The TX646 receiver was OK, not great, then it died a death with regards to giving out any sound. Apparently these things have a major fault with their boards/chips. Check out "Onkyo no sound" videos o... See more

Non existent customer service

Forget getting any customer service from Onkyo, had a faulty unit, sent back to LetMeRepair. Contacted Onkyo customer service about 3 weeks later, said they would investigate and call me back but never got a call back. I would have second thoughts about buying another Onkyo. Given their reputation for faulty goods they really need a good customer service department but alas it does not deliver.

"You ALWAYS walk alone"

At onkyo.com you see an icon saying: "You never walk alone. Find help here!"
But that is exactly what you do....walk alone! Have been writing them several times regarding an A/V receiver that applies for the "Loss of Audio/Network Connection" program. Complete silence!
Why do a multinational company like Onkyo, with many years of pride in the A/V component industry, suddenly completely ignores their customers? I've had bad support experiences before, but Onkyo really takes the medal!
So I'm stuck with a receiver they admit is faulty, but they really don't give a s*** about it.

I am so done with Onkyo!

Worst customer support I have ever experienced

Don't buy a reciever from Onkyo. If you ever have to deal with their customer support, you are looking at emails that will never get answered and phone supporters promising to follow up, but then never getting back to you.
Horrible. I have given up, and switched to another brand, which I am very pleased with.

Great Product - When it works | Support - Hit or Miss

Have an TX-NR626 and three months after getting it the WiFi went out. I've called in numerous of times and they just have me reset the system. It works for a little bit then stops again. Now the audio is going out. Again, I have to reset the system each time to get the audio back on but it's truly annoying. After almost 1.5 years of calling in and asking for better support I am told "Your out of warranty now." I understand the system isn't an expensive one but it's the principal of the matter here. Sent a message via LinkedIn to Hiroshi Izutani so hopefully that will help. :(

Onkyo - TX 8050

I have a couple of years old Onkyo TX 8050. It stopped working (no sound, both speakers and headphones). After visiting Onkyo support website, I found that my receiver is covered under extended warranty. In a few steps I started the claim and, in a few days, I received the empty box from Fedex to ship the receiver to their repair center. All I had to do is to drop of the box to the closest Fedex. I got it back in 10 days and it works like a charm. BTW, shipping charges were covered by Onkyo as well.
Well done Onkyo, you got yourself a customer for life.

Awful Customer Service! Don't Buy from these guys!

The WORST customer support I have EVER experienced!

This is a complex device. It's not just a receiver, it pretends to be a media center. If you think it's ready to do that or if you think Onkyo is ready to support such a contrivance, you are sadly mistaken!

After over an hour waiting on the phone to talk with someone about my troubled and very difficult (and unpleasant) receiver, no one EVER answered! This means if you need help, your expensive receiver is actually just garbage! And yes, I tried to post on onkyo's usa site, and no, I never got a response!

The support - is WAISTLAND.

I bought an Onkyo surround receiver TX-NR609,
I have many time triet to get help from support, but they have NEWER replied back to me.
One ot the problems with the Onkyo receiver is that the internet connection goes dead, so no internetradio can be used - it does just nor want to connet to the internet,
The only solution is to compleatly disconnest the power and reconnect again.

What a poor receiver this ONKYO TX-NR609 !!!

The best support EVER.

I bought an Onkyo surround receiver TX-NR818, it's much better than my old Yamaha RX-V1900. Only one problem, the display color should be green on the black edition but was white as on the silver edition. I send some e-mails to the Onkyo support and they where answering very fast and the last mail they send was at 01:14 AM on tuesday night. It's amazing that i can get help at that time of the day. I've advised all my friends to consider products from Onkyo after this.
