Do not use OpenTable! Book with the restaurant direct. OpenTable charge £20 per person, if you give less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation!

Be very careful with providing card…
Be very careful with providing card details through Opentable! When I booked for a dinner and was unable to come due to covid cases amongst the guests, i tried cancelling 26 hours prior to the reservation. The booking on Opentable did NOT allow me to cancel and I was referred to the restaurant, whom told me that they were unable to cancel it on their end and seemed very happy to leave it ( as this allows them access to my bank card and they can rake up charges) When inquiring with Opentable ( i have the transcript of the conversation with their rep) I was informed that Opentable does NOT hold the card info nor provide protection to consumers booking through their site, and they basically told me to sort it out with the restaurant and offered to throw me some points on their system!? Had to cancel every card ever used on their site as apparently the information just sits with the business owners of the restaurants without clarity on caps/timeframes etc... Be careful, there have been a lot of these scams!
Amazing!
Easy to book with Open Table at Vaasu restaurant in Marlow. We opted for Lunch from the set menu (4 choices from the first 2 courses, plus edition of extra small dishes and 2 pudding choices). Excellent staff, very friendly and attentive. My tastebuds are still tingling! Subtle blends of spices in each dish took me right back to Rhajastan! Warm roti bread and mint paratha (a first for me). Lush! The lamb melted in the mouth and the chicken and prawns were perfect.
It wasn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it was definitely worth every penny! (Drinks are pricy) we will definately be back. Thank you guys for making our visit very special.
Had brunch here for the first time
Had brunch here for the first time. Very professional and welcoming. Food was absolutely amazing compliments to the chef. Manager on shift I believe who’s name was Ryan made it very easy and relax to order and eat with a lovely view of the canal. I am new to the area and was advised of what places were good in the area. Will definitely be coming here again and this time with a group.
Appalling company
Echoing much of what I have seen on here. I have also booked a table at a closed restaurant through Open Table - it was for New Year's Eve, so was rather a disaster. Moreover, I have also been trying to spend my rewards cheque for nearly 18 months, each restaurant I book and produce it at, tells me that they don't accept them and are not in the scheme. None of them are on the list of exceptions. I have complained 6 times to OT and I get the usual copy and paste response that varies between re-sending me the list link (that still has none of the restaurants that refused the cheque on) or asked to void my cheque so they can reinstall the points. No one answers your query, the customer service is appalling. There is no benefit to using the service at all and they should be called out for their misleading statement regarding the rewards scheme. It's a scam.
Expensive and disingenuous
Expensive and disingenuous
With the core package for €149/month commissions are not charged if bookings are made directly through your website. However, Opentable put a button on your restaurants Google search panel and on Tripadvisor which drives traffic from your site to their network, resulting in commissions on covers that would have booked through your site already. (when I asked them to take this down, they said it could take up to 6 weeks, blaming Google for any delay (which would conveniently result in more commissions for Opentable)
I was given verbal assurances on a number of things by the sales rep before signing, such as that I could change to the basic package (€19/month) if I wasn't satisfied with the service, when cancelling they tried to renege on that promise and if I hadn't had to sense to insist that the sales rep send me that in an email, I would have had to pay over €1300 to exit the contract.
If there is a no show, Opentable assumes it was a seated table unless properly cancelled by staff, resulting in commissions.
After a customer makes their reservation, they will receive a follow up email suggesting other nearby restaurants, again driving customers from your business to competitors via the opentable network.
It seems very clear that Opentable to not have the restaurants interests in mind in terms of how they operate, rather they want to lock restaurants into contracts where they can systematically ensure that they can charge commissions on as many covers as possible.
I made a reservation for a table with Open Table - a disaster
I made a reservation for a table at Gaucho, Piccadilly with Open Table, and received a confirmation form Open Table. When I arrived at the restaurant, they could not find my reservation. The next day, Open Table sent me an email saying that I had not turned up and advised me about how to cancel in future. Nowhere on Open Table's web site could I find a way to complain that Open Table was run by a bunch of incompetents.
Pathetic!! Booked us at closed restaurant
It was my birthday and my husband booked a table at tamarind kitchen via open table for monday night dinner and they booked him a table for 8 pm. However, we discovered that the restaurant was closed. It completely ruined my birthday due to incompetence of open table!! They should really get information about the restaurants on their website and stop fooling peope.
I have been waiting 45 minutes
I have been waiting 45 minutes for my meal at Madhus Brasserie at Harvey Nichols. The staff are either incompetent or do not like to serve a woman on her own. I have just received apologies, but even if this turns out to be the best meal I have ever had, I will not come here again!
Finally the meal arrived! Spices good but quality of the chicken quite poor

I found them reasonably helpful when we booked the restaurant in Manchester , a bit slow to return email but otherwise ok

