Booked direct with the hotel 🏨?

Booked direct with the hotel 🏨, as they suggested on their website, you get 10% discount and complimentary breakfast.
Was very pleased with this when booked, however when turned up for breakfast had to pay £18 per guest for half cooked breakfast 🥞.
Simply told none of the guests had breakfast booked (?).
Their website is very misleading, so beware if/when booking direct with their hotels.
The most helpful person was Mathew at the reception.

I’ve been going here for years, and the experience and customer service are exceptional every single time. Shout out to the helpful and friendly Mathew, Mikey, Bibek, and the restaurant staff. See you all again when I'm next up North.

I paid £180 for no heating

I paid £180 for one night at Park Regis Birmingham and checked into a room that was so cold I didn’t even take my coat off. Despite setting the room temperature control to maximum, there was no heat or air coming from the ceiling vents at all.

I only had around 30 minutes before leaving for a work event, so I unpacked and, on my way out, reported the issue to reception. I was clearly told that maintenance would attend and resolve it while I was out.

When I returned at around 2am, nothing had been done. The room was still freezing. Having been awake for nearly 24 hours, I didn’t have the energy to go back to reception, wait for maintenance, or pack up and change rooms. I ended up sleeping in a hoodie, coat and trousers, wrapped in the duvet. The next morning I had to leave the hairdryer running while I showered just to get some warmth in the room.

At checkout I complained again and was told management would contact me within 48 hours. Predictably. no one did. After thenhaving to chase by email, I received a response stating:

“The air conditioning has been checked and the issue has been addressed from the control panel. However, there is a possibility it may turn off again.”

Despite acknowledging the issue, I was offered 15% off a future stay, an offer that appeared to be copied from a generic chat GPT template:

Kind regards,
[Your Name]
Park Regis Birmingham
I can also make a more concise, friendly version while keeping all key points if you want it to read smoother for the guest.

I explained that I would not return and that a discount on a future stay was meaningless given I had paid £180 to sleep in my clothes, cold. I also referenced my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, as the room was clearly not fit for purpose.

At that point, the tone changed. The next response denied that there had ever been a heating issue, claimed the logs showed everything was working, no one else had repoered an issue in that room and ignored the earlier written acknowledgement in emails that it had needed adjustment to fix it and “may fail again”. I was eventually offered a 25% refund.

I declined out of principle. From the start, I asked for a 50% refund, which I consider entirely reasonable for a freezing room that was reported, promised to be fixed, and wasn’t — followed by days of contradictory and evasive communication.

I would strongly caution anyone staying here: if something goes wrong, you may face significant resistance, deflection, and inconsistency when trying to get a fair resolution.

Very good Park Regis hotel

I had a lovely stay at this grand hotel! I was greeted warmly and my room was very well presented. A nice room with great amenities, the shower worked with hot water. The food was delicious at dinner and breakfast. A very nice hotel

Myself and a colleague stayed there overnight as coach drivers with a contingency of Taiwanese diplomats. The manager on duty was really accommodating to their needs. He's was great and with a great sence of humour. Can't remember his name, but wish to thank him for a great stay

Five Star Service in all areas!!

Hotel was recommended to me and upon viewing I felt incredibly welcomed and relaxed. Booked a 2-day event for 200 delegates. All I can say is that I was treated like the first person ever to have an event at the Park Regis Hotel. NOTHING was too much trouble - a warm welcome, friendly staff, amazingly clean and comfortable rooms with aircon and toiletries. Super rain fall shower and the best biscuits with tea/coffee! The conference facilities exceptional and communication with key staff spot on. The flow of traffic, the service of food (superb quality for a large number) and the relaxed ambience encourage me to book again! The only downside is that I ate too many of the gorgeous cakes!!

Special shout out to Hayley, Michael, Matthew and Ilana for their help, patience and incredible support with everything from car park to bottles of water.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel - staff there are a credit to the Park Regis company.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY EVENT A SUCCESS!!!!

From start to finish staff were rude…

From start to finish staff were rude made me and my partner feel unwelcome. Room was horrible and small compact, no view smelly bathroom smelt like sewage had to complain to reception. Moved to another room absolutely filthy hair all over bathroom floor and in bedroom would never stay here ever again. Staff very unhelpful from the reception staff too the manager who is extremely difficult to get a hold of. This is the worse hotel I've stayed in the reception and how it looks makes you think your room will be to a certain standard but the two rooms I had basic and nothing special. Beds are small if your in a couple and the money charged it's not worth it.

Disastrous EV charging

Booked for location & EV charging & told no need to book as there’s always space. On arrival it looked like there were 2 spaces. Neither possible as adjacent cars massively over the marked bays One was only an inch or so but the entry was impeded by a steel pillar - & even if the car squeezes in with only about an inch either side I could never have been able to open the door to get out. The other car was occupying about 20% of the neighbouring space. What a disappointment!

A real gem in the middle of the city

We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome - thank you Levi! Our room was spotless and the ensuite equally spotless with a superb shower. The public areas of the hotel are comfortable and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. I was very impressed with the security on the lifts and felt very safe during our stay. This truly is a gem in the centre of the city - thank you to all of you for providing such a lovely place and atmosphere to stay in and thank you also to Saif for a friendly farewell. We will be back!

Stay away

My partner and i lodged at the hotel from Friday night to Sunday morning.
Saturdays (20/4/24) breakfast was a shocker for a 4star hotel. Foods were stone cold, hash brown was fried with old oil and you can taste, beacons too salty...... A lot of other customers complained at the spot but we didn't because we went out for a meal afterwards. And to be fair I didn't want to have Sundays breakfast but we did and it was the opposite of Saturday, so we did enjoyed Sunday breakfast.

