From first contact with Julija , to the final drop off at the airport, the whole process was fantastic. Every person involved is very attentive from administration, logistics and the medical staff with nothing being too much trouble ensuring that your stay goes as smooth as possible. The clinic is spottily clean and as good as a private facility in the UK. Bloods taken on the day of arrival  with a video meeting with the surgeon a few days ahead of surgery date. Good aftercare support  being discharged with everything needed until your are able to return home with Julija checking in constantly after discharge from the clinic and once returning home plus I have had contact with the surgeon directly and with the dietician since being back in the UK. The Bariatric IQ phone app is absolutely great in helping through the post surgery diet plan then track and manage a balanced  diet daily once back on solid foods ensuring you get all the nutrients and calories needed. From someone that has a gastric band, converted to a gastric sleeve, both via self pay in the UK,  now converted to a gastric bypass with a hiatus hernia repair I would highly recommend NordBariatric as I could not fault them at any point of the process from the very start July  to now in November 14 weeks after surgery. 

From first enquiry to finish Nords have been outstanding had gastric sleeve surgery and it’s an unbelievable service from Julija in administration answering all my questions to the staff at the clinic and the surgeon are outstanding the level of care is on another level and nothing is left to chance pick up from airport and to and from the clinic to your accommodation and back the airport to go home I personally cannot thank them enough for the treatment I received and am already considering going back for orthopaedic surgery in the near future

When i decided to have bariatric surgery, I looked at all my options for Ireland as I knew I would find it hard to go abroad. When this was not feasible for me I started researching several different countries. Nords kept coming up Trumps. For my own reasons I didnt want to travel to Turkey and when I researched Dr Maleckas with his years of Bariatric surgery I decided to get some more information. I went down a deep dive of Facebook and whatsap groups along with research papers and then bit the bullet and contacted Nords. I also contacted several other bariatric clinics but these are the ones I felt no pressure with.

The professionalism I have received from start to finish has been second to none. From first contact to going through medical questionnaires, to transparency with having the chance to meet the surgeon in Dublin prior to flying. No question for me was unanswered and I asked a lot. Anyone due for surgery also got added to a whatsap group and the peer support in this has been invaluable.
I arrived at the clinic and preop went smoothly. Met with the surgeon and he was so nice answered any questions I had and he popped by the day after surgery to check in. I met lots of fellow travellers who had previously had surgery with nords. They had nothing but good things to say about their previous experiences.
The care we received in hospital was second to none and they were very efficient. All the staff spoke English so there was no language barrier or worry about the care you were receiving. Pain killers were topped up and yiu were encouraged to move. The gas pain those first 2 days was rough but every day there were improvements.
Even when checked out of hospital after 2 nights nords were in touch. The collections from accommodation to the clinic were a fantastic bonus and the drivers were so careful on speed bumps too post surgery

I cannot say a bad word about ky experience with nords which partly surprised me as I am very particular. I did find it tough being away from family but that was due to normal concerns re anaesthetic so I was thrilled to be home. I have continued to hear from nords and check in on things. I have availability of dietician for 5 years and all medical noted were given to me for my gp. I will reach out to my gp for bloods and link in with a psychologist just to get me through this next part of my journey but hand on heart I would highly recommend Nords

I was very nervous before I got there but as soon as I entered the clinic I knew I was in good hands and that was that.

I stayed close to the pedestrian street in kaunas and was glad I did just to be able to nip out for a few supplies and get a few walks in

I had a hernia and muscle repair surgery on 10 October 2025 with Dr Dauksa and I can’t shout it loud enough about how well everything has gone. Dr Dauksa’s skills are amazing and my recovery is going so very well. The Clinic is amazing and very clean. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Not to forget my representative Julija who was fantastic with communication and her responses were so quick and helpful. Nords you rock!! Thank you again ❤️

From my first message with Julija to my surgery with Dr. Maleckas, every step of the journey was handled with such compassion and expertise. Any questions or concerns I had were answered quickly and clearly, always putting my mind at ease. The level of care they provide is truly second to none. From my first enquiry to my operation in April this has been a truely amazing experience. The team at Nords Julija on admin enquiry to Mr Maleckas my Surgeon went above snd beyond to make my surgery a sucess. And what a sucess it is. My gastric sleeve was problem free...6 wks of a learning journey with food...95 lbs lost in 6 mths...my life forever chqnged...my orthopaedic surgery now possible at Nords orthopaedic ..heading there tomorrow. You get first class treatment from pickbup at the airport. The wonderful staff al speak English. The clinic is pristine. There expertise unsurpassed. Dont think about it...do it..

