with more than a pinch of salt.
If I could give this -5 stars I would
If I could give this -5 stars I would! The only thing good about this is it's easy to book, but don't be fooled as even that turned into a right S*** show! Booked, paid and turned up 10 mins before my appointment as requested, only to be told the van hadn't arrived and could I wait 2 hours, no I couldn't so we agreed I'd go back after my appointment, went back 6 hours later.
Seemingly straightforward two new tyres fitted, attitude and grumpiness levels from the two staff was unprecedented, and one had some bad customer service in my time so this says a lot. Driving home my tyre pressure light and a light I had never seen came on, there was no point in going back to the garage as it closed before I could get there, so first thing this morning I call the number on the invoice, to get put through to the wrong place twice, I then decide maybe the chat will be better, it was not, first they argued that the tyre pressure light which had not been on before getting be tyres with them, was not their fault, then they say take the car back, the other warning light says not to drive the car, so I tell them and she said as a matter of urgency the garage would call ASAP, this was at 8am, by 3pm I called the garage, got through this time but wish I hadn't!! Some to the rudest person I can recall speaking to in recent history. Explained the situation to which he argued it wasn't their fault and then told me the other light was spark plugs which isn't what it said in my manual! I did tell the woman in the chat I have a disabled son and we often need to get to the hospital in the middle of the night so I need a working, safe car, Halfords couldn't give a toss, they had my money, they broke my car and they don't care, AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE YOU LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY MIGHT, AVOID ANY PERTH GARAGES THAT ARE NOW HALFORDS. I now have a car with lights on saying I can't use it, when I need to use it, and no means of getting it fixed, I will never use this company again and will make sure everyone I know doesn't either.
Paid £808.76 for a Full Service that was NEVER done! Fraudulent and dangerous
I am absolutely disgusted with the service provided by Halfords Autocentre Harrogate. On 29/04/2026, I took my Renault Clio for a Full Service and paid a total of £808.76, which was supposed to include an oil change, new oil filter, and new spark plugs.
When I picked up the car, the "Service" dashboard light was still on. I questioned the staff immediately, and they lied to my face, claiming they "didn't know why" it was still on.
This week, my car was inspected by an independent, qualified garage in York for an unrelated repair. They were shocked by what they found and provided me with undeniable photographic evidence:
1. The spark plugs are severely worn, burnt, and covered in heavy carbon build-up. They were NEVER replaced.
2. The engine oil is pitch black and contaminated, completely degraded. They never changed it.
3. The filter housing is full of old sludge, meaning it was never even opened.
Halfords charged me hundreds of pounds for new parts and just left the old, dangerous ones inside my engine. They sent me away under the false impression that my car was safe, putting my life and my children's safety at risk.
This is not poor customer service; this is fraudulent business practice and a total breach of the Consumer Rights Act. I have already sent a formal complaint with all the photos, and I demand an immediate full refund. If this is not sorted straight away, I am taking this to Trading Standards, The Motor Ombudsman, and initiating a chargeback with my bank.
Avoid this garage at all costs if you value your money and your safety!
worst service ever
ordered 4 tyres on line, got over charged by £142, had to call them to get refund (cost to me) but the worst bit is when i got to garage there were no tyres, despite text messages telling me to go, 34 mile round trip for nothing, more cost to me. I have never used the inverness branch before and its a dirty dump, and this is what a customer sees and the attitude of the staff is beyond bad, the young lady who sort of spoke to me should sacked, no hello, no can i help, no sorry, just slouched in chair, not even in a uniform. I have now had to ring to cancel, more cost to me. Never again. Never beaten price? always beaten on customer service
Regarding Perth (UK) tyre centre extremely poor customer service
Regarding Perth (UK) tyre centre:
I realised I needed to replace my front passenger side
Tyre due to damage to wall. I didn’t expect to get a new tyre that day for obvious reasons but asked if he would check the trend condition of my rear tyres as I thought I might have to end up having to buy 3 tyres rather than 1
I was amazed at his attitude when informed I would have to make an appointment to have a two minute check done
Halford services wallasey garage
Halford services wallasey garage , where extremely helpful. I had to pull over as my car just stopped and I thinknit might have run out of petrol. I walked to the nearest petrol station and filled the can but when I got back the hose wouldn't go into petrol cap. Two of the guys there helped me sort it no problem , and they didn't have to. They went above and beyond to help me , get my car going as I had to go get my daughter from gymnastics
Second Opinion recommended
Booked my car in for an electrical repair that was carried out well, satisfied with the job done.