But my main issue was on Saturday night when we came back. My partner went to have her shower and afterwards came out with blood on her hand. No flannel or sponge just water to clean sweat and dried up and something managed to cut her from drying up. It wasn't her nails because of the way the cut went. The towel so to say cut her while drying herself. We called first aider to our room (523 around 11pm) and apparently the night manager came to stop the bleeding.
I complained to guess relation office who promised me an investigation will be carried out with a week and that he will communicate back to me. About 3weeks past, not even an acknowledgement for my complaint which I am sure he received because he confirmed receipt while I was checking out. Since April, I have called nothing less than ten times but each time is either the manager is not available to help or is in a meeting and will call back. I gave up after a while which is what they wanted but surprisingly I received an email this night: "Tell us what you'd like to hear about for a chance to win an overnight stay for two".
Please stay away from this scam of a hotel. After almost £300 for 2nights plus other spending at the bar for 2nights. This is what they have to offer?

Lovely hotel a short walk from the city…

Lovely hotel a short walk from the city Centre. Check in is always good and professional. We had a lovely room on the 10th floor. Breakfast was fresh and both days. They do cocktails at the bar. Alaa made is feel very welcome. Price is very reasonable if you book direct and breakfast is included.
I’ve stayed here a few times and will continue to do so whenever I’m in Birmingham.

Rude and condescending staff

Disappointing, 2 members of staff rude and condicending.
My room had been paid for by the company running a course I was on, at check in the person made me feel like a complete idiot saing the room had not been paid for and demanding payment immediately. He made no effort to check if they were any errors on there side. The had indeed been paid for and they had to reimburse me the following day, it was a different person at the check in desk who stated they often have issues with communication from booking team to front desk. If this was the case, why so quick to dismiss me and make me feel stupid at check in, why not check with the booking team?
Secondly I tried to eat at the indian restaurant, after waiting 5 minutes in a completly empty restaurant I went to the bar to enquire, I was rudely told to go go back and wait and that someone was there, I explained I had waited 5 minutes and there was no one there. The man scoffed at me and turned to another staff member saying this was not true.
I guess this is how the hotel deals with lone female travellers.

1565 Bar & Terrace - Fantastic Service

I have been at this bar (and terrace) a few times now within the last month or so and can only describe it as amazing, tranquil and great service. The bar and seating is very large with a terrace so plenty of space to chill and relax. Was a little busy but my friends and I sat towards the top so was very relaxed. Drinks and food selection were great, but by far the Service we received from Talvinder (hope I got his name correct) far exceeded the service you experience elsewhere. Attention to detail, remembering us from previous visits, attending to our table every so often and all with a smile. More than 5 star service!

I expected more.....

This stay was part of a work do I was attending, parking was a little 2 minute walk, from the main hotel. I arrived at reception on the 4th floor and yes I was impressed, by what I saw - my room was on the 10th floor. Given how grand the reception was I expect the room to be impressive.
The room was....well... basic, though I will say the bed and pillows where very very comfortable. The room was normal, I was expecting something extra given how grand the reception area was.... A little coffee pod machine... something. I was thinking of another placed I had stayed, and was slightly let down - I think I just expected more.
My friend in another next room had no remote for her television and the iron did not work properly, when she called downstairs to get help, there was a major delay in the response (maybe it was a busy night).
Breakfast was wonderful, everything was on display and much to choose from, and all is well cooked.
The staff where friendly and helpful.
Overall it was okay stay

Amazing hotel

Amazing hotel, lovely decor and ambience, great location, very friendly and helpful members of staff and to mention few are Alexandra at reception, Leonora check in staff, Angela and Yash restaurant and bar and Ritvik reception. A young lady who assisted me on how to operate coffee machine in the room, good housekeeping pleasant and polite. I liaised with marketing manager Beth re room booking and she has been prompt and responsive in resolving query and booking.
On downside, Another chap Romano although nice but can be bit more friendlier and make conversation. Hotel rooms are great but after some time need fresh air as there is no cross ventilation but again not a big issue, toilet was not flushing properly and hence hotel need to ensure maintenance keep on top of these things and finally I do believe there has to be a security staff as there have been some major incident in the bar area by customer towards bar staff. Bit scary but hotel need to ensure safety of staff and customers alike.
But overall hotels is fantastic compared to Hilton across the road and even Leonardo.

Addendum; since posting the above review, I have stayed now for 7 nights at park Regis and it’s a fab place. More commendation goes to Archana in Indus, Rocio guest relation manager and really everyone at hotel made my stay so amazing. Thank you all

This was a truly awful experience.

This was a truly awful experience.
The room was so cold and we couldn’t get it warm no matter how high we set the heating.
The bed was tiny and my feet hung off the end by a considerable amount, at 6’2 I’m hardly a giant and have never experienced this at any other hotel.
The room itself (519) felt like staying in servants quarters.
We ended up sleeping in our clothes to try and keep warm.
To complete the experience when we had a hot shower in the morning to warm up there was only one bath towel provided.
If we hadn’t been in such a rush to make our evening plans when we checked in we’d of approached reception with our complaints but we just had no time and decided we’d have to put up with it when we got back.
For the amount of money we paid this was an awful experience.
Absolutely disgraceful that your hotel could offer its clients a room like that in this day in age.
Certainly wouldn’t recommend and I’d go as far as to advise anyone they’d probably be as well to sleep in a bus shelter!
