Didn't speak english

My family and i enjoyed the bus tour. But the last bus guide we had didn't really speak english. (If he barely spoke english he would say the words... new york new york and in america.) And he would play music from his iphone. Never gave any information about buildings or parts of the city.

A curate's egg if you sign up for too much.

I signed up for the 3-day freestyle for a 5-day stay. Included with this was 72 hour access to the Downtown Loop (and Brooklyn Tour), the Uptown Loop (and Bronx Tour), the Night tour, the twilight cruise, the on-off water taxi, 2 Via Taxi rides and an airport transfer to the airport. For a newcomer to New York finding the stops isn't easy and the guide maps are horrible. By the end of day one we hadn't used any of these. On days two and three we were more familiar with the NY grid system and despite some lengthy walks to the various stops we were well into the tour bus system. I found it to be a fun experience and the guides were informative and amusing.
The 7 attractions chosen were as follows; Circle Line Full New York Cruise. We had a warm, sunny day for this and it was terrific. Even saw a hump-back whale in the East River. I would urge caution about going anywhere on the river on clod or windy days.
We chose 3 towers- Empire State, ToT Rock and One world Tower- all pretty amazing but would choose One world Tower observatory above the others if restricted. Even so I went up the Empire State twice as were almost next door to it in the Hampton Inn.
I was going to use a pass on the Natural History Museum but the teller said to just provide a donation and save the pass for something more expensive. Last pass was used on Madame Tussaud's.
Obviously did a fair selection of other New York sights outside of the Gray Line Pass.
Overall a pleasant experience if not for being an exhausting schedule trying to fit the 3 day free style into 5 days

lost in nyc

took family to see sights of the BIG APPLE, long waits till bus arrived, long wait to get tickets that were purchased a month earlier. tour guard could not be heard, since i need hearing aids to hear - ear plugs to listen to guide was useless for me and two other guests. never again on gray lines.

Great overview of Manhattan

Comfortable ship, lots of room, WONDERFUL tour guide. He provided not only a contemporary overview, but wove in a lot of historical information. Really liked the tour!!!

Good.

It was nice. Affordable price. Only hiccups is that buses take a while to get to the stop and not everyone was willing to help.

lots of improvements needed

accept etickets on smartphones rather than printouts.

get better transparent panels on the upper deck of the bus. most of them have lots of cracks and scratches.

provide more calrity on the routes that passengers have purchased tickets for.

need to introduce better digital experiences in bus for customers.

Awful and Rude Tour guide

On this occasion I have to give an opinion, I don't usually, majority of the times I'm happy with the tours. Last year we had a brilliant tour guide for the downtown tour.

This year however was a completely different story, the lady that was the tour guide for our uptown tour was, well she was just completely rude and very unprofessional. Hitting the back of my wifes chair with the her microphone was the one that did it for me, the reason for this was that our 2 year old was making a little noise and she could concentrate on what she was saying. There were other things that she did but it was just a very bad experience on this particular tour.

David, gosh. That does sound awful and rude! Do you remember the name of your tour guide or any details so that we can address this issue at its root? That would really help. That behavior is completely uncharacteristic of our tour guides, who are usually knowledgeable, entertaining, and courteous. We're relieved to know that you know that, too, as you mention in your comment what a great time you had last year with us. We hope you'll give us another go when you return so we can make it 2 out of 3. See you soon, David!

MISSED 3/4 OF TOUR

Very frustrated with our experience. The buses were running extremely behind to the point that we had to take a taxi and an uber to certain places. There were 2 other tour companies whose buses were running on time. We waited over 45 minutes once, over 30 another and then an hour and a half!! Once we finally got a bus after the hour and a half we had missed the Bronx, Uptown and Brooklyn tours and only got the downtown tour. Add to that, they changed the route some so we didn't even get to see everything on the tour. We would call the company and ask about the bus and kept being told to wait 20 mire minutes. Overall I paid $210 for 3 people to take then entire city tour and only got to see one part of it and it was incomplete. At 6pm the driver told us the tour was over and had us get off even if we didn't get to take the full circle. I feel I wasted my money and am very upset as this was my parents' first trip and they were so excited to see the city.

Great way to see NYC

This was a great tour to see everything and then back track for those places you want to explore. I would say we had great tour guides except one and he was just very matter of fact and "sarcastic" humor which didn't seem appropriate.

Highly recommended

My friend and I did the 72 hour New York City tour. We had 3 great tour guides all with good sense of humour. We learned a lot of interesting history and helpful information about the city. Great way to see NY in a short time we were there for 4 days. Our favourite was the night time tour. We also did the ferry tour, wonderful too, and also the downtown and uptown tour.

Good combo tour at a good price

We booked the Combo tour, inclusive of Hop on hop off bus and ferry, Empire state and 911 tribute that was on offer at half price.
The bus was slow at times, but expected in NYC. The ferry was great and no problems with the add-ons. Well worth the money.

Tour and tour guides are pretty good. though the frequency of buses is pretty low compared to other such tours.
Would prefer other tours next time if i ever have to do it again just because of that reason.

Great deal for all of the sites

We purchased the 3 "pack" tour for 4 of us. Unfortunately we ran out of time, so we were only able to go to 2 of the attractions. Both were amazing though (Top of the Rock and Empire State Building). That being said... We did do the hop on hop off bus both days. It was ok, plus we learned a few new things (even those in our group that have been to NYC multiple times). The fact that it was included with our package at no additional cost was nice. Two more things included in the cost (that we didn't have time to do) were a comedy club night and Ripley's. The last "freebie" that was included in the package was the hop on hop off ferry ride. We ended up taking this during the last run of the day on Saturday (just before sunset). Oh my gosh! Best part of our sighting by far! Our guide was amazing, the sites were amazing (no need to do Statue of Liberty if you don't care to get off the boat - our driver made sure both sides of the ferry got a nice view for photos).

Overall, great purchase for a good price. Oh and, we did purchase online so had to go to the office to pickup our tickets. Very friendly gal helped us.

Bottom line, it's worth the $$. Wish we were there for 3 days to enjoy all that was included. Also, purchased online, through Ebates, so getting a bit of money back. 😁
