Jens is an excellent German teacher, and is the reason I’ve been able to keep up and improve my German over the last few years. He’s extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and equally as personable. The pay per lesson system suits me perfectly, as I only need to plan slightly in advance for holidays or weekends away, without any extra expense.

I've started to learn German with Jens 2 years ago as a beginner in group lessons, once a week. Jens always manage to balance grammar, texts, exercises and group discussion in a very friendly atmosphere. Thanks to Jens I have now solid base and can survive in Germany ;)

I have been attempting to learn German (unsuccessfully) over the past 3 years using several different approaches. I have attended group lessons at the Goethe-Institut-London, I have had other private tutors and attempted to use a plethora of apps. All of these approaches have yielded poor results. And then I found Jens Olesen. Jens is a highly professional and uber-qualified instructor who is a pleasure to work with. His approach is very practical and provides a solid understanding of the nuances of German grammar. I have made more progress working with Jens in the past three months than I have in the last three years. I would unreservedly recommend him for anyone who is intent on learning German.

Jens is simply excellent. We have used him for my son's GCSE and A level, and he is unwaveringly perfectionist, 100% professional and very easy to deal with. His teaching is comprehensive, covering written and spoken German and examination curricula in all detail.

Jens is an excellent teacher who uses different methods to other German courses. He focuses particularly on getting the basics right, which I found extremely helpful as it quickly gave me more confidence when speaking that I was not making a mistake. I found I made a great deal of progress with Jens and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn German or who is frustrated with slow progress in other German classes.

I had lessons with Jens exclusively over Skype for a year before moving to Germany. I had no experience whatsoever of speaking German / learning languages and decided to try lessons with Jens. Jens manages to strike a balance between pushing you but always making you feel supported and encouraged. His methods and materials are really amazing and there is a methodical structure to everything he does and a reason behind the sequencing of topics (even when you don't think there is!). Jens is always professional and moves you forward in your learning but he also has a great sense of humour, which is needed during those times when you feel you are just banging your head against a wall and will never master German. After moving to Germany and taking some intensive courses from some of the most renowned schools in the world for languages, I have actually asked Jens to be my teacher again from the UK! I would not hesitate to recommend him if you want to learn German.

Jens is a sympathetic and attentive tutor, who succeeds in both addressing the specific demands and interests of his students and teaching them the language more generally. I spent two years studying with Jens and went from no German abilities at all to passing my C1 German exam.

I needed to learn German quickly for my new job and many of the institutions I found online were very expensive and also inflexible in terms of location, timings and syllabus. I have studied languages before so I have considerable experience with language courses and tutors. Jens was extremely helpful in understanding my own personal needs and tailoring our sessions to ensure I achieved my own goals and those of my employer. He worked to my timetable and came to my office each week. He is a fantastic teacher; he is patient but strict and incredibly friendly and helpful. His approach obviously works as I have reached B1 level from complete scratch in less than a year. So far it has been a pleasure to work with Jens.

It has been several times that I have tried to start learning German and only with Jens I managed to achieve a lot of progress. He tailors the programme according to your personal needs and learning style and makes sure you get the most out of every single session. Lessons with Jens are both challenging and entertaining and I could not recommend him more to all those willing to learn German

Jens is a very good teacher and I have learnt German with him from scratch for 2.5 years. I have just passed the B1 exam (Goethe Institut).

His approach to teach someone who has had 0 knowledge in German has proven to be very effective. He is very attentive and also witty, you will never get bored in his lessons ;) Highly recommended!

Jens's lessons are very informal, yet very insightful. We meet in very small groups, giving everyone a chance to speak or ask questions about grammar. He's got a great way of explaining all the grammar rules - I learnt German before and nobody made them this easy. And he always chooses interesting topics of discussion.

Jens is a fantastic teacher. He is a really smart and humorous guy, extremely patient and very pragmatic about your needs. I can't actually imagine a more effective language teacher - he is thoroughly prepared, focused, enthusiastic and also a nice guy. If you want to learn German, don't hesitate!

After extensive research finding a German tutor in London, we found a gem with Olesen Tuition. My experience learning German via mobile device, online platform, and other language institutions could have been better. Learning milestones were set and students were expected to achieve them with little revision and time allocation. Not with Olesen Tuition, Jens adapted his teaching methods and recommended a mode of learning effective for me. This was important, as I am a meticulous and slow-learner. I have a habit of recording everything and asking plenty of questions. Me and Jens planned my individual milestones and steps to achieve them, including periodic reviews. Jens is a talented and quick-witted tutor with a wonderful sense of humour. His philosophy on "simple but correct" has helped me appreciate the importance of grammar and work my way up to more complicated constructions. Jens was also not afraid to challenge me, which made for some intense sessions! Above all, he is a highly intelligent and funny teacher, which has made the past year a lot of fun!
