Extremely concerning experience with Long Realty / Oasis Property Management

We are a military family living out of state and hired this company to manage and rent our home while stationed elsewhere. Because we were not physically present, clear communication, professionalism, and adherence to the contract were essential. Unfortunately, communication throughout the listing period was minimal despite repeated requests for basic updates on showings, applicant interest, and the overall status of the rental.

The situation escalated after a family member briefly checked on the vacant home and found dead insects throughout the house and visible stains in the upstairs bathroom, conditions that were never disclosed to us, despite the property actively being shown to prospective tenants.

In response, my husband sent a professional, written email outlining these factual concerns and requesting better notification if the property appeared neglected so we could address it promptly. Rather than responding constructively, the property manager abruptly removed the listing from Zillow without notice, refunded the management fee without discussion, and stated that he was “cancelling” the agreement immediately, citing the “tone” of the email as justification.

This was particularly troubling given that the written contract requires 30 days’ advance notice for termination and does not restrict owner access to the property for maintenance or upkeep, something especially important for military families managing homes remotely. When we pointed this out and requested that contractual obligations continue through the notice period, the manager attempted to condition relisting the property on us sending the refunded fee back to him, a requirement not found anywhere in the agreement.

Only after we firmly reiterated the contract terms did the listing reappear, accompanied by a vague message about keeping things “harmonious,” without any acknowledgment of the earlier removal or attempted immediate termination.

This experience demonstrated inconsistent explanations, retaliatory behavior when legitimate concerns were raised, and a willingness to disregard clear contractual obligations. I would strongly caution homeowners, especially military families and anyone managing property from out of state, to think very carefully before trusting this company with their investment.

DO NOT RENT WITH THESE LANDLORDS

DO NOT RENT WITH THESE LANDLORDS. They have no regard for their clients, and are perfectly happy to allow people to rent defunct properties with mold covering the walls.

We had constant issues with our property, and Oasis were almost always completely incompetent and unhelpful. The rent was extortionate for a third rate property, and after the tenancy ended they fabricated “removal charges” in order to glean even more cash from their tenants.

They are impossible to deal with and truly terrible.STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

Avoid Oasis Properties at All Costs – Dishonest, Rude, and Borderline Fraudulent

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Renting with Oasis Properties has been one of the most frustrating and infuriating experiences I’ve ever had.

It’s been over 18 days since my tenancy ended, and I still haven’t received my deposit back. I’ve called repeatedly, visited their office multiple times, and every single interaction with their staff has been shockingly rude, unprofessional, and completely unhelpful. They either ignore your concerns or respond with arrogance and attitude, as if you’re a nuisance for simply asking for your own money back.

To make matters worse, they tried to fabricate a story about the flat being left in poor condition – which is a complete lie. Thankfully, I took detailed videos before leaving, so I have full proof that the property was spotless and left in perfect condition. Without that evidence, I have no doubt they would’ve tried to steal my deposit entirely.

This company operates in a way that feels borderline fraudulent, and I strongly encourage anyone dealing with them to document everything, report them to the relevant housing authorities, and share your experience publicly to warn others.

DO NOT RENT WITH OASIS PROPERTIES. Their behavior is disgraceful, and their business practices are shady at best. Tenants deserve better.

Deposit Refund Dispute

Absolutely despicable. They wouldn’t give me my deposit back after they said it was being processed a month ago, and since had not replied to any emails until now, after threatening to take them to court.

They failed to protect my deposit within the first 10 days of me signing the tenancy, which means they may have to pay me back up to 3 times the deposit.

Staff are dismissive and incompetent. They did not fix any damages whilst living at their property. I managed to get a tenancy takeover after 3 months because the place stunk, was dirty, and walls were paper thin so I did not get a healthy amount of sleep.

Con artists. Please do not rent with them.

Awful company sold the property whilst we were en route to it

So we had a property we were going to see today at 10am, so we obviously got up early for it, and whilst we were on the way to the property, the agents told us it had been sold. we rang them previously to confrim the viewing but no answer. apparently they had called us at 9am ONCE, but my call log shows no calls from anyone. Appalling company and agency! Terrible terrible stuff guys, don’t book with them!

Cancel appointments without any notifications

Have spent 4 hours driving to an appointment which was cancelled without any letter, have figured it out only after arriving. Make sure to call them and ask whether they haven’t accidentally forgotten to send a cancellation letter.

Tried to enquire about a property over the phone.
Person who answered the phone could not have been less interested in speaking with me and did not even let me finish sentences before telling me the property had gone and hung up the phone! Fair enough but at least be polite!

