DO NOT GO TO THE CAFE!!! Newton le willows

I have been going to newbank garden service for many years and was absolutely appalled how myself and my mother were treated by staff in the cafe! My mother who is elderly and unable to walk or stand for long periods was unable to get a seat while I was in the queue for the cafe or so I thought! They have changed the rules in the cafe I cannot keep up! Apparently the queue I was in was to find a table and then I would have to queue up again for food and drinks! I left the queue and went to speak to my mother we both agreed to leave the cafe. As we were leaving a very rude male member of staff shouted “have you been seated!” to which I replied “No” to me utter amazement he then said at the top of his voice “you can’t push in!” I politely replied and said “we are leaving” and headed for the exit the man turned his back on us and never apologised for his rudeness. It was clear that he was getting more and more flustered as the cafe was extremely busy but think that many other people must have left and witnessed what happened. It was extremely upsetting as my mum had been spoken to very rudely as well and we were both looking forward to enjoying lunch. The staff have absolutely no customer service whatsoever and is poorly managed. This experience has made us not want to visit the garden centre ever again. I have written written a complaint which was sent via email to newbank and no reply again no customer service!!!

Awful treatment of in the cafe

Awful treatment in the cafe - not helpful and in fact they create barriers so that things do not run smoothly. Extremely poor treatment of grand parents and parents with young children. So much so that we couldn't get a jug of water to warm a ready prepared baby bottle. My daughter had to sit in the centre of the cafe and breast feed her baby ( who by this stage was crying) .We left with out eating because the staff expected us to queue with our toddler and baby and we were not allowed to settle the children first. Not child friendly at all. Would not visit again.

Appalled - Disgusting treatment & customer service

I am absolutely appalled at the shocking customer services from Newbank Garden Centre. I purchased very expensive garden furniture from them in August 2024. It arrived damaged. It is now Feb 25 and I've called them, e-mailed them 9 times to hasten my replacements or refund and they simply ignore me. I got an initial offer of £100 refund (for a £2000 set), which had multiple scratches, discolouration and a chip in the glass top table, but since I declined miniscule 5% refund offer, they simply ignore my e-mails. Disgusting customer service both in the delivery and the attempts to resolve my complaint.

Order Cancelled Without Explanation or Apology

I placed an order online for two small items that were stated to be in stock for despatch in 48 hours and, subsequently, I received an email confirming that the garden centre was processing the order and would let me know when the goods had been despatched. I made full payment, by PayPal, at the time of ordering, which was 5 January 2025.
The next day, I received a further email to notify me of a partial refund, though the amount stated was the full order value. No explanation, no apology - it appeared that they were cancelling the order but clearly could not be bothered to fulfil any reasonable expectations of customer service by letting me know what was behind their inability or unwillingness to fulfil the order.
So, whilst I did receive a refund via PayPal, that does not excuse such appalling service from the garden centre.
Will I consider them for any future purchases? I think not!

Newton the willows cafe

My husband & I went before Xmas to purchase some Xmas lights . We went to the cafe to purchase a hot chocolate there were about 3 people in front of me also ordering drinks & four people behind me . The staff prepping the drinks were messing around giggling & just stood telling one & other story’s instead of making drinks I watched this for about 10mins getting more & more frustrated the people behind me also . I finally got served when the supervisor/ manager went passed me I said “ could you speak to your staff please about there conduct when customers are wanting / waiting to be served “ , she looked me up & down saying “ there just doing there job “ to which I said “ but that’s the point there not “. Again with a look of sheer contempt & frowning at me said “ alright “ I told her that her attitude was awful & she needed to get some training herself . I could have put her attitude down to inexperience but she must have been in her 50s . Surely if a person is put in that responsible job role they should be better at communicating than that not to mention training the staff to a good standard . I was really cross & to be honest it spoilt our visit we will not go again 👎

Needs updating!

Needs updating!
The cafe area had a bad smell of damp in it, the tables that were free still had dirty crockery and needed wiping down, customers were having to take the crockery back to the staff. Cappuccinos were mediocre at the best, and at £3.50 were far from a decent drink. This centre needs updating, it felt shabby which is not like other Newbanks we have visited.

Bought a reclining seat set

Bought a reclining seat set, took weeks to deliver, no response to emails, had to phone and was told bolt pack was missing. Delivered a few weeks later and bolt pack was still missing. Still emailing and phoning trying to resolve.

Communication is terrible.

Not a happy customer

Not a happy customer. I bought a Supremo Reclining Bistro Set for £499 plus £25 delivery on 2nd April. It was delivered on 23rd. All sounds good. BUT. No one told me that the table was self assembly and as a senior citizen its very challenging. I tried for a couple of hours and have had to pause to try again over the next few days. I have raised a complaint and I have one of their loyalty cards, astoundingly on their site it says Its free delivery for orders over £75. Doesn't make sense or vfm for me as a customer. Not happy.

Restaurant is good though

Garden Centres for drinks “Latte”.

Have been visiting Garden Centres for last couple of years mainly somewhere to take my mother out whose in a wheel chair.
Been Bents, High Leigh and Newbank mostly as it’s closer for me.
Went yesterday with my husband and I always order a Latte.
Male person never seen before served me.
Verbally insisted I pay before he did anything and not impressed with the frothing of the Latte when I got back to the table with the tray.
I’m normally one who will complain and take things back but I let this ride.
I should have took a picture of the “Latte” as it looked like a coffee with skimmed milk.
Iv got a coffee machine at home and can froth my milk but this person who served me either wasn’t bothered about the quality of my drink, or needs more practice.
So Newbank, if I get another “milky coffee” again instead of my “Latte” don’t mind me if I complain and bring it back.
Update:
Im not buying the latte from here again - its appalling.