What I don't like / appreciate is being given a free 'safety check' to be told I need completely unnecessary brake discs and pads. I verified this with a second opinion check at a different garage as well as my own driving experience.
Watch out for this with Halford Autocentre, always get a second opinion check!
I booked for an MOT and service…
I booked for an MOT and service combined Got the MOT,but had to attend the next day for the service,as they had no technion available.Halfords or Euro parts had ordered the wrong air filter Halfords ordered it again .But it was wrong again So I had to attend on a third day And when I looked a my service bill .They had charge me twice of £19.58 for a fuel system cleaner .Hopping for a refund So No i won't be going back there next time

I would not recommend this garage and wish I had never trusted them with my car.
I booked my vehicle in for a cambelt replacement as an investment in the long-term health of the engine. The process was stressful from the beginning, with appointments cancelled at short notice due to staff sickness, causing repeated inconvenience and disruption.
After the work was completed, the car developed engine noises that were not present beforehand. Despite my concerns, the garage never accepted responsibility.
The original cambelt specialist apparently left, and my car was never properly reassessed by anyone with the same expertise. I have been left distressed and facing the consequences of damage that I believe occurred after their work.
I was also disappointed to discover they are not registered with the Auto Ombudsman!
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.
Tyre replacement
Just had all four tyres replaced at the henshaw lane branch
Absolutely top service
All sorted with the lease company and job done in no time
5 star!!
left in the lurch
read the blurb able to tackle all maintenance problems. no they are not after checking on a simple electrical problem they gave my daughter her money back . she was going to have a service, and she had to drive home with a dodgy car. after being told in front of the aa on phone they could handle the prob the day before.
'We specialise in mechanical and electrical repairs for all makes and models of vehicles.' never again. stick to bikes.
from the mouth of their own staff.. no they are not...
Sheffield/ Crystal Peaks branch
Free exhaust check resulted in being informed a replacement central and rear system required.
Due to Halfords not being able to obtain the parts I undertake a second opinion for a quote elsewhere and to my surprise there were no issues and no exhaust leak!
The technician also noted lights were checked yet I actually require a replacement one so go figure!
Your autocentre in burnley caused…
Your autocentre in burnley caused damage to my vehicle by sheering one of the wheel bolts during fitting of 4 new tyres , I have put a complaint in and nobody has got back to me it’s been 7 days and my car is currently not road worthy and the MOT is on 17th May , I would appreciate someone from management to resolve this urgently. Case number:00644288
I will be contacting the management team on social media LinkedIn if this case isn’t resolved today. Before 17th May 2026
Excellent Service and Professional
Hi,
I recently replaced all four Pirelli N-rated high-performance SUV tyres at Halfords Autocentre Chadwell Heath. The staff were professional, and a special shout-out to the branch manager, Greg, who was very polite, professional, and well spoken. He takes every job seriously and gives full professional details once the work is completed.
Excellent service from start to finish. I would highly recommend them for car repairs, MOTs, servicing, or tyre replacements.
Regards,
Bobbie
Quality of work/ staff attitude
I used the Halford Tyre Centre in Grays for a full service on my car. During the service, I was asked for my locking wheel nut. I checked my glove compartment and confirmed to the garage staff that it was there.
When I collected my car, I noticed on the report that it stated the locking wheel nut was not in the compartment. I immediately asked a member of staff to come and check with me. The locking wheel nut was clearly in the glove compartment, yet the staff member continued to insist that it had not been there when they checked.
I then asked whether the tyres had actually been checked, and I was told that only a visual inspection had been carried out and that the tyre tread was considered acceptable.
What I found most disappointing was the attitude of the staff member. Instead of apologising for the incorrect report, she
Made me feel as though I was being unreasonable or mistaken. At no point was any apology offered.
I find this level of customer service unacceptable. Customers should be treated with respect, especially when an error has clearly been made.

On this occasion was happy that my tyre did not need a new valve £100 as I thought but turned out to be a slow puncture. They checked the valve fixed my puncture £35. Great job very nice man.
