Don't waste your money

I made the mistake of buying three of these.

D3 in July 2017
D450 in July 2019
D750 in December 2019

The first one (D3) broke after 30 months, so it's out of warranty. I had to replace the motor for the lira sensor, which was pretty easy and as it's such a common issue parts were easy to source and there are replacement guides on YouTube.

My D750 failed after nine months. The brush motor stopped working so it went back for repair and after a month of waiting I received a brand new one. That worked for less than two months!
They're now saying it's out of warranty but I could send it back and they may repair it for free on a case by case basis. This means I have to take the risk that I'll be charged for repair, which obviously I'm not prepared to do.

On the web chat I was informed that Neato products are not expected to last more than a few years!

When they work, they're pretty good but reliability is shocking.

Good when it Works.... always disconnects from WIFI

I am overall happy with my D3 Connected performance. However, from the day I bought it, continual problems with WIFI connecting properly.
Customer support is TERRIBLE... they send you links and quite frankly feel they have no idea what they are doing. Always reticent to move the issue upwards. One girl said they won't tell you anything different than what I did. arrogant as heck...
If it wasn't for all the WIFI problems I have encountered would give it a good rating. Unfortunately, I need something a bit more reliable

Lots of promise - badly built / unreliable. AVOID

The Botvac had lots of promise however failed after two years. It was replaced and again failed after the 2 year warranty had run out. Neato are not interested in trying to rectify the problem and want £75 to simply review it. AVOID this company, go Dyson instead.

Does not last long !

Bought a Botvac in feb 2017, some troubles and luckily was still in warranty. Gone in for a repair in feb 2019, 6 months after the side while stop spinning. After 3 and half years the thing completely stop working. Had to send in for a repair and don’t know what is the cost.

Neato service was great in helping you to try to resolve via their online chat. However, if they are not able to resolve they do not follow up or reply to any further emails. This is shocking as the product was over 600 Eur.

Anyway, am not convince they have a quality product follow by a service or good repair center.

Worked less than a year and awful customer service

Got D3 as a wedding gift. Useful toy if only it works longer then one year. At one point it just stop working refusing to connect to our network. We reached customer service for help. That comunnication lasted for 3 weeks! The amount of the work they gave us to try to fix it first of all was absolutely not user friendly. Luckily my partner is a programmer so she understood what they wanted from us. Second of all it took us hours of our time to do all the things required. At the end we got a replacement, a brand new one. Honestly, it was not worth the trouble and when this one stop functioning we are not getting a new one.

Neato D7 broken, support awful

Neato D7 broken down, Neato still haven't arranged the repair 8 days (and counting) later, despite numerous promises from their support desk. Awful service for a premium product!

70% + one star ratings can’t be good

Any product which a receives 70% or more one star rating must surely set alarm bells ringing. When Neato works it’s good but the cleaner is extremely expensive and should last way beyond the 22 months ours managed to achieve. We have carried out every re-set suggested by customer services and now the only option is to send it off to Scotland to be repaired. No doubt any repair will cost an exorbitant sum ( it costs £75 for an assessment only) so are we throwing good money after bad? Very disappointed by the unreliability of this robot vac and lack of local repair centres. Not worth repairing and not worth buying.

DO NOT BUY . Customer service and access to repairs non existent. Botvac connected Worked a total of 44 hours. More expensive than a cleaner. Constantly got confused then packed in altogether . A £600 + worthless purchase, no idea how they are still trading .

Such a shame

Such a shame, my D5 was originally replaced due to a fault, the new hasn't been used that much and developed a fault, told to change the charger then the battery still didn't fix the problem as it is out of warranty its at my cost, told to get it repaired also at my cost, I would have hoped it would last more than 2 years not having used it that much. Disappointing, my other Botvac still works. Sorry to say I will be looking at an alternative robot product.

This is a pricey piece of junk

This is a pricey piece of junk. (1) It adverstises many features - and most of them don't work! (2) Constantly is stuck everywhere in the house. and I take pains to clear the whole house before I let it loose (3) It is on charge for hours and suddenly it says "I am stuck" WTH (4) Spot cleaning? forget it (5) Customer service. Contact them if you want to be abused, irritated and frustrated and left with NO solution at the end. They are the MOST arrogant customer service reps - but with a twist: they don't solve anything for all their rudeness! I would be ok if this thing worked just as advertised and got help when I needed it. Apparently that is too much to ask.
This pricey piece of junk is a scam.

Bought a D7 some months back

Bought a D7 some months back. When it cleans it's great, but it only manages to do it a couple of times per week. It looses connection (although connecting to the robot is no issue), it ignores no go zones, it tries to dock in another room where there's no dock and then happily sends you a map on where it is, and it knows exactly where it is! The software support is gone and customer service only says "Restart it, make a new map".

When it does its weekly cleaning it's very good at picking up cat hairs.

For the price, it's not worth it.

I hate the Neato vacuum

I hate the Neato vacuum! I spent considerable time researching this product before buying it because it is an expensive item. I believe I have reasonable expectations because I have had electronic vacuums, from other manufacturers, in the past. This vacuum is the most high maintenance product I have every seen, constantly getting caught up in curtains, needing emptied, brush cleaned, getting lost, needing to remap spaces, difficulty charging etc.. The vast majority of the time you are not able to vacuum because we are trouble shooting issues and trying to manage problems. I simply want to vacuum my floors! I am deeply disappointed with this item, particularly for the amount of money we paid. I have resorted to going back to my old vacuum, from another manufacturer. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! I wish I hadn't. Hey Neato....back to the drawing board PLEASE!

