Do not use OpenTable! Book with the restaurant direct. OpenTable charge £20 per person, if you give less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation!

Check that the restaurant is actually open...
Beware that the app confirms bookings for restaurants that are closed. Luckily I checked with the restaurant before arriving for my booking.
Poor booking experience …
So annoying how over years they can’t sort out themselves… you try and book, the invite someone, type in verification code and… guess what… it doesn’t work…! How in this day and age an app get away with such low ratings and so many restaurants going along with reservations though opentable is staggering… speaks for itself and the restaurant as well as for the lack of better apps I guess…
Used the app to book a last minute…
Used the app to book a last minute afternoon tea. The app allowed me to book it and I received a confirmation email but when we got to the restaurant we were told they didn't have the staff/produce to serve us and that they needed 24 hours notice of bookings, which Open Table were aware of. The restaurant very kindly gave us a voucher for the inconvenience even though it wasn't their fault Open Table shouldn't have accepted my booking.
Used for well over 10 years - what a waste
Used for well over 10 years. Tried to use a dining reward voucher just before the pandemic, not accepted at restaurant (even though listed on their list). Now 2 years later, can’t even redeem my points anymore.
Sent customer service message by email, responded to by people who can’t read.
What a rubbish service and what a waste of time for using after all these years to not be able to use my rewards…. Honestly, what a waste of time and extremely poor customer service.
First thing you see is a load of covid…
First thing you see is a load of covid restrictions! It’s late 2022 and the first page they send when advertising is bloody covid nonsense! How to put you off!! Also bombard you with emails. Don’t use just ring the restaurant up yourself.
They send SO many emails after you make…
They send SO many emails after you make 1 reservation through them!! I've had at least 10 in a week since making a booking through them!
Honestly its worth cutting the middleman and just call the restaurant yourself and book it directly as OpenTable dont add any value.
The online booking system failed completely. An utter shambles.
I booked a table through OPEN TABLE UK. I had to rearrange it. Firstly I rearranged through the OPENTABLE website, but was not sure that it had worked, so I phoned the restaurant to confirm the rearrangement.
A day before the date of the original booking I received an email reminding me of the booked table, i.e. the one I had cancelled and rearranged.
I cancelled it again online and received a cancellation confirmation. The day of the original booking I received a telephone call from the restaurant asking where I was, as the booking was still open. Nothing in this sorry saga worked properly.
Scam phone call after booking with…
Scam phone call after booking with OpenTable!!
I booked a restaurant through them and my details were used by fraudsters to ask me to confirm the credit card details over the phone. As with another reviewer, they bought goods from Argos.
The restaurant explained it was happening to lots of their customers and it was because OpenTable had been hacked.
I've just been scammed on the phone…
I've just been scammed on the phone from someone who said they had to refund me £20 from my booking via OpenTable, instead they used my details to buy £800 worth of goods on Argos. I cant believe OpenTable isnt doing anything about this as it looks like the same thing happened to so many people (just look for OpenTable Scam Restaurant call refund).
do not use open table to book your restaurants!!
Further unacceptable practice.
Further unacceptable practice.
I have deleted the app. But emails are still coming through. There is no " unsubscribe" button on email.
To delete I need to go into my account, find delete button. When pressed I am directed to " contact us "
I sent a contact asking for my account to be deleted. They then send me a confirm deletion email " active for 7 days. But when I press it 40 minutes later, it has expired for my protection apparently.
Please avoid this company and it's ridiculous behaviours
Charging premium SMS rates

Restaurant closed on arrival!
I booked a table through OpenTable at a restaurant in Leicester to celebrate my wife’s birthday 3 months prior and to coincide with a theatre visit and overnight stay.
OpenTable confirmed the day before, yet when we arrived the restaurant was closed…..permanently! And had been for almost a month.
I’ve also now received a request from OpenTable to review my meal!
What a shambles! At least on their website you can no longer book the restaurant, so why didn’t I receive a cancellation? A response from OpenTable would be good as the haven’t responded to my email!?
My booking was confirmed on the website…
My booking was confirmed on the website but no email was received. When I enquired the booking had not been made with the restaurant and the time we wanted was no longer available and we had to accept an earlier one. On the day there were plenty of free tables at the time we wanted. I will never use Opentable again.
Beware of the 10p charge on your phone…
Beware of the 10p charge on your phone when Opentable text you to confirm your restaurant booking. They claim it’s the restaurant charging but I’m highly suspicious. Yes, it’s only 10p , but it’s the principle.
Data mining...?
When booking a table at a local restaurant we had to use this booking system. I now get spammed with promotional emails from them which I didn't agree to and are completely unrelated to the restaurant booking. I am even getting emails after the event now to which I had to unsubscribe. Even this was a labourious process as it isn't one click and you have to untick 6 or 8 boxes. I didn't knowingly consent to my details being passed to this company I just want to have a meal with friends!
This company simply cannot cope with mass bookings
This company simply cannot cope with bookings for deals coming in at the same time. Have to enter details multiple times, verification codes don't work and customer services simply say "Oh dear, we'll record this and make sure we improve our service". Odd that, as it's happened to me on several occasions over the years and nothing has improved. Hopeless organisation based in The States.
Easy to use.
Easy to use this app. Booked a table for 2 at The Chestergate Bistro, Macclesfield. Beautiful food, lovely evening and restaurant.
OpenTable Cheques - pointless
I've been using OpenTable since it's started (I think it was TopTable initially) - and generally it has been very good for booking tables - I've never had (a known) data issue. Over that time I have accrued a lot of points (although I lost loads when they changed their system a while back) - however I have yet to find a single restaurant that will accept an OpenTable cheque - so I wish they would be honest about it and just get rid of this points for cheques rewards system - or find another way to reward customers.

In 2022 they still can’t even get an app where you search an area and it brings up that area. I’ve searched Sheffield and I’m getting restaurants in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds and the odd one in Sheffield. You can’t even say the website has been designed by a child because children are far more intelligent than the designers of this page