Went to Kaunas from the UK for hernia surgery. Nord where first-class in every way. I'd have complete confidence in recommending them as trustworthy and highly professional.

Fantastic clinic. From the second I made contact until weeks after surgery my representative Julija has been amazing. Everything was so smooth from picking a date to paying deposits. They do this multiple times a day so know everything inside out and guide you with clear and precise instructions each step of the way. I was just tasked (but assisted by Julija) with booking my flights and accommodation and getting to the airport…that was it. All other organizing was done by the logistics team at Nords.

Upon arrival in Kanuas I was welcomed by drivers with Nords signs. Brought straight to the clinic and paperwork/payment completed. Met with nurse for pre-op tests. The clinic is immaculate and all the staff are very friendly, helpful and have great English.

Surgery day comes and again, everything ran perfectly smooth. My private room had dressing gown, surgery gown, slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste. All I needed was a nightdress for after surgery, charger and wipes.

Nurses, again were amazing. Encouraging and supportive. Surgeon came to see me after, as well as dietitian and others.

Cross border directive forms printed off for me and filled in, along with all other information I needed for my application.

I’m only a few weeks out from my bariatric surgery but I already look forward to going back to Nords for some weight related skin removal surgery.

Overall, Nords has been amazing. They took the stress out of everything for me. Everyone was so professional, friendly and had great English.

From the very start of my enquiry through Julija she has been fantastic. From coordinating dates, accommodation appointments to coincide with my wife’s surgery. This was a very stress free process.
I was collected from apartment for my consultation and met Mr Dauksa who was very friendly, and ensured that I understood and was happy with the surgery he was planning on doing.
As I was getting a hernia repair, NHS in Scotland would not do this due to being classed as cosmetic surgery.
On arrival for surgery, I was extremely nervous as I had never had any surgery before but all the nurses were amazing and so helpful and took great care of me.
The surgery was first class and after staying 1 night in hospital I was taken back to my apartment. Follow up appointment was scheduled and again picked up and taken back. 5/5⭐️ for everything from start to finish.

So, a huge thank you to Julija, Dr Dauksa and all the team for making this a very smooth and easy process. Highly recommended.

Recently had Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder Surgery) and the whole process was first class, can't speak high enough of the company and all the people that work there.
Professional and friendly from the very first email, the whole process was smooth, first rate and everyone at the Clinic speaks excellent English so there were no language barriers.

They arranged transport to and from the Airport, all visits to the clinic and were on hand to answer any questions I had before and after surgery.

I had my pre surgery checks on Monday - Blood Pressure, Bloods and ECG, filled out the paper work and Tuesday afternoon had the surgery.
My surgery time was 4pm - I had a consultation with the Anaesthetist and Doctor before hand - everything was explained in detail and I was waking up around 7.30pm
I spent the first night in the Clinic - rooms are very clean, theres a TV with plenty of channels and staff/nurses on call 24 hours a day if needed.
The following day my bandages were cleaned and changed - discharged and spent the next few days healing at my Air BnB

I was given Painkillers and the normal 'rest and recover' and a final check up on Friday. Again, all transport to and from the clinic was provided.
They send you a message well in advance so you always know when they are picking you up.

All went very smooth and according to plan - no delays, everything happened exactly when it was supposed to.

I flew back to Bristol the the following Sunday so my whole stay in Kaunas was 1 week.

Comparing to any Hospital or Doctor experience I've had in the UK, this was Night and Day - all the doctors, nurses and anyone I had an interaction with was excellent, professional and I would not think twice about going back if I needed any surgery in the future.
There were no long waiting periods - things were done on time, every time.
The cost of my surgery was 2.6K Euro - I'm now almost 3 weeks removed and well on the way to recovery

From day 1 of being in contact with Julija through email, everything went smoothly. Julija would reply to my questions promptly and I felt very at ease with organising my trip to Kaunas for my bariatric surgery. The staff at Nordsclinic were fantastic and made me very at ease from my first visit at the clinic for the pre op tests right through to the next day for my operation. Professor Mackales is a lovely man , and I would recommend anyone thinking about having bariatric surgery to go with him as he is a genius at what he does. After the surgery I stayed in the clinic for 2 nights, where I got the best of care from wonderful nurses. Once I left the hospital I was able to walk around the beautiful city of Kaunas and felt great. It's been over 2 weeks since my surgery and I am feeling really great, and looking forward to having a better quality of life as my weight loss progresses, all thanks to the fantastic Professor and staff at Nords clinic, and not forgetting everyone working hard in the background like Julija and all the lads who drove us to and from our hotels to the clinic each day.