Neato in short: Reliability Issues and engineering flaws

It works a while then you start having trouble and it isn't getting any better. The bot is not reliable (D3 connected). If there is no improvement, my next one will not be a Neato.

Pros:
-The price is fair.

Cons:
-The default battery is too weak and must be replaced in too short a time. The high capacity replacement battery is hard to get and when one finds a seller, it is overpriced.

-Maintenance of the bot is not easy. Cleaning it is a nightmare, especially the brush, which cannot be disassembled for some reason.

You will be left on your own..

They have nice devices BUT, if you face a problem, you are on your own. Here is my story.

D5 bought in april 2019. worked "perfect" until the firmware update in june/july 2019. After that, never made a full cleaning, stopped around door steps and skipped some rooms.

Contacted Neato, was told to send to letmerepair nordic. in meanwhile I got another firmware update, no solution.

September, send it to service, I said I want software downgrade or full factory reset. Service said they have no service manual to do it, they escalated to Neato.

I asked customer service, they say they cannot do anything, it is between me and letmerepair service shop. customer service also said they have no contact with the headquarter, f.ex. development team.

Now, waiting almost 2 months, no solution, technical service is waiting for mr. neato headquarter to give instruction, so I can return to my factory default software, which works perfect.

I say, if you get this device, do not update the meaningless software, because you will have problem and it won't be solved! Read the other comments, I am not the only one, other people also complain after the firmware update.

Do not buy. Non-functional hoovers and slow customer service

I bought a Neato Botvac D85 to replace a Roomba taken by my ex. The D85 broke down, and I told Neato. They responded by suggesting I did a lot of time-consuming self fixes (like cleaning the lasers) which did not fix the problem. The D85 was then sent back for repair, but came back with a new and much more serious fault. By this time I had had no functional hoover for a month.

Neato then agreed to return the D85 as un-repairable and sent me a D6. When the D6 arrived I had been without a functional hoover for 2 months.

It turns out the D6 is meant to be operated from a smartphone app over wifi, but it never managed to connect to wifi when I tried to set it up. I therefore use it without the app, so I cannot program it or get any information about its status.

The D6 is a terrible hoover. It is very loud, but even on turbo mode it seems to have no suction. It drives noisily over areas of carpet or tile floor without actually picking up the dirt. As far as I can tell there is no actual hoover capability at all. After reporting the D6 problems to Neato about a dozen times over a month they have finally admitted the D6 is defective and I have returned it for 'repair'. Given the last repair (of my D85) returned it even more broken I do not have high hopes. I have now been without a functional hoover for 4 months.

Good:
Neato have customer service by phone, email and chat;
the D85 worked for a while;
Neato attempted to repair the D85;
Neato sent a D6 as a replacement for the broken D85;
they have sent the broken D6 for repair.

Bad:
the D85 broke down;
the repair made the D85 worse;
the D6 failed to vacuum up anything when new, straight from the box;
customer service responses are very slow, hence I have had no hoover for 4 months.

Based on my experience, I would say do not buy Neato products. I recommend buying a Roomba instead. I wish I had done that, and thereby saved myself about 6 hours of chasing Neato customer service for 4 months and still I have no functional hoover.

Neato only 7 months old and already broke down twice!

Have had my Neato D5 for 7 months and it has for THE SECOND TIME broken down and has to be send of for repair.

The Neato supporter on the phone made the excuse that it is a very complicated machinery - like a Boing airplane. PLEASE!

The first time the motor broke down - this time the smale side wheel is not rotating - not exactly high tech rocket science!!

Will never buy a Neato again - my old Roomba was much better!

Keeps breaking down and no repair people in CANADA - ONY 2 YEARS OLD!!!!

My Neato is only 2 years old and nothing but problems. They replaced it once and now it is out of warranty. They then said I would have to get it fixed. There is NOT ONE place in CANADA that fixes these robots. It will cost me quite a bit of money to have it repaired in the US.... a couple of hundred dollars at least. I spoke with both companies that repair these products. A 2 year old robot should not have broken down!!!!! It was only used once a week to clean our bedroom.

We were really happy with Our robot

We were really happy with Our robot. After 15 months it couldn't charge any more for some reason. W reached out to neato and - considering that you never actually talk to a person - everything went smooth. Problem was investigated (online), we received instruction on how and where to send the robot for inspection/repair and was told we would receive a brand new in stead. It cost time (3 weeks) witout the robot but no money. With a broken robot, this was super service and help from Neato.

Our robot's back ("Karma II") and all's good on the vaccuming side :-)

Nothing but problems.It worked for a few cleanings did a fair job. I called & talked to someone from Ireland You have to listen very carefully because of their accent. Did NOT find it's way to the charge base.I could not change the language to English.I recommend a buyer purchase a robotic cleaner from a local dealer. If you have a question/problem walk into the store and talk to the sales person face to face not someone that is 2000miles away and doesn't speak correctly and show you in person what to do.
