Would definitely NOT recommend this college, there’s no communication between staff to students apart from the very few. They kick you off courses when they feel like it, without any proper explanation as to why and put you into courses which you never signed up for. If you have no experience in the course you are applying for, then you will be told your not experienced enough to do it. They will also make fake promises to you, the best decision I ever made was to leave this college.
I have a rare condition and because sometimes I get sick, they wouldn’t let me further my education as my attendance was low due to this. I was also denied retrieving my medication from them, although all the arrangements for me to collect it was already put into place so walked out empty handed.
Just AVOID this place altogether, especially if you want your kids to have an ongoing education.

The teaching is non existent and when it does exist it is terrible.

Any grade she gets will be by the revision she had done herself.

They didn’t finish the syllabus, the teachers didn’t properly address the advanced information, they didn’t do past papers, they were so badly prepared, left in no mans land against state and public schools who were practiced to death.

One shining light on the darkness Sam Holland who came in a few weeks before the exams and gave her 2 years higher level knowledge in a month, thank you, you are better than this place, you care about your students and know your subject, get a job somewhere that cares about their students like you do

Nottingham College took money and didn’t provide an education, the lecturers don’t care, go anywhere but here

Beyond disbelief with this place, appalling isn’t even the term for this place…it’s embarrassing! It’s embarrassing that (me), as a student is telling fully trained adult staff how to do their jobs. I took an apprenticeship on with these, never have I ever witnessed such poor disorganisation, lies and bs in my life. They where so poorly disorganised that they told my employer I wasn’t turning up to sessions with the college, when I was. I had to show bus tickets as proof that I was attending the sessions. Then, I explained this to my tutor who witnessed me attend sessions and then he proceeded to lie and make excuses up with the college that I wasn’t attending sessions, I mean what the f-? They keep using Covid as an excuse for poor disorganisation and explained because of Covid and ‘the new system they where working from’ there had been an error with my attendance being logged, funny isn’t it that they mentioned this once I showed evidence of my bus tickets and got my employer to kick them up the backside, it’s clearly an excuse when my own tutor was saying I wasn’t attending…then they blamed that on ‘miscommunication’ - I mean what??? They also push these stupid agendas and slogans that have no meaning and are bizarre and pointless, and just waste your time as a learner. Glad I finished my apprenticeship and didn’t continue with my Level 3, parents be WARNED!!!

No communication with parents at all, once the course started.( Musical Theatre Course) My daughter has serious mental health issues and has received no support at all. Following a recent self harm/ attempted suicide/ hospitalisation, she was berated for her attendance. She submitted her UCAS application early but her tutor failed to submit it with the the others with no explanation or apology. In fact, I’d go so far as to say this tutor has her favourite students and the others are unimportant. We can only now hope this hasn’t affected her chances of moving in to higher education. Unacceptable. I’ve submitted an enquiry to the college. Let’s see if they reply. I won’t be holding my breath. AVOID AVOID AVOID

I've literally been taken aback. I was having issues with knowing how the system works in college for my child. The lady in the canteen Emma has been so supportive and helpful today. She didn't have to do any of this but chose to support me and point me in thr right direction and stay with me. I really appreciate her help. Thank you

Really bad communication and disorganised! My daughter failed her maths gcse last year due to covid and missing the first term as no one knew what class she was in and no one could be bothered to let her know and when she did finally find out she needed help with the work and never got it.... Only for it to happen again this year! Not knowing where her class is, when asking for help over 10 times!!! Online and in person and keep telling her to go to the same class which wasnt her class but a teachers room!! With that and a week off being actually ill to the point of coughing her guts up most nights, They boot her off the course for low attendance!! Absolute joke!! Have my daughter in tears on the phone!! Do not choose this college!

Avoid these pathetic time wasters when applying for an apprenticeship.

I’ve been trying to find apprenticeships and the experience with applying with Nottingham college was just time-wasting because when you are done with call interviews they give no response within the deadline of the apprenticeship.

Also when I did my in-person interview I asked for some feedback but they said “they will after talking to her colleagues who have contact with the employer “ but they didn't respond with valuable information for me which I have requested.

Another situation was I applied for an apprenticeship with Nottingham College was again and the apprenticeship team required me to do tests with being required if I was eligible for the apprenticeship even though I passed my English and math qualification which was pathetic and time wasting process. Eventually I did the assessments and sent to the women from the apprenticeship team and she gave no bloody response after I wasted nearly all of my day to complete the initial assessments.

I recommend avoid working with Nottingham college who love wasting people time and apply for other places who at least treat people with respect.

