The service was fine but they’re uneducated

The service was fine. However, the staff are not trained in safety. I was in a potentially dangerous situation and asked your staff for help and they announced I had asked for help in front of the person I was asking for help from making the situation much worse. Thankfully a friend had arrived. Please educate your staff.

Renault Captur Rear brake shoes and cylinders £585

Upon inspection of my Renault Captur , it became apparent that the rear brake shoes and cylinders needed replacing and I was quoted a price of £585 . I queried the price over the phone before giving the go ahead and upon collecting my car I again questioned the bill with Dawn , the centre manager who showed me the defective shoe . The car is now functioning as it should and having brought the car to the garage on a Saturday , I was driving by Monday which I thought was pretty quick .
My best friend who was a centre manager at Kwik Fit , Bromley and has now retired to France said the following when I spoke to him several days later “ I can sort of live with the cost of the brake shoes ( £224 ) and fluid renewal ( 54.99 ) but that price to supply and fit rear wheel cylinders ( £306 ) is scandalous “ For clarity , he added that to replace a brake cylinder at the same time as a brake shoe should take 5 minutes per side .
In conclusion, it does seem that if you want to be returned to the road sharpish then you have to take a financial hit when you are mechanically challenged as indeed many people are .
I actually like the crew at National Rock Ferry and am loath to complain. I’m also now aware as I’m sure every other mechanical technician reading this would be , that National/ Halfords have at least £200 more of my money than they actually should .

Went in today to have two new tyres

Went in today to have two new tyres, knowing I had an alignment problem (that a previous garage couldn’t sort)
Lee and his team sorted the tyres and the alignment issue no problem!
Highly recommended, great job done by a great, friendly and helpful team

A poor outfit, unprofessional and don't supply basic paperwork or answer emails. Avoid

Halfords autocentre, Incle Street, Paisley
Was dissapointed with this Garage. I would not recommened them and would not use them again.
I booked my EV in for a service and when I picked it up the staff didn't seem to have any record of the booking. It was a bit amateur. I was given no service paperwork.
I emailed in asking to be sent the service paperwork but all I received was a incorrectly filled in 'health report'. And I had to chase them - they are not good at responding to emails.

I went to halfords because it was a bit cheaper than the main dealer but in hindsight I wouldn't have.

Overall a poor experience amd I gave them every opportunity to put things right

I called in to Selby branch at 8.00…

I called in to Selby branch at 8.00 this morning to see if they could fit me in to look at a possible puncture on my car.
The woman on reception was very rude to me.
I politely asked if they could fit me in. She said No and they were fully booked all day. She said she could fit me in the next day. I asked what time. She said she could not give me a time and I would have to fetch it and leave it. I explained I was working night shifts and really needed a time. She very rudely said if I give you a time you will expect it to be done at that time and it won’t be.
When I said I would leave it she said fine. Don’t bother then and looked away and ignored me.
This is disgraceful customer service. I will never go there again. Avoid at all costs.
I went to Kwik fit nearby and all the staff were so polite and helpful and went out of their way to help.

I had to unfortunately go to this garage for wheel alignment however my experience isn't good at all. The staff isnt friendly, moreover the issue still persits but they just wan to push that the work has been completed.
For the price they charged and how they behaved, i wouldn't recommend going to them.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Took my car in for an MOT. When i got the car back they'd scratched it. They took no responsibility for the damage even when it was obvious it had happened on their site. Raised a complaint and they did nothing. Absolute cowboys.

do not go there! damaged caused and no refund

I took my car in for new tyres, they broke my spare wheel carrier, twice, both times blamed it on an 'old carrier,'
it was then replaced, they broke it again, a brand new one, by using the wrong tool for the job, which cost me £366 to replace, not once but twice, so costing me over £700 in damages, which they admitted they caused, and have been ignoring me for weeks now after chasing them in person, they can refund at the garage, they cant refund over the phone, online, they just ignore you and the Halfords website is just as bad, as is the customer service I have 2 claims numbers, 28520060 and 28522181, job no 3769015923, dated 07.03.26 car WA17 ZXL, both involve Halfords very bad customer service, outsourced to some poor soul who is reading off a script and does actually nothing to help. there is no way of getting help or a refund for £700 worth of damages done by the Dunstable international tyre Halfords garage, which has left me here, as there is no where else to go.

