Great Oreous Pillow Swindle

3 years on ... the latest is to pay an additional $63 for shipping (on top of the $25 already paid) and the $109 for the pillow. Scammers and conmen....

Scammed

Another sad customer that paid in good faith through Kickstarter. Read the stories below and mine is identical. No product ever received. Oreous is a shameful company that you should never give your hard-earned money to.

Oreous is a SCAM

I am a backer and until now I haven't received my pillow. They now have stocks of the pillow and a shipping partner, but they are asking for another $60+ for the shipping, even though shipping should have been included in what I paid before.
They even told me that it will be more beneficial for them to sell them at the retail price instead of shipping me my order - which is nuts, because they have a responsibility and commitment to backers in the first place.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I backed this company's Kickstarter project over 3 years ago. Over that entire period the owner kept re-assuring his backers that the project would be completed and our rewards fulfilled. Months would go by with no updates, only to be told over and over about new issues/problems arising, that had subsequently been dealt with, and to be patient that our rewards were coming. Despite having paid shipping costs in the original backing, the owner came back and admitted that they had grossly underestimate shipping costs and asked for additional funding. If you didn't pony up the additional shipping charge, you would not receive your reward. That was 2 years ago. Recently, we get a notification that finally a new shipping company has been contracted and backers were given a "voucher code" to be used on their webstore to finalize the shipment of our rewards. Here's the kicker - you were only given 5 days to use the code before it expired and the rewards wouldn't be shipped until after that deadline had passed. So, no way to verify that the rewards were actually being fulfilled first. Well, guess what, when you went to use the voucher code, you discovered that additional shipping charges and taxes would be applied over and above the voucher amount. WHAT? How many times do we have to pay for shipping?? With the imposed deadlines and supposed shipping dates, there is no way to ensure that the rewards are actually forthcoming this time. Just another way to squeeze operating capital out of his backers - just like a pyramid scheme!

And the really sad part about this whole misadventure - Kickstarter did NOTHING to support the backers of this project, despite their own guidelines not being followed by the project's creator. We're way past when anyone's credit card company would grant a refund request for non-fulfillment, so the backers of this project are basically screwed out of their money!

The Oreous company is a scam

The Oreous company, and specifically Mark Reissi, have scammed thousands of kickstarter backers with their very succesful campaign. Don't get involved with them and back away.

Do NOT trust or send any money to this…

Do NOT trust or send any money to this “seller” 🤬
I was one of the many original Kickstarter supporters three years ago now - and following many promises (obviously lies) and requesting yet more money for “additional postage charges” over a year ago, with the promise of pillows to be delivered, which I naively paid, now, another year later we finally get the allegedly final email for delivery and - wait for it - this thief, Mark Reissi, demands yet MORE money for postage costs or else no pillows will be sent!

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, but you won’t fool three times...

Don't buy anything from them

Don't buy anything from them. Absolute con artists. How many times must we pay delivery before we get the product we have backed all those years ago? They are asking for more money again and they want it within their time frame. What about the fact that they have taken our money from us three years ago and never fulfilled their end of the agreement. Cheats, liars and scammers, that's what they are.

This is the biggest joke of a company

This is the biggest joke of a company. Backed them during Kickstarter phase 3 years ago. I can’t believe it took this long. Paid for shipping during the backing stage and now they are asking for more money for shipping. When their campaign says ships world wide. Don’t buy their product cause you will never get it

This project is a scam used to steal money from backers, with false hope and a lot of lies since more then 3 years

This project is a scam used to steal money money from backers, 3 years full of lies and empty promises, asked for extra shipping costs 2x and since yesterday asking for absurd $60 extra for shipping again but now outside the kickstarter crowdfunding platform, everyone already paid that costs ! kickstarter crowdfunding also don't care as they already charged the 5% of the total project to their own pocket, stay way from both, unreliable !

Don't buy from them

As some other reviews here have stated the people that helped get the company off the ground have been promised delivers for 3 years, they asked for further money, we paid, and now it looks like the pillows may FINALLY be delivered they ask for even more money for shipping even when it was included in the original costing. I just can't imagine messing around customers like that. If they happen to amend the fact they want further funding for shipping, I'll amend my review accordingly.

Stay away from this company

This company had a Kickstarter and after 3 years they offer a free pillow but want to charge me shipping and duties of $71.89 USD. In my Kickstarter payment I already paid 19$ for shipping. The new shipping amount is totally unreasonable and unexpected.

The mother of all SCAMS!

More then 3 years after backing this project on Kickstarter.com, and numerous "Postive" updates about the project like:
"Exciting Shipping news" October 2, 2017.
"Shipments have left" November 2, 2017.
"Shipping is still on hold" September 17, 2018.
"Good news, Apologies! Stock with us! October 21, 2019.
"Happy Holidays!" December 2, 2019.
"Almost there!" March 9, 2020.
"Almost there! Hang on." August 23, 2020.
"THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!" October 24, 2020.

I finally got an e-mail on November 21, 2020 stating:

"Dear Stephen,
Oreous team would like to thank you for being a backer and supporter of the brand since our official crowdfunding launch. thank you for being so patient with us, we know that you will love the finished product!"

The e-mail came with a redeem code to fulfil my initial order. The order I paid 164$ + 29$ Shipping costs on September 2017.

My first thoughts were like: Wow, this is too good to be true! Can you believe it?

But there was an "important note" at the bottom stating:

"Wherever you are located whether domestic or International when you go to checkout we will be using two apps to calculate DDP, DDU, and shipping rates. This is not an error if you see a balance after applying the redemption or discount code. It won’t be much, but this is the best we can financially do in order to get you your pillows. We understand some have already paid an additional amount for shipping and this might come as a shock, however, we have no other way around it if you would like your pillow."

And yes, when checking out shopping car with the product from their website, I was asked to pay an additional 154.21$ to get my product shipped to me.

Please save yourself some time and stay away from these scammers.