A terrible company to do business with. Their customer service is beyond poor.
Warning - Credit Card Fraud
Please be careful as bookings made on Opentable are being used by Fraudsters ringing up and claiming to be from Restaurants to get you to reconfirm credit card details. I have tried to contact Opentable just to let them know, I had a call yesterday from a Fraudster, but no where on the website allows me to speak to someone. According to the restuarant it has been on the increase leading up to Christmas.
Website booking system issue
This is to do with the Open table booking system and not any restaurants. For some reason I am unable to amend the number of people in a booking without also amending the time slot. To confirm the changes I not only have to amend the number of people but also change the time of the booking. Once confirmed I need to go back into my booking and change the time back to the original. Please can you ask your developers to sort this issue.
The Dales Fails!
In August this year there was a sign at the front of the Dales Hotel promoting booking Christmas Lunch and as we are local, a 3 minute walk away we thought it would be a good idea to book Christmas lunch for my wife and I and my two daughters who would be staying with us.
We use the Dales regularly, for dinner or drinks as it is our local.
I called the Dales number and spoke to a member of your staff, in what seemed to be a central reservation facility for the Mackenzie Group. I advised that I would like to book a table for four for Christmas Day lunch at 2.00pm. As I hadn't had any further communication from the Dales by the end of September, I called the number again and checked on my booking. A member of your staff advised there was now going to be two sittings for lunch, at 12.30 or 3.00pm, to which I replied 3.00pm would be fine for us. They then advised me that someone would be in touch to take a deposit for the day.
Since then I have had no communication from anybody and last Saturday my wife and I had dinner at the Dales and upon leaving, asked Holly on the front desk that we have booked for Christmas lunch at 3.00pm, however we haven't been asked to pay a deposit as yet.
Holly checked and then advised us, no you don't have a booking for Christmas lunch. Marie called you and because you didn't pick up we cancelled the booking and now we are full!
Hearing that I was absolutely furious! We eat out a lot and what restaurant would ever cancel a dinner reservation because when they called the person didn't pick up???
Wether we book through Open Table or direct through the restaurant website or call, we always receive a text or email asking us to confirm which we always do.
Is The Dales the only restaurant in the UK that if you don't have your mobile to hand or don't pick up a booking is cancelled??? I think the whole process has been a shambles! and has left us in a position where it's to late in the year to book a restaurant of choice now for our Christmas lunch and has left me with a sour taste in my mouth regarding the Mackenzie Group.
I messages to owners to make them aware but no response.
Whatever happened to customer service and client satisfaction??? clearly values that are way down the list for Mackenzie Hotels.
From good to worst
From good to worst. You need to consider your customer service. Stop from toss and pass your client from one department to another department.
Also £20 for processing fees if you don’t set up your direct debit with them.
Broken or Useless Menu Links
Tried to view the Menu for The Parlour - Oakley Court and used the menu button which took me to a completely different hotel in London... "Hyatt hotel, Great-Scotland-Yard" how useful is that? So far been waiting on their not so "Live Chat" system for 20 minutes. I was 3rd in the queue and am now 2nd in the queue.
We booked a restaurant meal
We booked a restaurant meal, completely unaware that it was PREPAID, which means they took money upfront including 20% extra for tips. Apparently it is called an experience and as such was NON REFUNDABLE BY DEFAULT.
We had to cancel but the SHARKS at OPENTABLE was not interested.

Yet another wonderful Le Benaix Sunday lunch.
Yet another wonderful Sunday lunch at Le Benaix.
We had friends over from Spain and decided to take them for Sunday Lunch at Le Benaix, one of our favourite restaurants.
We had complementary sourdough bread and herb and nut butters while we looked over the menus, so tasty. I had the chicken liver parfait, just fabulous and so tasty my guests also had the canapes and scallops, all excellent. Three of us had the Sunday roast, beef nice, pink and tender, roast potatoes crispy and fluffy and a mountain of veg. Jan being a vegy had the vegy roast and ordered an extra Yorkshire but when she saw the size of them just couldn't eat it. The Malbec was superb and Jan had her usual Gin cocktail. I would normally have the sorbet and ice cream but we were all too full to contemplate the desserts.
The staff were both friendly and efficient and our guests were really impressed and enjoyed the whole experience, even more so as I paid!!!
We come back here time and time again and it is so handy being five minutes down the road.
We would recommend it to anyone and introduce many of our friends here.
It is starting to get very busy now so you need to book early.

Tried this place for the first time.... Found it by accident as my sister and I were looking for somewhere to buy a coffee. Well, well, well what a splendid surprise. The customer service was fabulous, warm and welcoming which totally complimented the food. The food was worthy just to be admired, kind of a shame we had to eat it as the presentation was fantastic. Needless to say in the words of the great Terminator.... "We will be back".
The only down side is this place is too small😠

Went to sheba the other day via bookings on open table had a lovely evening it was very good I had a butter chicken wow it was very nice my friend had a bengal lamb shank my god must say that was wonderful would all way go back and recommend anyone and every one to try sheba and experience what I did and the service was excellent
Contact and Points
Opentable UK appears to have removed their email address and phone number and instead provide a chatbox on which I find impossible to reach anyone even having held on for 30 minutes with 19 people in queue. When making a recent booking I forgot to tick the box asking for points so did not receive them. Why would a member, who is logged on, not want to receive points? Curious.