Really poor. From start to finish. The enrolment process was a complete joke. Had to chase and chase and chase. My son has ADHD/ASD but a huge lack of support and understanding. He needs structure and planning. Course start date changed so he missed the first lesson. Only went in 2 days a fortnight due to COVID but even that kept changing. No support the rest of the time despite knowing his condition.
The college is extremely disorganised. Was able to apply for finance assistance. Took 3 months to be approved so he got a bus pass eventually. 2 weeks before college ended the finance team finally tell him he was entitled to free drinks and food at the college canteen?!?!
He passed but clearly too much trouble for them to cope with his needs as they’ve refused to allow him to do level 3!!!
Despite him getting access to a level 3 course the year before at another site which he had to leave due to teacher strikes and teachers just not turning up to lessons. This whole college organisation is an absolute joke.

Would someone please explain where the CCTV footage off T.A staff attempting to grab my throat? You literally had it the other day called me into a private meeting room and sided with me. Now magically the footage has disappeared and you’ve dropped the case?....I’m going to the police.

On a apprenticeship had no communication from the beginning, college informed work I was not attending when I was. Since covid even less communication. Both my workplace and Parents have made official complaints and nothings changed now on second round of complaints been told they are having a meeting to see what's gone wrong. In my opinion it's lack of communication between college tutors and apprenticeship manager/asseors and workplace.
I would recommend people avoid using notts college until these issues are sorted.
Still not sure what's happening and feel completely let down by the college also due to being disabled feel under another of stress

I’ve recently left Nottingham college due to having a really poor experience. The new campus may look nice but the place is so poorly ran and underfunded. Every review I’ve read is 100% accurate and I think the majority of students I learn with also agree. There are a lot of really big concerns especially with bullying as it’s just ignored if it’s complained about. I will also mention (like another review said) that Maid Marian Way had a ridiculous amount of students taking drugs and dealing as well this is 100% true, you only have to look around the outside of the campus. I left because of the way the teaching was putting my learning behind with no real structure. Please don’t come to this college it’s a drama - filled pile of sh** where staff enjoy seeing students fight with each other and some staff join in winding up individuals more and take sides. Whilst there are some nice friendly staff the college is poorly ran and monitored both for safety and standards. One thing that really grated on me was the miss laying of my work there was no explanation as to how it happened or why, but then I was then disciplined for missing the deadline by a tutor who mislaid my work by asking if I would start the work again and complete a near on 15 page assignment that takes 4 weeks to complete in three days. Absolutely absurd but it wasn’t just once this was about three times my work went missing as did a few others in my class.

I have a lot of heart for this college as I attended before NCN and Central merged, when it really was great for what I chose to study - Music but I still saw the changes slowly come into place. It's also why I'm so generous to give 3 stars as I loved it when I was there but it would be unfair to say it is a great college anymore. Its sad to hear of staff redundancies because of business choices that so harshly effect the teaching efficiency and the loss of departments.

I have been a student at Nottingham college since September of this year and experience so far has been pretty poor. I thought I would write a review on my experience at Nottingham College and give people an opinion on whether this college is possibly right for them. There is a whole range of campuses that are run by Nottingham college, some of the campuses are a little run down compared to others. The new campus built by Nottingham college was 100% needed and the right step forward for the college in terms of resources and courses and has really improved the colleges standards and portrayal it’s a very nice modern looking campus with lots of space and a great environment. The issue isn’t so much how the college presents itself it’s really how it’s run, which will bring me on to the next part of my review. From reading most of the other reviews on Google it’s safe to safe unfortunately most of the reviews seem to relate to mine. Whilst there are a lot of good teachers at Nottingham college there’s a whole range of really poorly trained staff and staff that really have questionable intentions. The college really lacks on good management and is very poorly funded in most areas which shows a lot going into course, a lot of resources are lacking and there’s a massive amount of disorganisation from various departments. A lot of students I have found in my class have easily fallen behind because of lack of support from the teacher and poorly trained learning support staff. There has also on my course been a numerous amount of safety concerns and like one review I saw mentioned classmates just walking off anywhere and the teacher has been aware of this but hasn’t checked to see if they’re safe or if they are lost. In a few lessons various safety precautions where ignored or not followed which was encouraged by members of staff in hospitality from knives being thrown about to even things being set on fire and one student had boiling hot oil be passed to another student over an individual’s no monitoring was going on by any staff. It also seems some staff are lacking in knowledge in the industry as when students have been asking questions a lot of the answers to very simple questions weren’t known. There also seems to be a very big ignorance towards bullying as well, I’ve witnessed a lot of bullying by other students in classes towards others again when raised by individuals who where upset nothing was done or no discipline was taken especially as a few students where even making racist comments by using terms such as 'P*ki and N*gger'. I've also found the learning support to be very poorly trained and very inexperience when it's come to handling my problems with learning and no added support was put in place.