Terrible customer service

I placed an order with this company and once it had arrived, I noticed that some of the items were damaged. I took photos and emailed the company straight away as there wasn’t any other option of getting in touch and didn’t hear back from them. A few days later I resent the email and again after not hearing back, I went on their contact us section and filled in an enquiry form explaining the situation again and mentioning that I’ve already sent two previous emails. Three communications have been ignored and I’ve been left with damaged items. This is the first and last time I will use this company also as the delivery costs were expensive to start with and a few items from my order were cancelled prior to dispatch even though they were in stock when I placed the order. Not good customer service at all.

Terrible service in the Cafe.

The service at the cafe in the Nice Garden Centre was disappointing. Despite the advertised breakfast serving time until 11:15, we were refused breakfast service at 10:55, even though there were only two people left in the queue and we wanted to order for seven. The stand-in manager refused to take our order, despite us being well within the time frame. Our complaint was met with indifference, and the manager showed no concern. As a result, we decided not to eat and left the Garden Centre. This negative experience not only cost the Garden Centre seven potential breakfast orders, but also lost them seven potential shoppers for Christmas goods. In the future, we will choose to visit Bents instead.

Garden Water feature…

I purchased a Garden Water feature but having placed it in the garden I realised it was not working correctly.
I contacted Newbank Garden centre (Newton le willlows)
Kerry & colleagues quickly dealt with my situation & came up with a very satisfactory response. Much better than I was expecting.
I want to say Thankyou to them for the help & Great Customer service I received from them

Great place

Just read some of the reviews on here - must say not one of them put me off visiting there again.

We go to the Newton Le Willows Branch, little bit further than going to Bents, but so much better.

Cheaper for eating, lovely cake display, extremely clean, as for the staff faultless, great customer service skills, daughter had Vegan Breakfast, bet Bents hands down, I had toast with egg and bacon, couldnt finish it, pot of tea and fizzy water £16.00 - food was hot, cooked well, tea was hot, next time, I will be having the childs brekky too much for me. Great sale in there today, not one member of staff was rude, believe me if they had been, I would post on here, all times visited always helpful. Great selection of plants, great prices as well.

Newbanks poor customer service

Bought a Barcelona furniture set in 2020. Delivered in August. When we took the cover off in May this year the ratten under the glass was all breaking apart and
there was a hole in the sofa part. Contacted the garden centre and Josh said he would contact the manufacturer. He came back to say that as it was over 2 years old the company would not do anything and if we wanted to come in and discuss getting something else intimating a discount on another set. After paying £1345 just over 2 years previously we didn’t want to buy anything else from Newbank. Garden furniture should last at least 5-7 years. We sent an email to say this and it was just ignored. We then asked for the manufacturers name and Josh replied that furniture had probably declined due to the hot weather in 2022. Sorry is garden furniture not meant to be outside for use in hot weather. He was not very helpful at all and just washed his hands of the matter. We contacted the manufacturer who agreed that the furniture should not have declined in such a short period of time. They are replacing it for us. My complaint is that we are Newbanks customers and they should have dealt with the manufacturers and got the replacement. Other customers may not have followed this up and would have been left out of pocket with damaged furniture. I wrote to the manager complaining about the poor customer service and they have not even had the decency to respond. Very poor wouldn’t purchase anything from this company. Still waiting for my response.

Faulty Milano swing seat parts - no response from

Newbank Garden Centre Bury - Purchased a Milano swing seat, Further issues - main frame seems very sturdy. Canopy & 2 screw covers missing. Contacted the company who were very proactive & responsive (which I have experienced previously also- top marks for that). Unfortunately the canopy frame connectors to the main frame are really flimsy & a slight breeze repeatedly caused the canopy to unclip & come off. The whole purpose of purchasing a swing seat with canopy was to ensure we had the required shade. We were unable to use the swing seat due to this fault.
I have again contacted customer services & hope they will be forthcoming in resolving this issue.I did not initially receive an acknowledgment of my email & resent to request they look into the matter, which was quite disappointing, however Josh then quickly responded & advised he wasn't in the office to respond initially. He then contacted the drivers/delivery lads who very kindly called up to replace the faulty parts the same day. They were extremely helpful, reactive & informative.
I have to say once again top marks for customer service both at the office & on site. Great company to buy from as issues did get resolved.
Thanks to all concerned who helped resolve this issue in a timely manner.
Guys went over & above once again
Unfortunately a slight breeze & rain lifted the canopy again into a different position & therefore the teeth & cogs are again no use - they did replace the frame & screws the first time but this is obviously a fault of the product.
I emailed to request either a modification to resolve the problem once & for all or requested a full refund. Josh responded promptly! the customer service continues to be superb! We would definitely purchase from this company again simply due to the fact that you actually talk to 'real people' who not only help but are very courteous & tried to resolve the issue very quickly followed by a no quibbles money back.
Thank you so much

Amazing staff, quality goods.

We purchased an outdoor furniture set. The staff we dealt with in the Halifax branch and the Bury branch were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. There was one small issue with the furniture when we got it home but it was rectified quickly and was absolutely hassle free. Highly recommend this place. And a big thank you to the member of staff in the bury branch that helped me squeeze everything into my van when I had just about given up.