A shockingly unpleasant experience

A shockingly unpleasant experience. I booked my car for several inspections. On the appointed day, I arrived, spoke with one of the workers at the reception, explained what was wrong with the car, and was told that everything would be checked and they would call me when I needed to pick it up. They called me back in the evening and said it was time to pick up the car. I went, they gave me the key, and said that all the details about the car and the inspections would be emailed to me. I said okay, great, thanks, and went home. On the way home, I received a text message saying they were sorry that my appointment today was canceled. I was surprised, called the garage again, and they said they would look into it and call me back. No one called me back. I received nothing in the email. I decided to contact support, and they told me that there was no sign in the garage that I had visited it today. I asked them to investigate this and check the cameras, but they didn't respond positively, and that was the end of it. Horrible experience. They just sat my car there all day and didn't do anything to it, just lied to me.

I had a persistent low battery warning…

I had a persistent low battery warning in my car and an MOT due in just a week, so I was starting to feel the pressure, especially as I was struggling to find a weekend booking before leaving London.
I decided to take my car in for a free battery check at 8:30am, and that’s where Maryam went above and beyond. Despite being fully booked, she kindly agreed to fit in my MOT as well, which was a huge relief.
Not only was the issue with the battery resolved (no more warnings!), but my car also passed its MOT. I can now travel with complete peace of mind.
Fantastic service from Maryam, professional, accommodating, and genuinely helpful. Highly recommended!

I’m extremely disappointed with my…

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this garage. I paid for what was advertised as a full major service (£360), expecting all the usual work to be carried out properly and professionally. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

After collecting my car, I noticed the oil life message had not been reset, which immediately raised concerns. Because of this, I decided to check things myself—and I’m glad I did. Upon inspection, it became clear that both the engine oil (Checked by mechanic) and the coolant (one of the reasons I booked in the service as I noticed this was very low when I was replacing windscreen washer fluid) had not been replaced at all, despite these being basic components of any major service.

It’s very concerning to think I paid for work that simply wasn’t done. This isn’t just about poor service; it’s about trust and honesty. Customers rely on garages to carry out essential maintenance properly, and in this case, that trust has been completely undermined.

I also paid for the Fuel Efficiency Pack but I'm doubt this was looked at either.

I would strongly advise others to double-check any work done here, as my experience suggests that you may not be getting what you pay for.

DONT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE

i booked a major service for my car ,this was suppose to carry out a through check of my car, when i got my service report there were no observations/recommendations given, when i brought the car home the windscreen was cracked, when i raised this they claimed that the crack was there already?? If that was the case shouldnt it have come up on my service report, they denied any wrong doing and were completely dismissive , please dont use this centre there are plenty of other places

Be wary of the hard sell - very expensive

I took a slow puncture a couple of days before a big journey to central Scotland and luckily National was one of the few tyre providers that could change it the following day. Obviously had to pay a premium @ £149. When I arrived the hard sell started on tyre insurance but told them that tyre didn't justify the cost of the premium. "Do you even know what tyre insurance actually is?" I replied that I'll ask for tyre insurance if I really need it ... and I don't. 10 minutes later they said the thread on two of my other tyres were too low and illegal and they could change them while I was there. I told them I couldn't pay £450 for 3 tyres and that I will have them checked on my MoT later that day - they said it wouldn't pass the MoT. So I got the slow-puncture tyre changed, got my MoT from my mechanic and he said the tyres weren't that bad, he passed my MoT but for peace of mind to go to a tyre specialist on Kent Street who provided the same tyres as the one I got changed that morning. I went immediately and got them changed - 2 spanking new tyres for only £60 each. National has recently been taken over by Halfords so expect to pay Halford-type prices.