Do not use them! I am a home owner that used Oasis…

I am a home owner that used Oasis several years ago. During that time, they were good.
Since one year I have been using them for another property that we own. Unfortunately they are such a disaster. The service that they provide is so poor. They are charging us for eveything that breaks when someone is renting the house. They left the pool heather on for a month (November) even if the house was not rented out. This gave me an electrical bill of 1750 Euro... There is so much more that they have done bad, but I think that my recommendation to not use them at all is enough.

Won’t give deposit back and ignored for months

Left uni in second year and had already rented from them for third year. I found a replacement before the tenancy started and everything got sorted.

I then asked for a refund of my deposit multiple times since June/July and it’s now December. Called them multiple times (Danielle and Oliver to name and shame them) and a dozen emails and got told the same thing that they’d “get the accounts person to do it”.

Now they’re not even responding to my emails. I emailed on Sunday 10th December that I’d contact the ombudsman if the deposit was not refunded by Friday 15th and got nothing back :).

Contacting the ombudsman on Monday so I’ll finally get my deposit back! Hooray!

Lived in one of these agents properties…

Lived in one of these agents properties in second year of university (2022-2023). The problems with these agents was endless. Didn’t have wifi for 10 days at one point which meant we could not do any university work. We then had a flood which went into the living room and basement bedroom. They said they would fix the ceiling that the flood ruined immediately, then didn’t come for 2 days and in that time the ceiling collapsed just after I had walked under it. To fix the flood the just trapped the damp wood back in the ceiling with new plaster board and painted over it. We then had rats in the house for a few weeks which they did deal with but the reason the rats got in in the first place was because there were holes in the outside of the house. The showers were mouldy in which they never fixed. Also the front door wouldn’t close at times so we had to sleep with it unlocked when it wouldn’t close. Overall the condition of the house was pretty appalling to live in- they did not provide a toaster , an indoor bin for the kitchen (like what???), a hoover, mop or any cleaning supplies. Also had leakage from the neighbours flood into the basement bedroom where my house mates belongings got soaked and her carpet was filled with bugs for days because of the damp. Very unsafe living conditions, Oasis refused to compensate her belongings. Would absolutely not recommend unless you want to experience hell for a year x

Damp, mouldy and broken house

They initially messed us around with our contact and rent payments, cancelling our contract 3 weeks before the tenancy started. The payment dates are all before student loans come in meaning we had to find almost £2k. The house was trashed, dirty, damp and broken come the start of our tenancy. Simply ripping off students because they think they can get away with it.

I would like to Thank Laura and Jamie for their help and support. I recently moved from Canberra to Brisbane and finding a rental property was such an exceptional experience they gave me a range of properties to inspect without delay and the application process was so easy! I have settled into my new home and just love the area and Brisbane

Very unhelpful and rude.

Very unhelpful and rude on the phone. A maintenance issue is outstanding for a year which they were not aware of despite there being a paper trial. Made no attempt to resolve the problem and hung up when speaking to them.

Terribly cocky attitude from the staff

Terribly cocky attitude from the staff. Rude and full of attitude.
The flat has mould and water running down the walls , it’s been reported and nothing done about it for ages. When oasis did send someone to ‘fix’ the problem they simply painted over it. Of course it came back the next day.
Everything is damp now because of the running water .
Oasis properties are abusing the fact that in this area of Leeds it’s students and they supply student flats , without any care

Absolutely Awful Business - Shouldn't Be Open

Absolutely awful business. They have refused to return my deposit even though the flat I was due to rent had become occupied. I had to adjust my work hours so I could address this in person, I also called over 5 times, with every single interaction the staff showed no sign of care. Instead they told me to email them my issue 'as a reminder' for them, all while they knew who I was and what my issue is.
Still I have not received my deposit or any correspondence from them.
Absolute trash of a company. Zero sense of peoples skills or politeness.

Stay away

Hi,
I signed a contract with Oasis for the sale of my property on 19.08.20.
Within one week of the property going on the market, I was advised that there were 68 interested parties who were being eliminated as per their financial eligibility to view the property. When I asked for an update at the end of second week I was advised to put the price down since there we no interest to view the property. When I challenged the contradiction from 68 applicants to no interest at all within a week I was not given any satisfactory explanation.
One month on having lowered the price, there has been no viewings. I do not get any updates unless I call and my calls are never returned.
Unfortunate my agreement is until 19.01.21 and I lost my faith and confidence that the house will be sold by Oasis.
