Do not use OpenTable! Book with the restaurant direct. OpenTable charge £20 per person, if you give less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation!

Very poor company. Don't Use These People
Very poor company. As noted by other reviewers they do not keep customer details secure. I dined at Wild Honey (excellent) and a few days later had a phone call from someone purporting to be from there and telling me I had a £30 deposit from OpenTable that they needed to return. I had not paid a deposit and told him so but he insisted and clearly knew a lot about me so foolishly I gave my credit card details. Next thing I know my credit card company was onto me. It was a scam. Also as noted by someone else they send a text to confirm bookings the day before and use a premium number so you get charged to confirm (albeit not much)
They do not give any email or telephone number on their site so it is impossible to contact them except by chatbot.
All the hallmarks of a low quality company.
Scamming the restaurants
They cheat restaurants with fee as soon as you sign contract you will be charged a lots of hidden fee.
I cannot find any restaurants in London that take the OpenTable cheque - pointless!
I cannot find any restaurants in London, UK that will accept 'the cheque.' Even those not on the exclusions list will take them. I suspect because they have issues getting them reimbursed by OpenTable. Utterly pointless loyalty scheme! I have now deleted the OpenTable app and will book directly with restaurants in future.
Poor response
Asked for the dog friendly table. Had no confirmation that id got it. They charge 90p to confirm your booking and they changed it to 7 hours later! Absolute rubbish
Efficient booking on the app but points are a shambles
The booking system is good but their points system is borderline scam. Basically impossible to find anywhere that accepts their dining cheques. List they provide of places that don't accept is extremely n long but I emailed every restaurant not on the list in my area to ask if they accepted and they said no. Complete waste of time.
Terrible user experience using the platform
Easy to book, even if you have to add your credit card, but difficult to log in - not even my bank asks me for 2 verification codes and impossible to cancel/modify the reservation
Lunch at daterra
First time here started with the short tasting menu were enjoying it so much we asked to extend to the long tasting menu.Stunning food prepared in full view of the open kitchen, head chef Rafael Cagali keeps a constant vigil and actively helps prepare and present the menu.Every member of staff actually presents the food encouraged to do so by Chef Cagali. If you are a real foodie this place is a must. Will definately return.
Totally pointless and useless
I have tried open table ever so often. On each occasion, no matter how far in advance, they have nothing available in the evenings. I then call the restaurant and its always available.
Most recently with The Orator Brasserie in Cambridge. Opentable table gave me only 4pm and 415pm. The restaurant had no problem with 6pm.
It's a rubbish reservation system. Complete waste of time.
Rubbish company
Rubbish company. Avoid booking via them, always opt for calling or emailing the restaurant and book directly. DO NOT USE OPEN TABLE.
Will not use again.
Booked a table for Valentines Day. Moonraker restaurant in Trowbridge appeared not to know we had booked. It could have been the restaurant itself as their service was poor. We walked out after 30 minutes. When questioned about not being offered one of the many vacant tables the staff said they were busy.
They’re such a HORRIBLE website
They’re such a HORRIBLE website. They let us down for Valentine’s Day and always keep open reservations for Restaurants that are fully booked! Their customer service offers NO HELP AT ALL!
Try at YOUR OWN RISK
Let us down badly for Valentines Day
Let us down badly for Valentines Day. The restaurant we booked turned out to be closed. OpenTable blamed the restaurant but when we contacted the restaurant, they said they had cancelled participation in OpenTable six months ago. So how are OpenTable still offering bookings?
The company does not provide proper customer support
The only thing available is a Chatbot that does not understand any question that does not rigidly follow its narrow view of the world. Quite frustrating.
Credit card fraud
Booking went fine. Putting credit card details to keep booking nightmare. Never had any problems before until the day I book on here someone tried to use my card. New years eve the day of the meal someone tried to use my card and yesterday. All three times since using this site. Coincidence....I don't think so.
Rubbish system booked table for the 2nd…
Rubbish system booked table for the 2nd of January for a birthday, got to the restaurant and it was closed avoid this useless sight and save yourself some stress,
Booked a new year's eve experience only…
Booked a new year's eve experience only to get to the restaurant to find out it was closed even though `i was charged for it. Devil and unprofessional company.
Works totally the wrong way round
Works totally the wrong way round. You book a table. The site takes the deposit. Then OpenTable contracts the restaurant only to find that there is no table available. OpenTable then cancelled the booking. But of course you then have to wait to get your deposit refunded.
Common sense would indicate check availability first but they are far more interested in getting the deposit first.
Check your booking with Restaurant before going!
My friend booked a table, table confirmed yesterday by email. Got to the restaurant & it was closed! Called the restaurant and they said they stopped using open table 5 months ago !
£18 taxi later & no dinner, Open table refused to accept liability!
Appalling
Having booked with the mantra Curry house in Bath for lunch, I fortunately checked the booking with the restaurant, which told me that they didn't open for lunch and HAD INFORMED OPENTABLE ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES.
I was saved a fruitless journey by the restaurant.
Restaurants beware of signing with Open…
Restaurants beware of signing with Open Table.
We signed up with Open Table on a monthly rolling contract to see if it would help us get more table bookings. After a few months, it became clear it wasn't working for us, fine - we just need to give 30 days notice to terminate the contract.
Their team took ages to respond to my termination notice, trying to say I needed to talk to an account manager before I could terminate the contract. This is a delaying tactic to try to keep billing you for as long as possible. They then recorded our notice date incorrectly, so they could attempt to bill us for an additional few weeks. After this, they are chasing us for money not owed to them. One invoice we have paid via direct debit already and another is for a whole month even though our contract terminated on the 9th of that month.
I believe this is a cynical attempt by this company to extort money out of their restaurant partners even after we are not using their software anymore.
Restaurant owners, go elsewhere!
