My husband and I did not have a great experience with Megan Paylor. We found Megan who a friend who used her for planning their honeymoon. We had never used a travel agent before and she informed us that we paid $250 for a deposit and then everything else was “free” and she received “kickbacks” from the companies she partnered with through booking. She told us she price matched and we discussed our total budget for the trip, including flights. We were so excited to work with her and the first itinerary we received was an absolute dream. However, it was over our budget and we booked our flights independently using credit card points.

My husband ended up researching everything on the itinerary and was able to find it for about $4,000 cheaper. We went back and forth with Megan for a while, asking her to accommodate the price matching. However, she just kept changing the itinerary (ex: changing hotels/excursions, downgrading things, etc.) which was not what we asked for, nor is that price matching. It brought me so much anxiety that I could not read the emails as they popped up on my phone.

In the end, Megan ended up firing as as clients, which was frustrating but ultimately for the best. She claimed that we didn’t appreciate how much work she put into our itinerary, but we truly felt like she wasn’t listening to us and the service that she advertised felt fraud. She claimed we owed her the full amount immediately. When we asked her to provide receipts so we could take over the planning, she provided some receipts that looked like she had generated herself. Also, despite booking non-refundable hotels & excursions, she was able to get refunded for all but one. This didn’t sit right with either my husband or me. Truly felt like we might have been taken advantage of.

While I know there were a lot of miscommunications, I would stay away from working with Megan.
