"Locked account over legitimate $91 purchase — avoid"
Purchased two domain registrations using a prepaid Mastercard. Account immediately locked by their "risk management" team. Provided full order details — order number, transaction ID, card last 4, purchase date. They then demanded a payment descriptor from a prepaid card (impossible — prepaid cards don't generate descriptors) and then demanded government-issued photo ID for a $91 domain purchase.
Multiple emails over 48+ hours. Ticket NC-KRF-1562. Still unresolved.
Their fraud system is broken, their support is useless, and their verification process is designed to be impossible to complete. Avoid Namecheap entirely — use Cloudflare Registrar or Namesilo instead.

Especially for the costumer support, I'm totally satisfied with namecheap.

Tricky pricing gave me a 99cent Domain for the first year then 49$ per year to renew. Did not even warn me that it is only for first year next year will be 49$.
They sent me an email but still misleading, not solving the original issue of not quoting 2nd year 3rd year price. Don’t go with this company.

Mixed experience: and the contrast says everything about what good customer service looks like.
My initial support rep responded to my SSL activation issue with a copy-paste knowledge base reply that didn't address my actual problem. When I told her directly that the response wasn't useful and that this might be why Namecheap has so many negative reviews, she immediately transferred me to technical support.
That's where things turned around.
The second agent did exactly what I originally asked: she actually looked at my account to find out why the SSL certificate was taking so long to activate. No scripts, no generic instructions, just direct action. She identified the issue immediately and resolved it on the spot, even confirming that the SSL certificate was already included in my subscription.
The product is solid. The hosting works. But the quality of support depends entirely on who picks up. Namecheap would benefit from holding all agents to the standard the second rep set: listen first, look second, solve third.
When it's good, it's genuinely good. When it's not, it's a frustrating waste of time.

They tripled my domain price after the first year when i was led to believe this would not be the case when joining.
When i contacted support they used the terms and conditions to justify misleading our company.

Namecheap has switched its business model from supporting business owners to nickel-and-diming all of its customers. Every time I reach out to support, it takes about 2 hours to get anything done. I switched over from GoDaddy several years ago and was blown away by how supportive their team was. They would do whatever they could to help with dev questions and always took care of me as a customer. Now, after spending a good bit of money with them, they treat me far worse than they did when I was spending $2 a month. They constantly bounce you around from agent to agent, cant reach a manager even when asked, their team refuses to help in any way, shape, or form, and they will argue with you rather than just helping. It's a real shame to see, but at this point, we will be moving our account, which has steady growth, away from Namecheap as a whole. Things like SSL make up such a small percentage of your business, yet your team chooses to argue with me every time I speak with them. Hope you can make changes before making layoffs.

I've had a web-site with Namecheap for about twenty years, but lost them while in hospital. I'm trying to re-establish one. But with age and brain fade, I find it impossible to follow instructions because your manual authors don't explain clearly and use internal jargon -- which I've now forgotten.
Please give the job of writing instructions to someone who is aware of the difficulty of people not familiar with jargon -- for instance "cPanel" is meaningless until someone tells you what it means; what it is for; and how to access it.
I still can't get it working after months
ALSO on resetting passwords. Remember the time limit doesn't allow for people on the other side of the globe, and those who can't sit waiting for hours.

I purchased my domain through Namecheap, and the experience was very smooth. The domain management interface is intuitive, and the setup process was quick. I particularly appreciate that they include free WHOIS privacy protection, which is a great value. I haven't used their hosting services, but for domain registration, they are highly reliable and easy to use