Top drawer experience from start to finish . ( Laparoscopic inguinal hernia ). Looked at several countries but this scored highest on my check list .Spoke to many fellow patients in the shuttles from airport and to and from the clinic . Patients spoken to from - Ukraine , Lithuania , Canada ( 2 ) , Poland , Ireland ( North and Republic ) and many from U K . All U K ones reported refusal to operate or long waiting lists ( N H S ) and cost of private there . Whole thing worked like a Swiss watch and is up there with U S standards ( have lived there ) . I stayed an extra few days as Kaunas is a very nice City . I look back on the whole experience as a vacation with an op thrown in . Julija , their liaison officer is fantastic -perfect English ( which is very common in Clinic and Kaunas in general ) . For some reason , this site will not allow me to enter my surgeon’s name as a window comes up “ links not allowed - it’s just a name guys but his initials are A D if you want to look him up on their list of specialists . He did a great job . Highly recommended clinic ( by me and many others on this site .) They do many other procedures - check the list .

My medical requirements and outcome clearly explained by the professor during consultation. This reassured me that I am in the safe hands.

I would prefer visiting times to be flexible however staff were friendly, helpful and flexible. Overall experience was great.

5 /5 stars overall🌟 to Nordbariatric clinic 🙋🏻‍♀️ I had my gastric sleeve on the 9th August 2025 with Dr. Almantas Malecka such a lovely man, All staff members I in counter were friendly, extremely kind always smile , very professional and willing to help never was a problem. Communication was perfect, I felt safe at all times and always at comfort if I had a question I’d get a straight response and the clinic speaks for itself so spotless clean ,nords look after me spectacular very happy I chosen their clinic, I’m 2 weeks 3 days post op and I’m already down 8.8kg I’m extremely over the moon best decision I made thank god , all medication was given to me perfect and was nurses explained step-by-step what to do medication even the nutrition dietician was incredible. All I can say is overall 100% best Clinic to go to and if you’re coming from Ireland or.. I’m sure you can claim back from the HSE which Dr. Maleckas was also amazing filling out forms giving receipts . Also I want to thank Julia she’s amazing getting back in emails and giving advise and fast responding. And 5 years after surgery guarantee you get to talk to your dietician about anything on your diet. Lol sorry I could go on

How I came to make my decision was my friend Emma had the same surgery with Nordbariatric. I was so nervous going to Lithuania for the operation but from the encounter on line with the rep Julija to meeting the team of nurses in the clinic had been amazing. The care before and after has been nothing but outstanding. I would highly recommend Nordbariactric for this kind of surgery because you’re treated so very well

After encountering significant challenges with the NHS regarding my umbilical hernia, I made the decision to seek alternative options rather than waiting for the condition to become life-threatening. My GP recommended exploring private care, which led me to consider treatment options outside the UK. Given the high costs associated with private surgery domestically and the difficulties in identifying reputable professionals, I focused my search on Turkey and Lithuania.

Ultimately, I selected the Nordbariatric Clinic in Lithuania, recognised for its esteemed medical professionals. The initial process was efficient; I submitted photographs of my hernia and was quickly introduced to Dr. Dauksa, a highly regarded surgeon with a strong reputation for his innovative techniques.

Upon my arrival in Lithuania, I received a warm welcome at the airport, and the level of service throughout my stay was exemplary. During my consultation with Dr. Dauksa, I communicated my dedication to heavy lifting as a bodybuilder. His reassuring response—"Okay, no problem"—instilled confidence in me regarding my treatment plan.

In stark contrast to my prior experiences with the NHS, I found the support and understanding I received at Nordbariatric Clinic to be exceptional. Following a thorough examination, I was prepared for surgery, and I awoke to the reassuring news that the procedure had been successful. Dr. Dauksa’s visit afterwards provided further confirmation that my surgery had gone according to plan.

While I experienced some discomfort initially, I was able to walk the following day, ready to focus on my recovery. After four days, during which all my questions were addressed, I felt confident in my readiness to return to the UK.