Absolute shambles! My son who has battled
Leukaemia twice and left with special needs was treated with no compassion whatsoever! In fact, they were downright cruel! I could list a catalogue of errors/complaints but I’m so over this college now my son has found a much better college to continue his electrical studies. Please don’t make the mistake we did - Avoid, avoid!!

What waste of time-enrolled on a level 3 and then a call off a very rude lady saying it should be level 2 weeks later .After explaining you have created a problem before there is a problem didn't seem to click .The student has multiple health conditions therfore attends many appointments (has a EHCP) yet was told to arrange these around college not sure what planet she was on put clearly hasn't had much experience with the NHS I think a touch of reality is much needed.............Anyway after this treatment it lead me to read reviews and this has taken us to another college with better reviews and approach to students with additional needs so cheers for that ..............:)

Used to study here i won't recommend this college, some of the staff are nice but there is so much drama over on how BTECs assignments should be handled. And if your a independent learner who's goal is to pass your GCSEs DON'T because you will be put into classrooms filled with students(kids) who are loud and immature that couldn't care less about their education.

And fighting for special support is a ******** joke, If it's learning resources like laptops or dyslexia reading software you might as well buy them yourself.

As for apprenticeships, there feedback is terrible - read feeback- there response "travel distance is 30mins" my comment is "i can drive you know"... no actual feedback is given to improving apprenticeship applications and i suggest finding better career advisers some will actually help you, but a majority will suggest links than sit down and discuss options.

My advise to young people is to pick a career that's easy to get into or take a gap year off to figure out what you want to do?. I understand it's difficult and trust me many people either ditched the course or regretted a select college course they was on.

Nottingham college is a huge JOKE.

The staff didn't care about other peoples safety. the main chef threw knives across the stations towards other people. we would only get a 10 minute break meaning half the time we wouldn't even get to eat all day long.
Learning at this campus and working with the people is a blessing since the Merger management is a mess and a lack of teaching professionalism. Feedback is lacking in some department. Nottingham college is the largest FE amagum in the UK. It simply dosn't work. Huge investment but not in teaching, poor organisation.

(The Pre-16 Homeschooled GCSE programme is brilliant: the staff couldn’t be more supportive.) However, all ten of my child’s GCSE exams were mishandled, her dyslexia remains unsupported, and her mental health is of no concern to staff. My daughters’ friend has had to leave the college due to frequent homophobic slurs that escalated to bullying that staff dismissed as ‘girls just being teenagers’.

Worst college in Nottingham period. No regards for you safety drug deals on my campus at Maid Marian way in clear view, college always stunk of weed in areas especially the toilets. Students going missing for long periods of times from lessons teachers not following up on this or really caring where they have disappeared too. I had it for a straight week where our class had no tutor for a week and the college never told us this so most of us kept turning up because staff told us just to hang around even though most of us are paying for our course and travel absolutely disgusting! Poor trained staff! coursework was taught inaccurately or not to the full detail. Liberians don’t have a clue how to reset your passwords for your students logins or how to use the printer and Reception staff are mostly rude, if you tell them your having issues they will just throw it on another staff member who can’t fix the issue or doesn’t have a clue how to solve it. Complaints team are lazy as hell, they can’t be bothered to get off their lazy backsides and they will moan about the college or other staff members too you even though your just there to solve an issue your having with the college yourself; for example I went to a Learning coach called Siberia at Maid Marian way photography block, when I was getting bullied she basically tried to downplay the situation so it wouldn’t show the college in a bad light. She went as far as saying the bullying I was getting was just banter and that I should just keep an eye on it and ask them to stop if they are basically bullying me, completely unhelpful and disinterested in helping says she will do one thing but never commits to her promises as so with other staff. Work marking was often late, not marked or not marked fully and properly, my work also got mislaid a dozen times with no apology but a forceful demand that I re do it even though I worked sometimes all night to complete my assignments. This place is a mess they don’t offer you the best education they offer you the worst. The staff aren’t even fully trained and it’s almost like being taught by just graduated uni students. Another big issue is the learning support as soon as you have to pay for supplies or help towards costs the college is quick and strict on getting as much money as possible out of you but when it comes to support for your learning difficulties they will complain that the budget is low and also they apparently along with many others in my class “lost paperwork” detailing the support I need for my learning difficulties, basically holding up my claim for 6 weeks absolutely appalling! This place only gives a damn about money they receive not your future. Your future is on the line with these clowns.

Student Review: Learning here is sometimes stress full, some of the lectures are kind but the facilities are lacking, like accessible computers, no windows for fresh air, staff cannot show posters of valuable information to students and staff drama. A lot of Lectures have been leaving from multiple campuses with students not impressed based on course work feedback and lack of professional teaching to fulfill essays. I will admit sometimes I feel like leaving the course because of department dramas and stress between the students and lectures. Many students on my course aren't impressed with standards and feedback, i doubt our complaints have been heard and corrected.
