Nothing so far

Found my late mum's old Woolwich Building Society book, and thought I'd try out this service. Status - account found and bank will be in touch inside 3 months, well passed that and nothing. I won't hold my breath.

This is fake

This is fake. I followed up 10 days later only to be told I had to call the bank. The website said it would find any uk bank account and totally wasted my time.

I filled in search for santander/ Abbey National account that I have many documents for and they have tried to say it was closed which is totally not true, I have tried to get back into the site to print off my complaint and I have been totally unable to gain access to my application.

Don't trust the results!

After asking for a wide search of numerous Banks, was told there's no accounts with Natwest which is the only Bank I know we definitely DO have an account with! Other searches not returned yet but don't trust results now so total waste of time!

Absolutely useless and a waste of time.

I would agree with all of the other dissatisfied users of My Lost Account in that they are a complete waste of time and effort. I had a reply from them this morning saying that the account couldn’t be found, three months after I submitted the enquiry. However I have got the passbook for the account, when I tried to transfer money to it the message came back that the details matched and I have got a letter from TSB confirming that they hold a dormant account matching the details I submitted.

I never even got as far as creating an account

I never even got as far as creating an account. I set one up and validated the email, but when I followed the 'login' link in the validation email, I got the message 'invalid email or password'. For a start it would be worth knowing which of the two was wrong. I stuck with the same email address and followed the 'forgotten password' instructions to reset the password. Then I followed the 'login' link in the email which said I had successfully reset the password, using the new password obviously. Still got the 'invalid email or password' message. Tried to start from the beginning and create a new account with my email address only to be told there was already an account with that email address ! Completely gave up at this point. If I could give zero stars I would.

Useless service, just pretending to care.

Barclays bank “lost” two bank accounts with 25k and 50k.
They have my bank cards but are not able to find the accounts nor the money.
So their solution was to direct me to this absolutely useless website. I have requested the two searches which as expected, brought no results.

they don't save as you go

Spent a long time filling in their form (several pages, quite detailed) and it timed out while I was checking something.
They don't save it - so I have to start again. And what's worse is they don't even warn you before you start. Rubbish.

Not fit for purpose

Submitted information for two separate accounts which we are quite certain exist and still have funds deposited.
My Lost Account eventually came back ststaing nothing could be found.
There it ends.
No opportunities for follow up or challenge to their findings.
Not fit for purpose.

I entered the details of a deceased…

I entered the details of a deceased relative
Waited
I knew of one account and family knew he had accounts in Lloyds bank.
After some time the Lloyds bank came back as FOUND and that we would hear within 28 days some more information
14 days in NEW MESSAGE
NOT FOUND
How can this happen either he has an account or not
More wasted time simply trying to put in an accurate probate assessment for a relative

Now I am trying to contact Lloyds ... but not easy
I thought this service was meant to eliminate this cat and mouse situation at a distressing time

Worst customer service, most incompetent generic email responses.service

Worst customer service, most incompetent generic email responses. I have a dormant UK account with HSBC UK but am a foreign national, not residing in the UK anymore. Impossible to try and get my funds back owed to me. As we do not have HSBC branches in South Africa, I have kept fighting with HSBC and Lostaccount.org UK for nothing. The Mylostaccount.org.uk team is useless beyond. Not getting my funds although they have allocated and validated that my dormant account exists. This organization might well as be from a 3rd world country as they do NOTHING. Screenshot is from October 2023. The issue has been ongoing for many years, the last time I initiated a full investigation was in May, all they give me yes the account exists. Not sure what to do anymore. Going to the UK Ombudsman now.

I simply can not see how this "my lost account" is fit for purpose. It does not answer phones, it does not reply to e mails, i would advise folk not to bother with this ridiculously ineffective "service" and go through the banks you think you may have an account with. "My lost account" could not find a light switch in a dark room. Dont bother with them.

I would have put zero stars if I had a choice. This is an absolutely pointless service. I have searched for accounts for a recently deceased relative and they have advised they have no accounts. Only issue is I have (after registering for the service) found bank statements and have spoken to both banks already who have reported significant balances. I hope no one is relying on the accuracy of this service.

Great in theory, but useless in reality!

The idea behind this service is great, but in reality the service is useless and the customer support is horrendous!

Completed form in Feb 2022 and submitted. Waited patiently for results to update.
Advised in Apr 2022 that some accounts had been found & that respective banks would be in touch........
Waited until Sep 2022 & having still heard nothing I contacted mylosyaccount "customer support" team.
No response!

Chased again in Oct & Nov 2022.
Still no response!

Eventually got a reply in Dec 2022 advising they would contact the "dormant account" team to find out the status of my enquiry.

All went quiet again.........

Chased Mar 2023.
No response!

Chased Apr 2023.
No response!

Chased Mar 2023.
Guess what?......

Noticing a pattern here?.....

Yep, no response!

Chased May 2023.........
Hooray, a response!

But my joy was short lived - apparently because more than 12 months has passed since I completed my application, that they no longer hold any of my details!!?!!
My only option was to complete the application form again, and submit as a new enquiry!
Errrrm.......NO THANKS!
Why would I waste any more of my time on a service that is useless?

Yes, I get that it's a free service, but the support given should you need to contact them is dreadful.

Don't waste your time - you'd be much better off contacting banks & building societies directly yourself!

Complete sham

Complete waste of time. The C&G said they couldn’t find the account. The C&G were taken over years ago! I have the pass book. Tried to get back to my lost account but email address bounces back. Tried UK fiancé but same problem. It’s all a sham

Still waiting for my information

I am still waiting (it's July) for them to write and provide me with information of how I can access my dormant bank account, which they advised they had located for me back in January. It then took them a further two months to contact me to ask for confirmation that I was still at the address I had given them in January, (I responded the same day) but it then took them a further month to come back to that email and say they would send me my information, via letter. I have heard nothing from them since, even after chasing again last month. Very poor customer service. There seems little point that they go to the trouble of finding your account only to do nothing with the information!!!
