Absolutely tragic experience
Absolutely tragic experience. Initially visited to get my car MOT and failed, fair enough. I let them carry out the work to repair and retest for a pass… Only to have my car return with more faults and problems than ever before. I thought a reputable name would keep me in safe hands, however, Alex and his team falsely reassured me they will further assist resolving the faults as this is not a local centre for myself. He’s told me everything I wanted to hear with absolutely no action. Missing multiple days of work with no way home after failing themselves to carry out a simple ‘calibration’, months would’ve gone by without a promised update if I wasn’t to constantly call and ask what is going on. Over £1,000 spent here to get myself back on the road but once you drive away they couldn’t care less. Steer clear of this place at absolutely all costs.
Incredibly disappointing
Booked my car in for a major service on Sunday 2nd March as it was the closest garage to me that is open on a Sunday. I travelled 30 miles from North Wales for this. During the service I was called to be told that the garage did not have the correct air filter in for my vehicle so I would have to return later in the week once they had ordered a new one. This was frustrating as I specifically chose that garage as it was open on Sundays. I took time off work on Wednesday 5th March to drive an hour to the garage to get the new air filter fitted. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the staff noticed that the air filter had already been fitted and had a new one in, and therefore my 2hr round trip and taking annual leave was completely redundant as they had already completed the job in the service and I didn't need to return. This was not communicated and I had called 3 times in advance of returning to the garage to double check everything and was told it would be fine. Incredibly disappointing and I am now out of pocket in terms of both annual leave taken, time and petrol cost for their mistake.
Strange Company Policy…
I noticed a nail had punctured a tyre on my wife’s car, whilst on the drive. I removed the wheel and took it to the vicars cross garage for repair as I have done in the past . A member of staff said it was now company policy not to repair punctured tyres without the car . I said you are joking right ! and ask what was the thinking behind this . He said it was to make sure the wheel was fitted properly on the car after repair. So please tell me how a car with a puncture can be driven to the garage as most now do not carry spare wheels . Am I to use the inflation kit at additional cost just to get it there . Took it to another garage and had it back on the car within the hour. The member of staff was polite but this policy needs a rethink .

Not particularly helpful...
Called in on my way home from work to ask if somebody could quickly check whether the position of a nail in my tyre, quite close to the tyre wall rendered it unrepairable or if it might be able to be salvaged with a plug repair. The car was literally ten yards away from them out front but the guy at the desk said I'd have to book it in tomorrow to be looked at. It would have taken him or someone else literally 10 seconds to give me an answer but obviously that was too much hassle. Won't bother using National Tyres again

Just wanted to highlight the the high level of customer service experienced on visits to the Chester branch, clearly a team effort but dealings with Dave and Alex have been excellent by just doing the simple things right, good communication, good advice and responsive service on several occasions over the last 6mths. Many Thanks Carl
Unprofessional jokers
So called tyre professionals managed to strip my locking wheel nut adapter whilst claiming to have not used an air gun. The adapter was in perfect condition when I left the car with them. They said the nut was over torqued. After buying a new adapter, at a cost of £30, I removed the nut myself in the car park with ease without any specialist tooling. Do not trust these people with your car.

MOT with exceptional customer service
The title says it all! Had the pleasure of dealing with Dave today, who handled the MOT of my car and took the time to explain and break down the vehicle health report.
Overall, the service from the garage was exceptional and would highly recommend to anyone.

National Tyre and Auto Repair - Vicars Cross, Chester
After receiving such an incredible five star service, I had to leave a review and offer my thanks.
Today we had to return a hired car to a company in Chester and on inspection they found two nails in a tyre and told us they would charge us a lot of money for a new tyre and admin fees. After a little confrontation they gave us a short period of time to speak to tyre companies in Chester, to hopefully minimise the cost. We tried three other tyre companies and they were all very expensive, or too busy and could not help, or did not have the correct tyre in stock. We arrived at National Tyres Chester and as soon as I opened their reception door, I was given a lovely warm and friendly welcome by Dave. I explained we had a very short period of time to have the new tyre put on the car and return the vehicle to the hire company. Dave was easy to talk to, incredibly helpful and offered us not one but a choice of four different brand tyres. He assured us he could have the tyre on the car within 40 minutes, so we could meet the deadline to return the hired car. Dave's communication skills were impressive, reassuring and totally refreshing. Dave's approach showed he cared and wanted to help, which is a rare and exceptional quality in this day and age. Dave and his team were very professional and helpful, and managed to get the job done within 30 minutes, which was incredible, because it was very busy when we arrived. The help and speed offered, saved us over £100.00 when compared to the charges the car hire company wanted to charge us to replace the tyre, and the speed in which the team at National Tyres did the job, guaranteed we could return the car in time to meet the hire company deadline, ensuring we did not have to pay another days car hire.
A very big thank you to Dave and the Team at National Tyres Chester, for a five star 10 out of 10 service.
Keep up the excellent work.
We are very grateful and really appreciated your help.
Big thanks again to Dave and the Team.
Kind regards,
Neil and Vannessa.

Dissapointed.
Dissapointed.
Having picked my daughter up from Chester and other daughter already with me I was alerted by my car to a drop in tyre pressure. I called into the nearest petrol station to fill up on air and could hear a hiss from the tyre. Not wanting to risk the drive home and my car not having a spare tyre I popped over the road in to National tyres at 5:30 (they close at 6) to be told that they can’t do anything other than look at it tomorrow.
I’ve always been happy with the service in the past but it was quite obvious that they just wanted to clock off and get home. I don’t think customer safety and service is top of their agenda
There were around 4 members of staff ( one busy either smoking or vaping, I didn’t study it just noticed the fog in the work area, round the 1 car that was on the ramp). And 1 in reception. I’m pretty sure they weren’t all working on the 1 car…….
I’ve used them the before and it’s taken no more than 25 minutes to change a tyre. I’d have appreciated if they’d just looked at tyre to let me know if it was safe to drive home on.