Now, three weeks post-surgery, I am pleased to report that I feel strong and motivated. I am gradually reintroducing cardio exercises into my routine, confident that I can fully resume my previous activities—this time without the burden of a hernia. I am genuinely grateful to the entire staff at Nordbariatric Clinic and wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone seeking high-quality and compassionate medical care, regardless of their country of origin.

From start to finish everything was organised and went like clockwork the staff are all amazing they really look after you the clinic is spotless clean and everyone makes you feel at ease

From first enquiry to current time (2 weeks post-op Gastric Sleeve) Nord have been fantastic. Talking and guiding me through every step of the process. The staff are fantastic and speak brilliant English, the clinic was spotless, transport to and from the clinic for appointments etc were all taken care of.
These guys are the premium stars in their field.

Great Experience

I stared my journey with Nordbariatric clinic in August 2023. Here I made my very first enquiry and filled out my medical questionnaire. From the very start I got a good feeling about Nordbariatric. The medical form looked for what I felt was a good detailed level of information that would be required to make an informed decision. I was contacted by my rep Rúta who little did I know at the time was going to be a major support for me along my journey. Rúta provided me with all the necessary information at the time. There was never any pressure and no mention of money. I had contacted other clinics before Nordbariatric and the medical questions were very basic and I was immediately told how I could pay.

It took a while for me to make a decision, as like alot of people I was going to give dieting one more try.
April 2024 I finally made my decision that this was what I wanted and once again I contacted the clinic. Again I filled out another medical questionnaire as some time had passed since my last one was completed.
All through this process Rúta kept in touch and kept me up to date. I was approved for surgery (this was based on the information I had provided on the medical questionnaire) and I was booked in for the 4th of July 2024.
Again Rúta helped me with accommodation and getting me ready for my trip.
Payment was an easy process I paid my deposit and closer to the time I paid the balance. I did this by bank transfer.
Once I arrived in Kaunas I was collected by the Transport team who for every trip I needed were there.

I had my pre ops on July 3rd and I was all set for my Surgery July 4th.
However my pre op showed that my A1c was not controlled and as a result surgery was not going to be safe as the risk of complications after surgery while healing would be too great. I have type 2 diabetes which I considered to be controlled but looking back I had been ignoring it for a long time and it was not controlled. My advice to anyone going for this surgery would be to have your full pre op bloods done and sent to Nordbariatric before your surgery. As this is the only way to see if there is something going on. I was quite upset and disappointed, however my surgeon Dr. Almantas Maleckas took the time to sit down with me and explain everything to me. He explained what I needed to do when I went back home to get my A1c under control.

All the staff were very kind and caring to me I stayed the night in the hospital in a private room, where I made arrangements to travel home the following day. Again the transportation team were on hand to take me to the airport with very little notice.
Once I returned home I worked closely with my diabetic team here and with a little hard work I got my A1c under control and into an acceptable level. I kept in touch with the team at Nordbariatric all the time. I was tested for a condition known as Cushing's disease which again delayed my return to Nordbariatric once again. I had a hospital stay an MRI and a CT all to rule out cushings disease which they did. All of my results and discharge notes were forwarded to Nordbariatric again to be reviewed. Safety has been the most important thing all along through this whole process.
Eventually in January 2025 I was able to rebook my surgery for March 28th.
This time I kept the clinic up to date and had my full bloods done and emailed them to the clinic which were approved for surgery.
Rúta again was great and helped book accommodation again and provided me with all pre surgery information that I needed. I think during the whole process there have been over 200 emails between us and she always came back quickly with a reply or an update nothing was ever too much and if she did not have the answer she went to the people who did.

This time my travel to Kaunas was much smoother I had my pre ops and met Dr. Almantas Maleckas again. We chatted again and all aspects of the surgery and recovery were discussed and I was given an opportunity to ask any questions. I also met with the anesthesiologist and what would happen before surgery was discussed.
The morning of the surgery I was collected from my hotel and brought to the clinic. I was booked in and taken to my room I met the team that would look after me and again everything that was going to happen was explained to me again and I was able to ask questions if I had any. I woke after surgery there was very little discomfort and I was taken care of by a team of great nurses.
All meds that I was given were explained to me and why I was getting them was explained.
I was discharged on 30th of March. I felt well maybe just a little tired. My experience with Nordbariatric was great.

All staff that I met were friendly, professional and willing to help nothing was a problem. Communication was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. I felt safe at all times and the clinic was so clean. I could not fault any aspect of my care.
